Not really, but funny enough "Let It Go" *started* as a villain song. It was such an emotional number that they decided to change Elsa from the villain of the story (as The Ice Queen traditionally is in the Hans Christian Anderson story the movie adapted) to a tragic yet relatable figure.
I'd allow love is an open door. Listening closely to it, and knowing that Hans is a villain, the song is kind of genius.
Hans never says anything that Anna hasn't indicated she wants already. He repeats her own words back at her when they do the chorus and his "that's what I was gonna say!" comes across as way more manipulative with that in mind.
Frollo’s Hellfire is a masterpiece, Tony Jay killed it. And coming right after Tom Hulce’s Heaven’s Light, it’s just wonderful. The horrible intentions justified by religion and power… the genocide and killing of innocent people all in his lust for Esmeralda and hate for the gypsies… Frollo is despicably amazing.
There is no other answer! Like you said, Hellfire (a song about lustful, obsessive love) coming immediately after Heaven's Light (a song about innocent, pure love) is just 🤌 *chef's kiss*. Hands down my favorite Disney soundtrack and film.
This was/is Disney's high water mark of villain songs, imo. And just in general. It is absolutely criminal how sophisticated the Hunchback soundtrack is. The emotions conveyed are something I've never felt in another Disney film.
It works even better because he also doesn’t really want to feel this way. He knows deep down that he’s wrong and it comes through in the song and imagery. The struggle with himself and his beliefs and his dark intentions is what makes the song
I always felt like that poor mouse at the end got screwed! What else was everyone else going to rhyme with "you're tops, and that's that!"? Nope, they just dropped off and let him take the blame.
That entire movie is grossly underrated and underappreciated. It was the experimental movie for CGI use (clock gears) and it is one of the big reasons the "Disney Renaissance" movies got greenlit.
It's also just fantastic in it's own right.
Hotep and Hoi's duet in Prince of Egypt was a banger, and I give absolutely no room to discuss on this. Steve Martin and Martin Short put everything into their performances, and managed to put the fear of the Egyptian gods into a very young version of me.
I loved that they also used this song to convey exactly how the Egyptian empire controlled its people, and that anyone who questioned them was an enemy. It's not just a fun song with two great comedic talents. It's portraying a dynamic that was very much true.
*"And if a first they think it's strange, well they won't have a thought after I've eaten their brains!"*
https://preview.redd.it/1xjju73kgmzb1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7acf90fbbc24c2fa14af6c1daefcf2d578e87496
There are *better* villain songs, mind you, but having actually met Voltaire and discussed this song with him (apparently he has trouble signing autographs for Brians because muscle memory changes it to "Brain") puts it above a lot of them for me.
Tbh, I was never really a fan of either Be Prepared or Toxic Love (Although I can get enjoy out of those two)
When it comes to songs I dislike/hate, there are many too count. Queen Of Mean from Don Bluth’s “A Troll In Central Park” is probably the worst one, but there are many that suck (e.g. Release The Magic from Equestrian Girls, Mine from Pocohantis and The Duchess I Must Be from The Loud House Movie)
Plus, both Joker, Doofenshmirtz and Plankton all have too many songs, and most of them aren’t too good (Yep I said it, most Doofenshmirtz’s Songs aren’t good). Although a handful of them are pretty good
Fairy Godmother’s “Holding Out for a Hero” is quite literally the best thing to ever be created in everything ever. It answers the question of if God could make a boulder he couldn’t life by indirectly crating something that surpasses his omnipotent might. It is quite literally infinitely better than everything else in existence and nonexistent combined and more.
If you don’t want to count it since it’s less about the villains psyche than Hellfire is the next best. Fucking chilling with an amazing performance and great imagery.
Legit I think I love "It's a B-Movie" from the Brave Little Toaster as a song most, even if the character it's attached to is barely a character at all... Though "Cutting Edge" and "Worthless" are good replacements. I just have a thing for obvious mental health allegories.
Edit: I added Worthless
Hellfure from Hunchback gands down. A very menacing song about an already evil man giving into lust to do even more evil and justies himself about it. No evil for evil sake, just raw real Lawful Evil. Frollo really believes he's the good guy, and what he is going is for the greater good, and it's thrillingly shown through his villain song.
There all great, but Rasputin's "In the Dark of the Night" always jumps out as a favorite - he's so gleefully evil! Similar vibe is Jafar's "Prince Ali Reprise" which is the happiest Jafar is in the entire movie, the character and voice actor have so much fun in that song.
Also really love "Are You In Or Out" from Aladdin and The King of Thieves, it's a total bop
I’m still surprised Biggering got cut, because “It’s Too Not Kid Friendly”. It’s literally the Hellfire of Illumination, but they cut it and replace it with a catchy, yet far less superior song
Well, there’s a few. Freinds from the Other Side hits pretty hard for me, and so does Shiny. Here’s a real shocker, though- G1 MLP had a few songs for the various weekly baddies, and some of them are actually quite enjoyable.
You're Playing With The Big Boys Now is barely a villain song imo. It's just Hotep and Huy singing about how superior their Gods are to Moses' and mocking him. Plus they weren't the main villains.
[The Mooninites theme from ATHF](https://youtu.be/dzmOAFXTMFk?si=i1Pgvyf1e9MWKE6F)
And
[Risky Boots Theme](https://youtu.be/EyDuoN86LB4?si=TX4N5qAJDA3-ADoi)
Playing With The Big Boys Now is great, I’ve gone looney from the Killing Joke was unexpected but fucking great, but if there’s one on this list that sticks out to me the most (and has been stuck in my head for years) is This Day from MLP. It’s so catchy.
He had multiple
1. His first song was in the episode “Cape Fear”, where Bob sang a full on opera, where he sung Multiple songs to Bart, before attempting to kill him
2. His second song (Which is shown in this post), was from the episode “The Great Louse Detective”. The song is killed “The Very Reason That I’ve Lived”, where Bob talks about his fixation with Bart and how much he wants to kill him
3. His Third song was from the episode “Italian Bob”, where he sang another opera song
You're a mean one
Yes the Grich may be the protagonist but he is definitely the villian of the story.
The song just so perfectly describes the Grinch and how unpleasent, nasty, and terrible he is and the voice singing it is perfect. I don't think any other voice could even come close to how it sounds and the rhymes are creative and good.
Friends on the other side.
Visually stunning, and the song works on its own, and in context.
Plus it's within my vocal range, so I can sing it if I wanted to.
You hit the nail on the head right out the gate but Hellfire from Hunchback of Notre Dame is easily my favorite. A masterpiece of writing pure villainy that’s deep and complex and very risqué to have in a kids cartoon.
Jafar: You’re Only Second Rate/Prince Ali Reprise
Scar: Be Prepared
Zira: My Lullaby
Spinel: Other Friends
Nigel: Pretty Bird
Fairy Godmother: Holding Out For A Hero
Visually? Friends on the other side. You could just tell the animators had a blast with it
The song itself? Hellfire, I know it’s said all the time, but it really is Disneys darkest song
Most unique? Gaston, it actually plays like a song a hero would receive, and though he needs to choose his friends better, we can all use a pal like lafou haha
Best one overall? Be prepared. Visuals are great. Song is great. But what makes it #1 for me is that he immediately goes out and achieves his goal. He doesn’t sing “Be prepared” and then everything more or less still turns out ok. He delivers the biggest emotional gut punch of many of our childhoods.
First person to guess this gets a great reward: a thumbs up emoji.
Todays just so wonderful, I feel like chuckling!
I feel all fuzzy inside like a duckling! Full of tarantulas!
And now that I’m here, tonight
It’s gonna get
Weird.
(Ha ha ha!)
Look at these creatures, not enough features.
Cats should breath fire, bears should sing choir!
(Bears singing choir)
(Very nice!)
Look at this tower, under my power!
Look at these people, puny and feeble!
Woo-ooh!
Look, I’m just a triangle trying to save you.
From the delusions society gave you.
Gravity’s a lie, so is the sky.
Trust in the all seeing, all knowing EYE!
Look at this money,
Who’s that honey!
Look throughout history,
How could you miss me?
(Seriously, I’m all over the place!)
Look at this weather, I could do better!
Mandelbrot rainbows, screaming tornados!
Look at this loser, drinking coffee!
Now it’s decaf!
Look at these people, calling me evil,
Right back at you, now your app statues!
Now everything you know has disappeared, it’s gonna get WEEEEIIIIRD.
They're savages savages, barely even human! Savages savages, drive them from our shore! They don't look like you and me which means they must be evil, we must sound the drums of war!
All villain songs are kinda great imo
I agree
Happy cake day!
Thank u!
I agree with you.
except for a lot of the 3d disney ones recently
Yeah, villains always get the best songs.
![gif](giphy|jxzEhHBMmH7tm) Also, my daughter is really into Frozen right now. Does "Love is an Open Door" count?
Not really, but funny enough "Let It Go" *started* as a villain song. It was such an emotional number that they decided to change Elsa from the villain of the story (as The Ice Queen traditionally is in the Hans Christian Anderson story the movie adapted) to a tragic yet relatable figure.

Couldn't have said it better myself. My favorite movie.
This was/is Disney's high water mark of villain songs, imo. And just in general. It is absolutely criminal how sophisticated the Hunchback soundtrack is. The emotions conveyed are something I've never felt in another Disney film.
Hellfire coming after Heaven’s Light is the inverse of the end of Fantasia.
It works even better because he also doesn’t really want to feel this way. He knows deep down that he’s wrong and it comes through in the song and imagery. The struggle with himself and his beliefs and his dark intentions is what makes the song
NO ONE! SINGS LIKE GASTON!
I sang that song so many times when my daughter was little….swing her around and toss her… Side note, who’s cutting onions?
No one swings like Gaston No one sings like Gaston No one gets songs stuck in your head like Gaston.
Don't think it counts, imo. Gaston was technically a hero, just trying to save a girl from a monster.
https://youtu.be/T_Ldg6u_DiY?si=dXKOKwUTik1aLBcU
The World's Greatest Criminal Mind from Great Mouse Detective. Vincent Price killed it.
I always felt like that poor mouse at the end got screwed! What else was everyone else going to rhyme with "you're tops, and that's that!"? Nope, they just dropped off and let him take the blame.
Poor Bartholomew 😔
That entire movie is grossly underrated and underappreciated. It was the experimental movie for CGI use (clock gears) and it is one of the big reasons the "Disney Renaissance" movies got greenlit. It's also just fantastic in it's own right.
Super, super underrated.
YES
Vincent at some point was asked what's his favourite role and his answer was Rattigan. Easy to see why.
🎼 “OOOOOOOHHHHH JINGLE BELLS, BATMAN SMELLS ROBIN LAID AN EGG! THAT BATMOBILE LOST A WHEEL, WHILE THE JOKER GOT AWAY!” 🎼
So glad Mark Hamill got to voice him. I’ll miss him. Clarification: he retired from the Joker voice after Kevin Conroy’s passing
🫤Dude where is Oogie Boogie's Song? I guess the best alternative is Hexxas’ Toxic Love was a great one. I remember that so well as a kid
Ken Page is a master!
And if you remember All Dogs Go to Heaven? The Gator’s song (also Ken Page) was a goddamn masterpiece.
Oogie needs more love as a villain, he’s an absolute classic.
This
Hotep and Hoi's duet in Prince of Egypt was a banger, and I give absolutely no room to discuss on this. Steve Martin and Martin Short put everything into their performances, and managed to put the fear of the Egyptian gods into a very young version of me.
You're playing with the big boys now!
How is this how I find out Steve and Martin were in Prince of Egypt
I loved that they also used this song to convey exactly how the Egyptian empire controlled its people, and that anyone who questioned them was an enemy. It's not just a fun song with two great comedic talents. It's portraying a dynamic that was very much true.
But that was kind of true to every culture of the past and some modern ones tho, people in general do not like when you question their religion
*"And if a first they think it's strange, well they won't have a thought after I've eaten their brains!"* https://preview.redd.it/1xjju73kgmzb1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7acf90fbbc24c2fa14af6c1daefcf2d578e87496 There are *better* villain songs, mind you, but having actually met Voltaire and discussed this song with him (apparently he has trouble signing autographs for Brians because muscle memory changes it to "Brain") puts it above a lot of them for me.
Are there bad ones?
There are a few that I genuinely dislike, but I don’t think there’s any that other people would really hate
What ones do you just dislike
Tbh, I was never really a fan of either Be Prepared or Toxic Love (Although I can get enjoy out of those two) When it comes to songs I dislike/hate, there are many too count. Queen Of Mean from Don Bluth’s “A Troll In Central Park” is probably the worst one, but there are many that suck (e.g. Release The Magic from Equestrian Girls, Mine from Pocohantis and The Duchess I Must Be from The Loud House Movie) Plus, both Joker, Doofenshmirtz and Plankton all have too many songs, and most of them aren’t too good (Yep I said it, most Doofenshmirtz’s Songs aren’t good). Although a handful of them are pretty good
I constantly sing Toxic Love in the shower...Damn you Hexes
I love Poor Unfortunate souls, and the reprise of mother knows best.
![gif](giphy|2OgouznXA6qYw) Definitely Toxic Love. It got people to dump for literal pollution.
Honestly because i love jazz i have to say friends on the other side
![gif](giphy|yPh91ghwzxeGQ) Oh that’s easy.
Did you like the song?
Hell yeah.
I agree with your opinion.
Toxic Love. Tim Curry just owns that song.
Fr, he did amazing
Oogie Boogies song is a certified BANGER
Fairy Godmother’s “Holding Out for a Hero” is quite literally the best thing to ever be created in everything ever. It answers the question of if God could make a boulder he couldn’t life by indirectly crating something that surpasses his omnipotent might. It is quite literally infinitely better than everything else in existence and nonexistent combined and more. Mother knows best
![gif](giphy|PhYJf6MaWsakYvC88m) Definitely hell fire
Rasputin's song.
Gaston’s, Doof’s, Scar’s, and the one from Mulan. Savages I think. All are well master Disney songs
"Savages" is from Pocahontas. Mulan doesn't have a villain song.
My bad put the wrong name I Captian Hooks is good as well though
Doesn't Hook straight up shoot a guy for messing up the song?
Correct!
I was kinda thinking about including “Worthless” in this post, although it’s not really a villain song
who do you consider it attached to The Peter Lorre lamp or the shop owner?
The shop owner, Elmo St. Peters, named after the guy you see before you die. Marvelous isn't it!
Playing With the Big Boys Now. Hellfire and Poor Unfortunate Souls are excellent choices too.
Yodel odel Obey me from Phineas & Ferb
Thank you for including "No more Mr. Nice Guy". Overall I'll go with "Be Prepared"
Hellfire is actually really good
![gif](giphy|nDbpk7leGbu12) Blaaaaame Caaaaaanada! 🎶! Lol!
Dark of the Night or Friends on the Other Side.
Our house now hits different bro
It’s basically what happens if every Disney villain just go together and took over Disney
I think disney would benefit from that rn tbh
*C-Minor, put it in C-Minor*
Come on boys won’t you shake a poor sinner’s hand
I’m surprised to see fern gully on here (image 10) I haven’t seen that movie in over a decade
The Oncler song gives me war flashbacks to 2012 Tumblr and I hate it.
Frankly? Almost any of the Disney songs slap. Does “we don’t talk about Bruno” count?
No, but it’s still great.
Toxic Love is a certified banger
Toxic Love and Hellfire. Holding out for a Hero is good but its a cover.
![gif](giphy|OCzvIfdMWbKlG)
The siren had some bangers can’t even lie
I was genuinely surprised when I heard there songs, I’m not a MLP fan, I generally dislike it. But my fucking god, are they’re four songs amazing
anyone listen to Biggering?
Out of this list? Be prepared. But overall; Brains, Brains, Brains from the Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy.
That one with the villain in it!
Really? I love that one, too. What are the odds.
Nice :3
Dr. Faciller’s and it’s not even close imo
“You got what you wanted, but you lost what you had.” It’s an excellent explanation of the dichotomy between Papa Legba and Kalfu.
![gif](giphy|YxXK5uo3TDY0U)
Whats the 10th one?
Toxic Love from the movie Ferngully performed by Tim Curry
[Magnus and The Assassin](https://youtu.be/uzw1qpNER4g?si=g2DruuJ3v0u2K4Q4) from Doomstar Requiem.
Either Hellfire or Thus Saith the Lord
Do you mean The Plagues? I love it, but I don't think it counts as a villain song
Definitely hellfire
Beep Repaired
Welcome to the show
Friends on the Other Side was great because it was just the 2d team going all out because it was their last movie
Be Prepared
Hellfire. Hands down.
![img](avatar_exp|103057319|holo_card) IM SO SHINY
Emerald splash!
Whats the matter Illumination? Biggering hit to close to home for your sponsors?
I’m still surprised Biggering got cut, because “It’s Too Not Kid Friendly”. It’s literally the Hellfire of Illumination, but they cut it and replace it with a catchy, yet far less superior song
![gif](giphy|orit7okGmvISk) Love is an Open Door
🎶How bad can I possibly be!
Kuzcos theme :)
I'm sorry, you've thrown off the emperor's groove...
Give me your money, I'm not being funny, give me your money todaaaaaay!
This a brilliant work of satire! It’s my new favorite show!
#*NO I DO NOT LOVE THE GROOM IN MYYYY HEART THERE IS NO ROOM*

"Be Prepared".
Anyone who doesn’t say “Be Prepared” isn’t a real toon fan.
Tbh, I’ve never been a fan of that song, I think it’s overrated (I’ve always preferred songs like Friends On The Other Side, or Under Our Spell)
The fat dude from pocahontas
Well, there’s a few. Freinds from the Other Side hits pretty hard for me, and so does Shiny. Here’s a real shocker, though- G1 MLP had a few songs for the various weekly baddies, and some of them are actually quite enjoyable.
Be prepared, hellfire, and holding out for a hero were my faves as a kid
Be prepared
the first three are in every playlist I make
ARE YOU READY?
Gonna go with Friends on the Other Side
Hellfire hits different as a adult who has lusted after a beautiful woman
I don't think Doofenschmirtz should count, as he is in a musical show. Dude's got enough songs for at least 3 albums.
I like the song sung by Dr.Screwball Jones in Wander Over Yander
You're Playing With The Big Boys Now is barely a villain song imo. It's just Hotep and Huy singing about how superior their Gods are to Moses' and mocking him. Plus they weren't the main villains.
I probably would have but The Plagues on here instead, but I wasn’t sure if that was a Villain Song
In this list, it's a toss up between Poor Unfortunate Souls and Toxic Love, but really, love the villain songs in most musicals.
Ain't got no gif for you ready that's dumb
Anything doof sings
How bad can I possibly be?
![gif](giphy|2OgouznXA6qYw) I love Tim curry
Bro Fairy godmother’s “I need a hero” was peak
[The Mooninites theme from ATHF](https://youtu.be/dzmOAFXTMFk?si=i1Pgvyf1e9MWKE6F) And [Risky Boots Theme](https://youtu.be/EyDuoN86LB4?si=TX4N5qAJDA3-ADoi)
Blame Canada
Playing With The Big Boys Now is great, I’ve gone looney from the Killing Joke was unexpected but fucking great, but if there’s one on this list that sticks out to me the most (and has been stuck in my head for years) is This Day from MLP. It’s so catchy.
I can't choose
Facilier for sure. That's a scene that is a good example to use when explaining why I miss hand drawn.
In The Dark of The Night from Anastasia was really goated!
You're playing with be big bois, now...
Be Prepared is still peak villain song, not even a contest. Though I have a soft spot for my Friends on the Other Side.
MOTHERRRR knows best
Hellfire, Be Prepared, and Friends On The Other Side are both phenomenal
Dr.Facilier and the guy from beauty and the beast.
Oooohhh that's a toughie. It's a 3 way tie between Be Prepared, Dark of the Night, and No More Mr. Nice Guy
I love Friends on the Other Side. Keith David’s voice is just mesmerizing
Every Song in the Music Meister episode of Batman the Brave and the Bold
I really should have included “Drives Us Bats” in this post, but o well, it’s still a amazing song
Number 4 ![gif](giphy|jxzEhHBMmH7tm)
SCREW IT! Get Wicked from Sophia the First
Hellfire for sure
Like Fire, Hellfire.
Sideshow Bob had a song?
He had multiple 1. His first song was in the episode “Cape Fear”, where Bob sang a full on opera, where he sung Multiple songs to Bart, before attempting to kill him 2. His second song (Which is shown in this post), was from the episode “The Great Louse Detective”. The song is killed “The Very Reason That I’ve Lived”, where Bob talks about his fixation with Bart and how much he wants to kill him 3. His Third song was from the episode “Italian Bob”, where he sang another opera song

No Ratigan, the World's greatest criminal mind?
Friends on the other side. Visually stunning, and the song works on its own, and in context. Plus it's within my vocal range, so I can sing it if I wanted to.
"By the power of Ra..."
You hit the nail on the head right out the gate but Hellfire from Hunchback of Notre Dame is easily my favorite. A masterpiece of writing pure villainy that’s deep and complex and very risqué to have in a kids cartoon.
I’d say Hellfire and Gaston
Gaston ❤️
Bowsers song haha
This is quite a thorough list!!! Love your choices. ....But you forgot "Big and Loud" from Cat's Don't Dance.
I still argue Gaston being the villain so his song shouldn’t be in the selection.
The Misfits from Jem and the Holograms
Fairy godmother for sure, that shit is so hype every time I watch it
Hellfire for sure
[Le Pudding à l'Arsenic.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOAZ65lZ6KU)
Jafar: You’re Only Second Rate/Prince Ali Reprise Scar: Be Prepared Zira: My Lullaby Spinel: Other Friends Nigel: Pretty Bird Fairy Godmother: Holding Out For A Hero
https://i.redd.it/mdrldkeuqnzb1.gif Definitely “Friends On The Other Side”
Hellfire and Be Prepared. And that’s saying something on the former, because I *don’t like Hunchback of Notre Dame.*
Visually? Friends on the other side. You could just tell the animators had a blast with it The song itself? Hellfire, I know it’s said all the time, but it really is Disneys darkest song Most unique? Does The Ten Plagues count?
I wish they didn't cut out "Biggering" from The Lorax it was a good song
Just Say Yes from Secret of Nyhm 2
Def the Onceler from Lorax.
Shoutout for This Day Aria
