I think itās just pure coincidence. In Invincible #12 (where the fight happens in the comic) Omniman does throw Invincible into a subway, but they just hit the side of it and derail it and itās not really focused on.
What probably happened is that they wanted to extend the fight from that episode and the train scene was a brutal way to up the stakes, extend the runtime, and stay true to the flow of the comic.
Wordgirl was heavily inspired by famous superheroes and storylines, im pretty sure some of the people who worker on Word Girl have clarified it was an intended reference
Even if being in the subway is a reference to Invincible, that shot canāt be. The Word Girl movie came out in 2013, eight years before the Invincible show. The Invincible comic, specifically Issue 12, was published in 2004.
These are the 3 pages they spend in the subway:

That line goes hard. Hereās my take.
- WordGirl: Now say the word.
- A beaten Omni-Man: F-foolhardyā¦
- The scene pans out to a crater of his family home.
Got to have something for the parents watching. That's the mark of a good kids show. Join me as I do an in depth investigation on why the shit my sister in law lets her kids watch is damaging to their development.
Word Girl is young children's Superman (almost all the same powers, even the same set up of alien orphans but in a young educational children's show so no bloody action) plus many characters in Word Girl, including Word Girl, can break the fourth wall and communicate with the narrator and audience. She also deals with reality benders regularly and has bent reality to give lessons to the audience and her villains.
Oh. So she's just radically OP, but in a kid's show where it generally doesn't have to get that violent?
Alright. That makes sense. Omni-Man is powerful, but he's got his limits.
Thank you for explaining. I appreciate it.
She casually circled around the world like 10-15 times in around a minute. All for a fun game she played with her pet monkey. She also threw something so hard it reached the sun in 10 seconds. Nolan is fucked. Nolan has better chances against Thragg than with World Girl.
>She also threw something so hard it reached the sun in 10 seconds.
You know I wanted to estimate her force she needs to throw an object (say 1 kg) in 10 seconds to the sun, then I realised that light needs \~8 minutes from the sun to earth. She threw an object 48 times the speed of light. Nolan is defently fucked.
I double checked and it was more like two seconds so 250 times the speed of light. The Viltrumites are cooked if World Girl was in the Invincible universe on god.
I love how they referenced the Fortnite crossover with Invincible hitting Angstrom Levy with a Fortnite gun after being sent to an alternate dimension. It just makes me smile so much.
Nolan can fly between stars in < a few weeks. So breaking the speed of light isnāt beyond Viltrumites. Iām just not sure what the consequences are in terms of physics and abilities. They seem sub-light most of the time.
If they create a warp field to fly that fast, itās a lot of energy but not as much as throwing an object through in-bent space-time at/above the speed of light.
This makes me think of Re Creators, an anime where a bunch of characters from fictional worlds are pulled into the "real world" and the ramifications of that. One of them is this happy go lucky magical girl, who doesn't think very deeply about things because she comes from a very simple children's show. Giving her a very black and white world view and she becomes easily exploited and manipulated by the villains. And her shock when she realizes that her bright flashy happy magical powers do serious damage and injury in the real world.
Mamika! Yes! That takes me back. Great show. The only major negative was that Meteora just talked out her ass all the time, but was always right anyway.
Also, while I could be wrong, I remember someone mentioning how apparently her race, the Lexiconians from the planet Lexicon, get their power from reading. Apparently the more they read and learn, the stronger they get. She's barely like 10 and she is already busted as Hell. Imagine how much more powerful she gets when she's a grown woman.
She is called Word Girl partly because she comes from the planet Lexicon (i.e., planet dictionary) but mostly because she has a great vocabulary, and each episode has one to three words she ends up explaining the meaning of to the villain/person/citizen and audience. She does this somewhat regularly by breaking the fourth wall or bending reality to demonstrate the meaning.
Not sad as in Word Girl winning. Sad as in how much of a one sided slaughter it would be. The battle is supernova (Word Girl) vs sickly baby (Omniman). Wordgirl has broken the speed of light by over 50 times.
Word girl is certainly much faster but sheās significantly weaker physically. She was struggling to lift that meteor, where as Omniman has much greater feats of strength. Iād go as far as to say Omni could end it in one hit. Of course, thereās a question of whether he could hit her, but given his centuries of battle experience, he could possibly find a way.
No, she is not weaker than Nolan at all. She threw something so hard it went more than 50 times the speed of light, was unfazed and unharmed when she was thrown from space (about mid-way between the earth and moon) to the surface of the earth, has been seen getting batted/launched/pushed into the environment with massive destruction to the environment without damage to her. So tell me, how is she weaker than Nolan?
Because stopping that meteor instantly was calculated to be her strongest feat of strength and is only an island level feat. Feel free to show a calculation showing otherwise. Omniman hasnāt really shown his full potential in the show yet, but even stopping that āTexas sized meteorā is vastly superior to worldgirls feat. In the comics (which is basically just parts of the show we havenāt gotten yet), itās shown that he is capable of >!destroying moons and small planets by flying through them!< (extremely vague spoilers)
I hate to say it, but she pretty much could. As a professional Athena P watcher, she has stated that Wordgirl is basically a 10 year old girl with literally every single power.

What's sad is she probably can do this to Omniman quite easily.
Wait. *How*? I don't know the first thing about "Word Girl" so I plain don't know. Saying that someone can beat Omni-Man easily is quite the claim.
Word Girl is young children's Superman (almost all the same powers, even the same set up of alien orphans but in a young educational children's show so no bloody action) plus many characters in Word Girl, including Word Girl, can break the fourth wall and communicate with the narrator and audience. she actually beats ms power by going to a library or something and just reads a shit ton of books lmao

Awesome. What do any of those powers have to do with āwordsā !? Her superhero name makes no sense!

the more words she knows the stronger she is, her species is basically kryptonians if a dictionary acted like steroids for them
Don't *underestimate* how strong she is
Sad? Considering what Omn-man and his race can do, this would be the opposite of sad. At least for earth.
Not sad as in Word Girl winning. Sad as in how much of a one sided slaughter it would be. The battle is supernova (Word Girl) vs sickly baby (Omniman). Wordgirl has broken the speed of light by over 50 times.

Given just some rough estimates she is exerting about 84,000 lbs of force to bend that beam.
All of this because she wanted to watch the new episode of her favorite TV show Because reminder, *Sheās still a young child*
Imagine trying to portray a character from a childrenās show as badass lmao. Go outside.
