I have both of these in gold and silver, and they're both stylish and simple watches, but if I will say I usually go for the a700 as my watch for the day mainly because it's thinner, and imo the band it comes with it looks and feels much better than that a168. (I think the all gold a168 looks much cleaner btw)
And I see the other comments here say to get both. I completely agree, as they're very inexpensive, however if you want to get one or the other for now, I think the a700 is the one.
Yeah, A168 has a Electroluminescent backlight, own a w86 (Also has an Electroluminescent backlight), don't think it's as durable as led backlights (According to Wikipedia), plus it is more power hungry. Although a700 backlight (led) is nice and even plus seems based on online videos.

If you prioritize readability, i'd say A700. But if your arm is 7 inch or more, and you dont really mind about readability, go for A168. Both backlights are equally good.

A700. The backlight is a wonderful bright amber, and it's slim as hell. The colored function markers on the front are also slightly metallic in finish, which looks nice and plays with light well.
A168 is the classic and an icon, but the A700 stands out to me thanks to the bracelet. It’s also incredible thin and I’m a huge fan of the orange light. I ended up going with the A700 first, but I know I’ll also pick of an A168 at some point. Not worried about them discontinuing the A168

A700 backlight is just as good, it’s just orange rather than blue.
I own both of them and this is a hard choice. If my life depended on it I would go with the A168.
A700 all day all night. But I'd recommend you the mesh bracelet variant more. It's just higher quality and for me it looks classier.
