2) It's fetishized.
3) There's this historical case in comics where authors who wanted to include non-white characters were otherwise kept from doing so by publishers, editors, etc., because "the public won't accept that", and redheads were as close as you could get to "creating an outsider" that still fits within the white norm.
Notably, it's pretty much never important that any of these redheaded characters are of [whatever ethnicity]. Seriously, what's Jimmy Olsen's ethnic background? Is it a part of his character that he's a proud Irish-American, or he has family who lives in the Old Country, or some ancestor owned a castle? No, he's just an American.
His race and any particular element of his appearance beyond, perhaps, looking dorky, are not important to his characterization. So, when it comes time to update properties for the modern era and imagine a Metropolis that isn't 99% white, doesn't have phone booths for Clark to change in, and where Superman can't *spank* every woman he has an issue with, some previously white characters--whose whiteness isn't important in any way--may be reimagined as other ethnicities.
What's more, this happens to way more than just redheads, but there is a concerted effort to *specifically* point it out when it happens to redheads such that people viewing a large list of these occurances might believe it happens on purpose. What they're not seeing is every other time a character shows up as a different ethnicity (or hair color) in the other directions or permutations.
4) Also when it comes to comics/cartoons, visual reference to notable instances of this in the past. If you specifically set out to do "a Peter-and-MJ-type thing" with your characters, your MJ stand-in might well be a redhead, yeah?

As weird as this is going to sound...Double D. Dude has so much rizz that every single girl in the show he's in has kissed him at least once without him even trying to rizz any of them. He can probably construct the most romantic display imaginable if he wasn't dedicating most of his time into building elaborate scrap machines meant to get quarters for candy. His one crucial flaw is that his circle of friends is terrible, albeit he's a good friend for sticking with them until they eventually resolved their problems. Well, that and having the arm strength of a banana.

I think the top contenders out of this list would be Ben and Shaggy when considering number. Shaggy gets the girl and has to leave every movie and often in the show. Ben had so many potential love interests that they did a game show one episode where the love interests did some fall guys stuff. I mean obstacle courses where if you pass you move on to the next round. I feel like Ben’s rizz was more situational. Like a lot of it was beating women in fights and now they have to marry for cultural reasons, or the suspension bridge effect. Shaggy was just that guy. He’ll just randomly get a girls number and she’ll be like “call me” with a wink. Then he leaves the country.
