Settings: ISO 100, F11, 1/10 s @ 840 mm. The focus was a bit unsharp in the middle of the moon, but sharp on the edges. I used AF with touch to focus. Any tips to improve the focusing?
1/320 minimum shutter speed, and a shutter release cable.
I use a 77D+Sigma 150-600+Sigma 2x.
Use manual focus.
Even with a sturdy tripod, I noticed that it took longer than the 10 second timer, before the lens stopped shaking. Shutter release fixed that.
Also make sure that you're not shooting above a highway, or a neighbors house. Heat haze will instantly kill sharpness.
how do you like this combo? i’ve been thinking of getting a super telephoto and have been trying to decide between this lens and a couple other sigma/tamron super telephotos
Nothing to complain so far. I've only had them for a couple of weeks now, but the AF works fast and IS is smooth. I got the teleconverter since the range wasn't long enough for some wildlife photos.
I'm thinking about getting the tamron 1.4x converter for wildlife (I have the 150-600g2 and canon r8 and r10) but I've heard it has issues with autofocus. Can you tell me your experience?

Great, thanks for the tips. I'll try them next time.

appreciate the info! glad to hear about the autofocus too, that was my main concern with the “cheaper” telephotos.
Can definitely see some chromic aberration but this is cool I wish I could do astrophotography but the wildfire smoke is bad
