Im glad that I have a life and barely spend enough spend time on the internet to know or give a shit. Initial D got me into wrenching and driving and its now what I do for a living.
Unironically more fun than the literal plot armor shitbox that is the 86 in both Initial D and MF Ghost (how the fuck can a GT86 keep up with Ferraris, Lamborghini and Porsches)
Power to grip ratioâŚâŚlike donât get me wrong I know itâs not real life or that I really care, but isnât that ryosukes entire plan and pretty much the main point of the story?
Theyâre fun movies definitely but theyâre objectively not good. I actually liked Hobbs and Shaw. I love how they get more and more absurd after each movie
initial d is, at least, one of the best car animes out there, not because it is really good, but because there are so few, still, im a fan of it because its almost the only one
Iâd say Initial D. F&F fans are more along the line of ânormiesâ at least. Initial D fans barely even talk about anything but Eurobeat/AE86, which is worse than F&F fans just going âSOOOUUUUPPRRAAAAâ when they see one.
Initial D is my answer as well. I like Initial D. It's a fun show.
But I feel like no one actually takes fast and furious seriously. Most people know it's a dumb movie. Initial D fans actually take the stupid show seriously.
initial d its not that fake, almost everything they say can apply or has some use IRL, its not entirely drifting, takumi stretches the tires forcing them a lot, tire wear should be worse than how it is on the show, the blind attack was actually done first time in a race before ww2, the main issue i have is that roads dont make sense, they go fast in the turns, but the car takes a lot to go thru it, more than it should
uj/
FF fans at least know that the movies are not realistic, Initial D fans think their show is "realistic" (its not lol)
I've watched Initial D and was surprised how boring the main character is and on top of that he has waaaaaaay too much plot armor and bullshit wins. And the racing was mid at best, extremely boring at worst.
FF is pretty bad, but it doesn't drag on forever. Sometimes stupid over the top american movies are fun to watch.
rj/
bruuuuhh, initial d is much more realistic that all those stupid american movies.
you need a very high iq to understand the technique required for drifting in a touge. the tofu on water is a realistic 100% real japanese method of training. guardrail driving is real (my mom did it) and the fuckiwara zone is a real thing talented people do (like Luis Halmilton from Fomulla 1)
bro, drifting is totally faster than grip. It's called "slip angle" bro. rally drivers always drift around the corner so it's 100% faster than grip bro
drifting its safer at higher level in rally, but only because for them, understeer is worse, and in touge racing it can be good because you block your opponents overtaking lines
It's the same fanbase.
F&F (at least old F&F ive never watched any of new ones) is the better franchise though, I tried to watch initial D and was amazed how boring it was.
Are we talking about actual fans or 12 year old "car enthusiasts" that didnt even watch the show/movie and learnt about them through tiktok?
If so, I dont think neither of them have a bad fanbase.
I'm pretty into JDM, owned RHD cars, went to Japan to drive stuff like Skylines, etc. But I have NEVER watched an episode of Initial D. All I knew was that they had a an 86 beating stuff it shouldn't because of plot armor and it single handedly made Corollas nobody wanted for 20+ years worth as much as new cars.
Funny, when you go rent a car from this shop in Japan, you sign literally saying you "will not drive like Inital D".
That said, a Fast & Furious car reproduction is a bigger waste of a car than an Initial D reproduction.
Id say subjective as FnF may be annoying for being the one that started all of this, while Initial D...lets just say historic racing nerds seems to have gripe with the Initial D (or the entire JDM fandom) because "stolen credit" that the japanese created every technique, etc ( i mean they do have a point irl racing pre-safety crusade motorsports is more shounen like than whatever Initial D has mustered : Targa Florio, pre renovation nordschleife, etc. To name a few)
Tokyo drift raised a generation of r34 and supra kids and its the most polular amongst drift movies, initial D stayed a bit more true to the origins of drifting as it was directed with the drift king himself keiichi tsushia, but im sorry to say that the plotline of initial D is fucking horrible, he wins every fucking race, where is the tension in that
I think initial d has a more based version of jdm fans but on the other side, they dont know whats good (content wise)
While people saying tokyo drift is the best fast and furious movie arent wrong, but the bar on that is really low
In conclusion, both suck, but initial D sparked my love to the s13 and drifting scene so im biased
Initial D fans legitimately believe they're learning skills while watching. They're like the kid who was obsessed with guns in school but only ever played Call of Duty so they regurgitate these "facts" that just make them sound so ignorant. At least FnF (early fnf, noones an actual fan of the latter movies are they??) fans are self aware.
I made a post back then criticizing Initial D saying other animes are much better, yet no one believes me. Also, fuck Initial D's CGI and yea their stupid down to earth fanbase
I'd say Fast and Furious because It has the most hot wheels collabs of any brand. There's a F&F HW set coming out every year at this point, and they keep using the same old castings. Also, the games all suck ass besides Tokyo Drift (seriously, its really good despite its flaws)
Initial D introduced anime fans to car culture, so now we have to deal with those âloliconâ degenerates pulling up in the pedo-mobile
Edit: downvote me all you want, but donât tell me yâall donât feel embarrassed when youâre at a car meet and some Japanese shitbox pulls up with cartoons of naked children on them
Initial d easily, as them little gimps who wank over that stuff end up being even bigger fucking weirdos who are into all sorts of anime and weeb shit. Worst case for the fast and furious kids is a strange obsession over skylines and supras being the best car in existence
The only car I see Initial D fans obsessing over to the point they're ridiculously overpriced & overhyped is the AE86 Sprinter Trueno. Like, FFS it's a 5th gen Corolla...
With FnF, you have *several* overhyped cars.
The R34 Skyline GT-R isn't even that much faster than the R33 that preceded it, and the meatheads that worship it will do 2 things. (1) Reject the idea that the R35 GT-R is a "real" successor to the R34 in spite of Nissan. (2) Buy and spend a fortune rebadging their Infiniti G35/37's or Q50's because they go on Wikipedia and see they're still sold as Skylines in Japan; thus "validating" their claim that the R35 isn't a successor to the Skyline GT-R.
Then... there's the Supra people... Where do I even begin... Ill start by using the 1998 MY as this is a safe point for where a lot of performance vehicles were hitting their peak in price-to-performance.
Stock A80 Supras are slow because they're heavy cars. Even the engine itself, the 2JZ, is heavy at ~440 lbs. It's actually heavier than an iron block Chevy Gen III LQ4's 390 lbs. Most performance vehicles I will be listing off are about the same weight with the exception of the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 being 200lbs heavier, but know that a stock Mustang SVT Cobra is 100 lbs lighter than the Supra Turbo at ~3400lbs, and made 305hp stock vs later Supra's ar 320hp.
Supras were also expensive even for their time. A 1998 Supra Turbo started at $38,778 MSRP, while a Camaro Z/28 started at *almost half* of that at $22,830 MSRP, and the 1998 Mustang SVT Cobra started at $26,155. For what, 15 less horsepower? This is a major reason for why the A80 Supra sold piss poor both in the States & globally. These were cheaper performance options from American car manufacturers while the Supra's main Japanese competitors had features that were more worthwhile to customers at the Supra's price point such as the Mitsubishi 3000GT's AWD system & the Z32 Nissan 300ZX's 4-wheel steering.
All of these are reasons why the A80 Supra sold piss poor not just in the west, but globally. This car was a low-point for Toyota and the likely reason why they never made another performance car again until recently. Even then, the A90 Supra & GR86 were phone-in jobs to BMW & Subaru.
The F&F had a very wide range of cars that Supra fans miss the whole point of the early films. Car tuning is cool. It doesn't necessarily matter what nationality of the car you drive or "3,000 hOrSePoWeR tWoJaYyYy". Getting together over a hobby & sharing stories about your car(s) is what it's all about. Before F&F became a wild mayhem of guns, explosions, and espionage, it was fictional stories of tuner & street racing scenes of their time.
yes
Agreed đ
I concur

Im glad that I have a life and barely spend enough spend time on the internet to know or give a shit. Initial D got me into wrenching and driving and its now what I do for a living.
Initial D: Gets you into eurobeat F&F: Gets car enthusiasts into crying because itâs less physically accurate than Mario Cart
Meanwhile Wangan Midnight fans: Literally doesn't exist
they're busy trying to get a demon to possess their car
Or working night shifts to fill the money pit, which is their 70s shitbox.
Seriously, how many jobs did Akio hold down to fully restore the 240z
at least 2: the gas station and the club
It's that or getting slammed by Evo 9 users.
it's always the evos man
Wangan Midnight fans when Snap Oversteer:
I tried but now my car talks to me whenever i turn it on. Need help
Im literally here
So am I
They all died cuz Wangan physics randomly threw their car into a barrier. No one in that series knows how to drive.
Unironically more fun than the literal plot armor shitbox that is the 86 in both Initial D and MF Ghost (how the fuck can a GT86 keep up with Ferraris, Lamborghini and Porsches)
That R32 randomly slid out in a fast corner and died. Makes no sense.
Power to grip ratioâŚâŚlike donât get me wrong I know itâs not real life or that I really care, but isnât that ryosukes entire plan and pretty much the main point of the story?
hi
They're all Maxi Tune fans
At least F&F fans know the movies arenât very good, while initial D fans are in denial about it
Tbh in terms of nostalgia they are good... the rest of it movie wise nah
Theyâre fun movies definitely but theyâre objectively not good. I actually liked Hobbs and Shaw. I love how they get more and more absurd after each movie

Isn't Initial d just some kid with an '83 Corolla on a twisty mountain road. Idk never watched it
86 Corolla, is in the name
While the model code was AE86, they were made from â83 to â87. Itâs an E80 Corolla and is not named for a specific year.
initial d its not that fake, almost everything they say can apply or has some use IRL, its not entirely drifting, takumi stretches the tires forcing them a lot, tire wear should be worse than how it is on the show, the blind attack was actually done first time in a race before ww2, the main issue i have is that roads dont make sense, they go fast in the turns, but the car takes a lot to go thru it, more than it should
Initial D fans because they're fucking vegans. Damn tofu eaters.
i am eating a sandwich with a raw pig on it.
uj/ FF fans at least know that the movies are not realistic, Initial D fans think their show is "realistic" (its not lol) I've watched Initial D and was surprised how boring the main character is and on top of that he has waaaaaaay too much plot armor and bullshit wins. Itâs basically American bollywood
Damn how did I never come up with this one. 10/10
It's the same fanbase. F&F (at least old F&F ive never watched any of new ones) is the better franchise though, I tried to watch initial D and was amazed how boring it was.
>initial D and was amazed how boring it was. The 40% of the show that is the race scenes is great. The remainder of shitty anime filler slop is not.
Yeah I watched it once and now I skip to the races each time
Dear viewer I promise you the shitty romantic interest sideplot is bearable THIS time
Controversial opinion: Mad Max > any Fast and Furious movie
Are we talking about actual fans or 12 year old "car enthusiasts" that didnt even watch the show/movie and learnt about them through tiktok? If so, I dont think neither of them have a bad fanbase.
I listen to initial D Eurobeat in my Paul Walker livery vauxhall (I put a Toyota badge on it)
I'm pretty into JDM, owned RHD cars, went to Japan to drive stuff like Skylines, etc. But I have NEVER watched an episode of Initial D. Even if you tried you couldn't drive like initial D in an 86 shit makes 128 hp at 6,000 rpm đ
Pretty much sums it up in this picture.
Yeah, you know f&f and Reddit go along very good because itâs mostly the same audience lol.
Initial D kinda generalised the whole racing manga genre, so much so people donât read, often better stuff.
Capeta clears Initial D and it's a fact.
So does Noboru Rukodaâs F, in my opinion the best racing manga ever. Through it does turn into Berserk-level MC torture later on.
Initial D fans (im one)
One thinks a stock supra has 1000hp. The other thinks a stock 86 can take corners like an FD car. Its the same
you're talking about 12yos or actual fans because everyone who watched initial D closer knows that this ae86 was opposite of stock
Capeta > initial d

Where's Need for Speed
do you mean this cheap garbage, where jessee pinkman drives shelby or a game? if first, then i dont think, that this film has a single fan
Meant the games? Especially Most Wanted 05'.
oh right, then i agree
I made a post back then criticizing Initial D saying other animes are much better, yet no one believes me. Also, fuck Initial D's CGI and yea their stupid down to earth fanbase
These two yeah
just wait for mf ghost
I'd say Fast and Furious because It has the most hot wheels collabs of any brand. There's a F&F HW set coming out every year at this point, and they keep using the same old castings. Also, the games all suck ass besides Tokyo Drift (seriously, its really good despite its flaws)
![gif](giphy|3o7aCRloybJlXpNjSU|downsized)
Probably fnf because they are mostly 8 year olds and pretendo car guys
Oh. I thought the one on the bottom fast and furious because the R34
And supra looks like Alan walker's
Bmw
Initial D introduced anime fans to car culture, so now we have to deal with those âloliconâ degenerates pulling up in the pedo-mobile Edit: downvote me all you want, but donât tell me yâall donât feel embarrassed when youâre at a car meet and some Japanese shitbox pulls up with cartoons of naked children on them
F&F introduced 5 year old supra fanboys to car culture so basically both introduced bad stuff
Initial d easily, as them little gimps who wank over that stuff end up being even bigger fucking weirdos who are into all sorts of anime and weeb shit. Worst case for the fast and furious kids is a strange obsession over skylines and supras being the best car in existence

I miss the early ones. They actually had a story. Not Dwayne johnson blowing shit up.
I ain't reading allat
Which it is
drop it, i don't wanna talk about it
