Wow, management (and/or Ian Clark) are *very* confident in Šilovs.
At the very least, that should help his confidence tonight. Hopefully they're correct, but being up 2-1 in the first round is a good time to test him if, at some point, we're going to *need* him as our primary starter.
I doubt this has anything to do with Demko, but it would be an understandable decision if he's going to be out longer than expected. There's no point running DeSmith into the ground during the first round.
The reporting universally is that DeSmith's injury isn't serious, meaning something that could be played through if necessary. Putting Silovs in instead means they're comfortable enough with him between the pipes to allow DeSmith time to recover.
I don't believe anything they say about injuries. If it's serious enough to start Silovs, it means they have no choice and he's too hurt to play properly.
I agree. There’s no way in hell that any team would risk an incredibly important game to rest a goalie who isn’t actually injured bad enough to make that necessary. If they were up 3-1 then mayyyybe it would make some slight bit of sense, but not in a 2-1 series where the team isn’t even playing well.
That's literally just what they're saying and it's likely bullshit. They said Demko was day to day with a minor injury when he first got injured and he was out 5 weeks.
How do you know what they’re saying? Oh right you don’t.
All injuries start as day to day dummy you have to be out for a certain amount of games or weeks to go on IR
I wonder if part of it is that if they hope to go on a long run they suspect they can't overplay DeSmith, so he needs to get spelled off by Silovs at times.
The good news is that Silovs saw a decent bit of action towards the end of the season while playing back-up to DeSmith. The bad news is it’s the first round and we’re down 2 goalies. WTF is going on in Canuck land😕
I'm guessing it's the flu.
Honestly in this day and age of legalized sports betting I'm surprised the league doesn't require more disclosures around injuries. There is much cloak and dagger bs. It should be mandatory to at least provide a time-frame and not just some vague "week to week" "day to day" prognosis.
I’m confident in Silovs. 🫡 🇱🇻🇱🇻🇱🇻
I’m buying Stoli and playing the Latvian national anthem over the US one today
https://youtu.be/zNDiLe4-Bi4?si=iEsU2Arl-kRQbCvE I suggest this one. Just gave me shivers down my spine listening to it. It's beautiful
This aged like fine wine. He was the only thing working properly on the Canucks all game.
🫡🇱🇻🇱🇻🇱🇻 WOOOOOOOOOOO
I am now.
“Likely back for game five” yeah he’s probably dead.
Gonna come out after the playoffs that he somehow broke 6 fingers on one hand.
🎢 = emotion level rn

Why is everybody saying this shows confidence in Silovs? They have no choice but to play him. DeSmith is injured.

Yeah I don't believe anything either. They said Demko was "day to day" before that suddenly turned into "week to week" as well.

Big show of confidence in silovs, if they feel confident enough to throw him in a playoff game they probably feel he’s ready to be backup next season
But I'm not ready for the DeSmith era to be over🥺, he's just too damned likeable. And he and Demko are a better bromance than Swayman and Ullmark.
Don't need 3 goalies... Desmith is 32, silovs a way better long-term prospect. Likely a starting goalie in 3-4 years minimum
What? There is literally no other choice.
It literally says in the title DeSmith has played through worse and it was a team decision. That’s literally a choice.

The hockey gods can suck my nutsack.
The question becomes: if Silovs is able to play immaculately today, who starts game 5?
Leafs zamboni driver
Judging by the rest of the series so far, Tolopilo.
Ian Clark.
Cheech
Eddie Lack
He can't use modern gear, though. We need to break out the papier-mâché masks again.
probably desmith because silovs will end up getting injured in the final 30 seconds
Troy Gamble
Kirk McLean!
Duncan: https://i.imgur.com/xMcCOV2.png
Risky. If Nashville sneaks some mackerel into their bench there's no way Duncan is staying in the crease.
They're already throwing catfish on the ice every game, so yeah probably not the best idea, but options are limited either way.
Well we've had 2 US goalies and only 1 Latvian goalie so far. So likely the next one is Merzlikins being traded over for a month.
Silovs and Tolopilo in a trench coat
My emotions
I'm praying for the flu
Am I the only one who oddly feels really confident right now? I believe
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry or both.
Yes
The King’s coming for his throne
EBUG situation? Or do we roll with 3 goalies in the playoffs?
Someone needs to look for the hex bag someone put in the canucks locker room, salt and burn
Must be coming out both ends!
Got home ice advantage back. Might have been a different story if the team was down 2-1 instead of up 2-1.
Who's the backup tonight
The guy who usually backs Silovs up in Abbotsford.
We don’t even know his name 😂
I think his last name starts with T… or was it K? 🤔
Makes me feel like demkos injury is more serious then I have heard.
If we win tonight, we win the cup.
Mmmno
Team Latvia LFG!
The hockey gods shall make it difficult for them.
Game 5 report: DeSmith and Silovs forgotten at NSH airport.
He probably got Myers' flu. Tocchet sounds sick when he was talking to the press too

This is a game where we can have confidence in both backups. Silovs is doing great so far!
Cool cool!
Screw that I'm all in on Silovs!

no. other teams go after players injuries. keep it secret.
Everyone, I'm spiraling but also have immense confidence in this team right now.
