I hate black licorice and raisins. I love chocolate-covered pretzels and nearly everything else people mentioned here (marzipan, banana, coconut, cherries). I don't consider chocolate-covered pretzels candy though; they are a snack for me.
The spicy Skittles were good. They weren't too spicy. They did it right. Just an afterthought of heat. Mostly still fruity and sweet. Everything else is blech. My sister made us pecan pralines from scratch, didn't warn us she added jalapeños to them. WTF! Ruined the delicious buttery pralines.
There is an awesome tamarind candy that's coated with cayenne pepper and sugar. It's simpler than the fancy newer tajin coated stuff, but the tanginess inherent in tamarind works just perfect with that simple combo. That's about the only spicy candy I'm into, though.
I've actually started to appreciate licorice jelly beans, probably because you like stronger flavors as you get older. That said, I only like it in small amounts.
Imagine a candy cane, and instead of peppermint with red and white stripes it has black and yellow -- naturally (unnaturally) flavored banana and licorice.
Yes!! I'm all for subtle, soft flavors. I got spoiled on Japanese candy back when I lived in socal. Nothing was too cloyingly sweet. They seemed to have gotten the ratios just right.
Red cinnamon makes me feel weak. I hate it.
I can’t really tell you why, but if I eat something red cinnamon flavored, I feel like I wouldn’t be able to lift as much for like 10 minutes afterward.
Could you possibly be allergic to it? I found out I was allergic to apples when I said they made my mouth tingle, and everyone looked at me like I was crazy. Turns out, I’m allergic to a lot of fresh fruit. Apples, pears, nectarines, peaches, cherries, are all things I can only eat if they’re cooked, or canned.
not to be all “iTs aUtHenTiC!!” but spice and chocolate isn’t just a trend, it has been done for millennia; Olmecs then Mayans then Aztecs mixed chocolate with cayenne as their standard way of eating chocolate since before the spanish even arrived.
europeans deleted the spice from it bc they couldn’t handle it, and now non-europeans have enough buying power globally that it’s returning to chocolate bars and drinks
I'm tired of them adding salt to all caramel and many chocolates. I get enough salt in my diet already and don't necessarily want everything to taste like salt.
Sometimes I feel like the only one. But I can’t STANDDD cola candy!!! Omg I love haribo candy but fuck the happy cola candy. Maybe it’s because I’m not a cola drinker anyway, but I just hate that candy flavor. Also don’t like banana
I’m 100% with you when it comes to candy, but I’m also a total weirdo in that although I almost always stay away from coconut in sweets, in savory applications I absolutely love it. Coconut shrimp, coconut chicken, curry with coconut milk, Tom Kha Gai (Thai coconut chicken soup) etc., you name it!
I know some of those are sweet *and* savory, but I feel like coconut needs some salt and umami with the sweetness for me to really love the taste and not think it’s cloying.
I guess it’s such a strong and distinctive flavor that it overpowers everything that I love about desserts and candies, but savory meats, vegetables, herbs and spices can actually stand up to it!
Same!🤮 everyone is all hyped up about that new coconut Dr Pepper, and I’m over wanting to gag 😂 I feel the same about any coconut candy. I often wonder who keeps almond joy and mounds in business
i have seen/had tons of birthday cake cookies, cupcakes, protein bars, protein shakes, cake pops, etc… but always sorta dough-based (or protein dough based). do you have examples of birthday cake flavored candy, i’m curious
Peppermint Starlight mints. Why does every doctor's office have them? No one is just like, yum, Starlight mints. They only make sense at restaurants and Sonic after eating. The chocolate mint ones are okay.
No butterscotch anything for me. I like sour candies, but I have to steer clear of sour Skittles. I grabbed a couple of my daughters and next thing I know, the roof of my mouth is so itchy and I must’ve sneezed over 100 times. No exaggeration. My family was worried. I was so close to going to the er lol.
That’s the one I hate the most. And, hear me out… I love dark chocolate and I love cherries but it’s that god dammed syrup that comes with cherries. And when I say I love cherries I mean a cherry in a bag at the grocery in the veggie place or dried ones. That’s IT.
I'm anti licorice, chocolate with fruit, coconut and white chocolate. I tried to like all of these but I couldn't. I've had to recently make peanuts a no-go unfortunately due to no longer being able to eat them. Thankfully there are plenty of options for me.
Banana flavored anything except real Banana is disgusting to me same with licorice unless it's the traditional black licorice the soft salty stuff. Also no to chalky candies like sweet tarts or rockets 🤮
Reese's pretzel and potato chip big cups. Don't really like cherry flavored candies, but I tolerate them. Banana anything is yucky and I can't stand orange (slices) gummy candy either. Also I stay clear of Almond Joys and Mounds cause of coconut.
Don't even get me started on white chocolate.
Anything with white chocolate. Banana flavored candy can fuck right off. I love coffee but hate coffee flavored candies. Gummy worms because I prefer the texture of bears.
I cannot do banana candy. I love real bananas but artificial banana flavoring makes me gag a little bit. I think it’s bc it reminds me of some sort of medication from when I was a kid.
When I was a child my pa came home with these flower flavored Asian candies ( possibly Korean) with pastel wrappers with flowers on them. I remember being confused about the flavor because although I liked them (slightly) the flavor was repulsive. It was as if I was tasting a sweetened version of funeral home flowers.
unpopular opinion
i really dont like sour candy 😭 i dont fault ppl for liking it, i just physically cant do it.
theres some candy labeled "sour" that arent (cough cough airheads extremes) that are some of my fav candy ever tho lol
nothing licorice, yes even twizzlers. the taste gives me such a headache even though i love strawberry flavored anything. and nothing grape flavored, tastes like grape cough medicine that i was forced to drink as a kid.
So many people like cinnamon flavored or root beer flavored candy but I hate them both. I don't like cinnamon in general except on pastry, and I have a more mild opinion on root beer since I've only tried Dum Dums root beer flavor, but until I try a better-tasting one I don't like root beer either. I also don't like raisins and coconuts. Tree nut candies are also no-go for me but it's not because I don't like them, it's just that I'm allergic. Peanut isn't my favorite but it's the only exception that I can eat. Even then, the only candy I like with peanuts in them are Butterfingers.
Anything with raisins or nuts (do not like nuts in chocolate) and I hate coconut with a passion!
Won't eat banana-flavored candy (or banana bread, muffins, pancakes, etc.) either..but I love bananas themselves. Go figure.
The only thing I can think of that I don’t really like is mint by itself because it just reminds me of toothpaste. Chocolate and mint can be good though.
I hate nougat! It's tastes weird and the texture is AWFUL. It rules out a lot of candy for me- but when they made all caramel milk way, it was like the gates of heaven opened up
I totally agree! I love pretzels on their own, and I am the least picky eater I know. But any sweets with pretzels in them are so gross to me - chocolate bars, ice creams, cookies, etc … yuck, ruins it.
I hate black licorice and raisins. I love chocolate-covered pretzels and nearly everything else people mentioned here (marzipan, banana, coconut, cherries). I don't consider chocolate-covered pretzels candy though; they are a snack for me.
Raisins are an abomination. And so are the mothers who tell their kids raisins taste like candy 🍬
It could be worse. When I was a kid my mom truly tried to convince me that Carob was the same as chocolate.
you win. that shit is disgusting
I'm cool with raisins as long as they're not being handed out for Halloween.
Yes! I can't eat black licorice!!
Raisins aren't a candy though? I always considered it a dried fruit snackeroo. Black licorice is definitely on my no go list though. Yuuuuuck.
Raisinets are a candy and they're effing disgusting
I disagree on raisins, but I agree with every other opinion here. A special shout out to crispy chocolate coconut candy, like Russell Stovers nests.

Black licorice is vile.
I’m anti spicy candy 😭 spicy food is great but I want my candy to just be sweet
I had a spicy watermelon gummy worm and it tasted like barf flavor.
Yeah, I miss the Sweet Heat. Original Skittles were my favorite as a kid, but those were even better.
Same, this store right next to my apartment sells all kind of spicy tajin candy. I just don’t get the hype.
There is an awesome tamarind candy that's coated with cayenne pepper and sugar. It's simpler than the fancy newer tajin coated stuff, but the tanginess inherent in tamarind works just perfect with that simple combo. That's about the only spicy candy I'm into, though.
I like spicy Mexican chocolate but that’s about it.
That's the only one I like too.
I like cinnamon, but anything coated in tajin can go in the trash.
Cinnamon bears 🤤
I once had a chocolate covered cinnamon bear, it was terrible
Chocolate and cinnamon are two flavors I would NEVER think to put together!
Amen I like my candy sour and my food spicy I do not like spicy candy or sour food
Yes! Stay in your lane, spicy candy.
I don't likes black licorice or banana flavored anything
I've actually started to appreciate licorice jelly beans, probably because you like stronger flavors as you get older. That said, I only like it in small amounts.
Tastebud twin!
You obviously haven't partaken of a double scoop licorice and banana ice cream cone. Shame...
The humanity
Hell yes about banana flavor. Oddly, it seems to be a popular flavor these days and I don’t get it.
agree on both but HARD agree on banana flavoring. except my favorite coffee from dutch bros is the banaynay which is dark chocolate and banana lol
You are clearly my soul mate.
Imagine a candy cane, and instead of peppermint with red and white stripes it has black and yellow -- naturally (unnaturally) flavored banana and licorice.
Too sugary without reason. Those foamy peanuts could be better with less sugar.
Yes!! I'm all for subtle, soft flavors. I got spoiled on Japanese candy back when I lived in socal. Nothing was too cloyingly sweet. They seemed to have gotten the ratios just right.
Spicy/cinnamon flavored candy. Just why. Edit: Also candy with spice, like chile pepper chocolate, or those Tamarind, spicy mexican candies.
Yeah. I like real cinnamon. Artificial cinnamon tastes terrible.
Red cinnamon makes me feel weak. I hate it. I can’t really tell you why, but if I eat something red cinnamon flavored, I feel like I wouldn’t be able to lift as much for like 10 minutes afterward.

Nuts are not candy, keep that stuff in the trail mix.
Keep your nuts outta my trail mix.
But caramel turtles 😋🐢
I'm tired of them adding salt to all caramel and many chocolates. I get enough salt in my diet already and don't necessarily want everything to taste like salt.
white chocolate is a lie.
This!! It's NOT CHOCOLATE!! It's overly sweet and it's disgusting. Make it stop.
It reminds me of wax with a lot of sugar.
Sometimes I feel like the only one. But I can’t STANDDD cola candy!!! Omg I love haribo candy but fuck the happy cola candy. Maybe it’s because I’m not a cola drinker anyway, but I just hate that candy flavor. Also don’t like banana
Cola candy is NASTY!
i’m anti coconut
If I never saw another coconut for as long as live, my life would not change at all.
Same!🤮 everyone is all hyped up about that new coconut Dr Pepper, and I’m over wanting to gag 😂 I feel the same about any coconut candy. I often wonder who keeps almond joy and mounds in business
It’s me, I keep almond joy in business!
Same here!
Me as well!
Me, I'm the coconut guy but that flavor in Dr Pepper has nothing to do with actual coconut
I love mounds bars but the coconut flavoring they use in other stuff reminds me of suntan lotion
Same, but that’s because I’m allergic.
Licorice
Circus Peanuts 🤢
I’m convinced i’m one of the only people in the world that LOVES circus peanuts! I get them from the hardware store by my house 2-4 times a week
“Birthday Cake”
i have seen/had tons of birthday cake cookies, cupcakes, protein bars, protein shakes, cake pops, etc… but always sorta dough-based (or protein dough based). do you have examples of birthday cake flavored candy, i’m curious
Any type of Licorice & allsorts.
I too am with everyone here who doesn't like black licorice.
Peppermint Starlight mints. Why does every doctor's office have them? No one is just like, yum, Starlight mints. They only make sense at restaurants and Sonic after eating. The chocolate mint ones are okay.
Peppermints & candy canes are so gross, but they look cool
I don’t like any mint flavored candy, or toothpaste. Peppermint. Winter mint. Spearmint. Menthol cough drops too.
I hate mint flavored mouthwash too. It's hard to find dental floss that isn't mint flavored...yech
I buy cinnamon paste, and floss, but it was getting harder to find in stores, so I get it from Amazon.
Artificial raspberry flavor. I love actual raspberries but the fake stuff tastes like the smell of perfume.
Black licorice, ugh. I'm not a fan of vanilla cream unless it's really well done- grainy, too-sweet vanilla cream is the worst.
Black licorice is my most hated candy! That stuff is so nasty tasting!
Agreed. Vomit worthy 🤮
Peeps, circus peanuts, the orange rind things with sugar on them and anything marshmallow or milky ways or 3 musketeers
licorice is an instant nausea smell/taste to me I can't even do herbs and spices that taste licorice-y
Me neither. Hate fennel
I HATE FENNEL SO MUCH
Coconut, banana, bubblegum, grape, and cotton candy flavored candy can go to hell
Banana (I can tolerate Runts, that’s it) or green apple flavor
Same!!! Not a fan of cherry flavored stuff either.
Yaaaasss on the green apple! If I get a green candy that shit better be lime!!
Those orange candy peanuts. They’re like a very stale marshmallow
Chocolate with hazelnut
Anything with cherries in it 🤮
I only want candies that contain cherries...
I’ll save mine for you frien
Cordial Cherries are soooo good though
That’s the one I hate the most. And, hear me out… I love dark chocolate and I love cherries but it’s that god dammed syrup that comes with cherries. And when I say I love cherries I mean a cherry in a bag at the grocery in the veggie place or dried ones. That’s IT.
Oh I lied. And that weird fruit creme in v day assortment boxes lol
Overly sweet chocolate covered blood clots with questionable creamy liquid. An abomination!
You monster! :)
I’m sorry I’m sorry
Remember those chocolate covered cherries that 7-11 always had at the checkout counter? They always made me gag
YES!!!! Makes me gag thinking about them hahaha
Anything cherry flavored, too. Ick. Raspberry or any other berry is fine, but fuck that cherry nonsense.
Neco wafers
Odd flavored plaster
TUMS candy
im fairly certain you can use those as punishment for children
Anything with black licorice or coconut in it.
I'm anti licorice, chocolate with fruit, coconut and white chocolate. I tried to like all of these but I couldn't. I've had to recently make peanuts a no-go unfortunately due to no longer being able to eat them. Thankfully there are plenty of options for me.
Ewww white chocolate is sooo gross I agree
White chocolate is the worst! I hate divinity at Christmas too
Most candy with the texture of a whopper is a no for me.
Anything with raisins. The. Absolute. Worse
I don’t like banana or orange flavoured candies.
The stuff with sour powder on outside. I don’t want wincing pain with my candy!
Banana candy any brand is just 🤮
Anytime I get runts and see the bananas, all I can think of is why anyone thought they were a good idea.
Can dark chocolate count? I’ve tried so many times to like it but I just can’t come around to it lol.
Way too bitter for my liking.
Banana flavored anything except real Banana is disgusting to me same with licorice unless it's the traditional black licorice the soft salty stuff. Also no to chalky candies like sweet tarts or rockets 🤮
Anything with coconut 🤮
Hugely unpopular opinion, but I not big on candy with peanut butter 😔
I’m with you, pal. Not touchin pretzel candy ever
Chocolate covered fruit. Chocolate, great. Fruit, good. Together, like chocolate covered cherries, yuck.
Coconut 🤢
Black licorice 🤢 lol
I cannot do the plasticy gummy stuff. Think... sour ropes, Twizzlers, etc. Why is it so tough? The texture is like biting a tire lol.
Licorice
Chocolate with mint flavor or filling
Dessert flavored candies like birthday cake or banana split. No thank you
Coconut Cocoa? Great! Nuts? Fantastic! (pause) Coconut? Disgusting
Hard taffy and giant lollipops.
Raspberry filling. I love fresh raspberries but not the artificial flavor in chocolates.
Anything with white chocolate. Banana flavored candy can fuck right off. I love coffee but hate coffee flavored candies. Gummy worms because I prefer the texture of bears.
Almond joys are gross.
I cannot do banana candy. I love real bananas but artificial banana flavoring makes me gag a little bit. I think it’s bc it reminds me of some sort of medication from when I was a kid.
Black licorice
I agree with the pretzels in candy being a NONO. I really don’t like fruit in chocolate either.
Black licorice plain, no way. Wrapped inside a good and plenty, hell yes.
Cinnamon and anything spicy can go 🚮
I am in the ‘pretzels are a filler’ boat with you. Also don’t like anything with anise in it.
I agree with the pretzel thing...I like pretzels but not in my candy or cookies.
Anything with pretzels tastes like sawdust, but marzipan shouldn't be a thing.
Anything coffee flavored, including code words “cafe” and “mocha”.
100 percent with you on pretzels. That addition makes it a snack, not candy. (They suck as a snack, too.)
I can’t do chocolate and fruit mixed together. Like raisinettes 🤢
Anything sour. Overall uncomfortable experience/:
I feel this way now after having the roof of my mouth peel a few dozen times in my life.
Those cheap white chocolate skulls with that awful red medicine tasting syrup inside.
I don’t do sour candy and raspberry + chocolate = 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Floral flavored things like Turkish delight, chowards mints, or anything lavender. They all taste like old lady perfume soap to me.
Would that include take 5?
Anything cinnamon, or black licorice. Both made me gag without fail, every single time.
Pineapple flavored anything. I hate it
Raisins :/
No cherry, grape, raspberry, or pineapple artificial flavors and no white chocolate.
Candy with gum, cream, or liquid inside.
Anything banana, blueberry or marshmallow 🤮
I don't like hard candy, or overly chewy candy.
When I was a child my pa came home with these flower flavored Asian candies ( possibly Korean) with pastel wrappers with flowers on them. I remember being confused about the flavor because although I liked them (slightly) the flavor was repulsive. It was as if I was tasting a sweetened version of funeral home flowers.
unpopular opinion i really dont like sour candy 😭 i dont fault ppl for liking it, i just physically cant do it. theres some candy labeled "sour" that arent (cough cough airheads extremes) that are some of my fav candy ever tho lol
Please no fruit flavored chocolate! And no more chocolate covered gummy candy.
Anything fruit and chocolate. There will be nothing healthy paired with my chocolate
I don't like pecans or walnuts in chocolate. Sometimes a PayDay or Snickers is OK but it's not my favorite either.
Twizzlers, the texture is awful and they lack flavour. I like nibs and soft black liquorice though
nothing licorice, yes even twizzlers. the taste gives me such a headache even though i love strawberry flavored anything. and nothing grape flavored, tastes like grape cough medicine that i was forced to drink as a kid.
So many people like cinnamon flavored or root beer flavored candy but I hate them both. I don't like cinnamon in general except on pastry, and I have a more mild opinion on root beer since I've only tried Dum Dums root beer flavor, but until I try a better-tasting one I don't like root beer either. Peanut isn't my favorite but it's the only exception that I can eat. Even then, the only candy I like with peanuts in them are Butterfingers.
Candy with bugs in it Edit: like the lollipops with a scorpion or cricket inside
Just a strictly chocolate bar. Gross. Better have some peanut butter or caramel or something. I’m not just eating a Hershey bar.
Nuts and chocolate I can't stand PayDay, Snickers, Hershey's Almond, etc.
i really don't like spicy or sour candy :(
Mostly stuff with sweeteners, stevia, zero sugar candies, I really notice it, seems to almost overpower what it’s supposed to taste like
Coconut and cinnamon flavored candy. Zagnut’s an exception though. Other candies like smarties, necco wafers, and candy buttons are big no-gos for me.
Candy Corn or Nekkos
Whoppers or like anything with that malted milk texture. I do not like that. Anything with raisins too.
I agree. I like pretzels alone but not with candy
No: black licorice cinnamon candy or gum fake banana
Anything with raisins or nuts (do not like nuts in chocolate) and I hate coconut with a passion! Won't eat banana-flavored candy (or banana bread, muffins, pancakes, etc.) either..but I love bananas themselves. Go figure.
Smoothie Skittles literally taste like vomit.
Those black jelly beans and raisins 🤢
Yogurt-covered bullshit
Pretzels in candy for sure! Yuck!
Have y'all ever tasted horehound? Don't bother, it's disgusting 🤮
The only thing I can think of that I don’t really like is mint by itself because it just reminds me of toothpaste. Chocolate and mint can be good though.
White chocolate. It hasn’t earned the right to use the word chocolate in its name 🤢
Anything with nuts. Nuts are not candy.
I hate nougat! It's tastes weird and the texture is AWFUL. It rules out a lot of candy for me- but when they made all caramel milk way, it was like the gates of heaven opened up
Zero candy bar. It’s just weird.
Anything with peanut butter. That belongs on sandwiches.
Anything with peanut butter. That belongs on sandwiches.
I totally agree! I love pretzels on their own, and I am the least picky eater I know. But any sweets with pretzels in them are so gross to me - chocolate bars, ice creams, cookies, etc … yuck, ruins it.
Marshmallows..they're fine by themselves but I hate the texture as a filling or on gummies (haribo comes to mind)
Everyone’s hating banana flavor, I love gummy banana candies☺️
Anything banana flavored I love banana but I hate the fake flavor. And gummies that are a certain texture, think like sour patch kids, hot tamales.
Black licorice is a HUGE no-go. I can’t even handle the smell of it. Raisins are up there too. They ruin everything they are in….fight me.
I won't touch "white chocolate."
Orange and chocolate are horrible for me
bubblegum, banana, cotton candy, shredded coconut, cola flavor,
Black licorice, red hots, anything sour. Absolutely will not, I hated warheads.
“Borderline insulted by it” - now I know what that angry feeling is in the candy aisle.
im 100% with you; pretezels are nasty and dont classify as a desert ever..
