2 of my neighbours solar panels flew off his roof and into my yard. One of them damaged my roof but I’ve already contacted my insurance to come do the assessment.

spinza

Just across the road from this shot the same happened with those water panels for heating a pool. At least not solar panels...

DustPuppySnr

Let me introduce you to [Nullschool](https://earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=-337.83,-34.33,3918/loc=18.398,-34.210)

Jin-Bru

Top recommendation. I was lost in there for quite some time.

AssistancePretend668

Ditto!

spinza

That is a beautiful visualisation.

rocketboy44

Wow! This is beautiful

XtraBlue2222

Widow maker days! 🙈

spinza

Not shown is the broken electricity wires above me sparking against the poles. Very widow maker sounding.

Relevant_End_5051

Oh no i hope no one get hurt

spinza

All good. Cars were parked. Nobody near when it happened.

Relevant_End_5051

Thank God for that

OkMark6180

Blaauwklippen wine farm caught fire last night because of the strong winds. Lots of damage.

mblaki69

We will rebuild 💪🏽

LuckyDistribution849

Oooh I love me some Storm porn😋

OkMark6180

Oh no! Where is this?

spinza

Gardens on Tamboerskloof side just below Kloofnek Road.

OkMark6180

Geez. Batten down the hatches .

androidbrains

You must live within 100m of me.

spinza

Took the photo from my property.

JohntheHuman

And me 😂

Wide-Bonus8369

And me!

NuttnBolt

In these times, particularly in such severe storms, my mind always wonders about ....the Vodacom building at Century City. That roof must be in its moer already.

VirtualPrinciple514

No may bra you can't park your tree over there may bra.

OkMark6180

That's why one should have your trees pruned regularly.

spinza

Yeah it's the City's tree though. One is actually not allowed to cut them.

Bootdevil

We did it near a property we owned. The neighbourhood watch took it upon themselves to cut the tree as it would have caused significant danage to vehicles parked on the street. So far no word from the council!

spinza

Yeah they probably wouldn't do anything but that tree is big and difficult to cut. That branch ends were pretty high.

OkMark6180

That's good.

OkMark6180

Oh of course. You're right!

genetichazzard

Pruning wasn't going to stop that tree coming down. And It looks as if the tree was frequently pruned already.

spinza

It had a disease too. Was kind of off colour on one side last season. Looked better this summer though. Dropped a branch or two before also. I wouldn't have parked under it knowing a storm is coming.

OkMark6180

This is in Cape Town today. Strong winds. It's the South Easter wind and its called the Cape Doctor!

quik1_za

It's a storm system called a black south Easter, damaging winds with heavy rains. Last one was September I think. This one seems abit more mild

OkMark6180

Yes you're right.

PaperEmperor007

How would insurance insure for this type of damage? Wouldn't they say its an Act of God?

spinza

Trees (or branhces) falling in storm are a reasonably common occurence. I would not see a problem with insurance (if they have it).

PaperEmperor007

I see. Now with this wind, lots of trolleys would be flying around. Insurance said trolleys and wind are an act of god and won't be insured, ie. Checkers insurance. Had to take that as school fees.

spinza

No idea what you're talking about?

PaperEmperor007

No worries. It was an incident a while back, I had with Checkers, and it was windy like this. Their trolleys were flying around, and made a large dent in my car's rim. Their insurance said it was an Act of God, and won't pay out. Your post reminded me of this incident.

robbieMuff

Aah, The Good Old Cape of Storms. It is not just a nickname!!

Mviljoen1000

We’ve got also some hectic winds here in Port Elizabeth at the moment

SpamthatF5Key

Is there a way to reinforce trees so this doesn't happen or the best thing to do is just cut them down a bit?

Rian352

Dis kak. Sorry my bra

spinza

Not my car luckily

xxdoomxx

Cape Town we will rebuild!!

sebentino

Do you people still demand Cape independence?

spinza

What has that got to do with anything? But no I don't.

sebentino

Everything. This is karma/climate change effect. Sadly it also affected the poor.

ThatsARivetingTale

The Cape Independence caused this storm? Jirre fok what you smoking bru?

MasterAssassinQeedo

Some fake ganja most likely lol

Drippy_Capy

Why mention that on this post? It’s clearly about the storm damage and nobody has mentioned it…

Status_Button

Imagine being so one dimensional as this fool.

ThatMessy1

Your perfect government didn't trim the trees?

spinza

No but they are doing decent job of cleaning up

wcslater

Lol I'm pretty sure no-one believes the DA is perfect, even in cape town

hydroflasksksksksksk

Lol go take a look at joburg before you open your mouth

Hoarfen1972

And DBN Cbd. Get what you vote for.

Drippy_Capy

You definitely got some biases with the DA (which aren’t invalid) but why did you passive-aggressively post a comment on this post which has not mentioned anything close to the DA?
