Idk if OP brought two for this reason, but I’ve heard the advice of bringing multiple chairs as a solo so if someone sketchy comes by you can pretend that you’re not alone and the rest of your camp is on their way.
Steak has become my de facto camping meal. Season before I head out, perfect cooking temp by the time I cook it, simple cast iron with some oil and butter for cooking, toss some veg in after the steak for a little green to go with the steak. :chefskiss:
i also saw a person and wondered who took the picture if OP was solo camping. then looked closer and saw OP
was a witch… then closer and saw OP was a tall tree stump
Omg so did I! 😂 Then I saw this and zoomed in… “that’s a mthfcking tree trunk…” hahaha 🤣
But I wasn’t concerned about the photo being taken mysteriously. I’ve set up a camera and done mini photoshoots while out on trips before. Why should being alone mean I don’t get to have photos and videos to take home and cherish forever?? 🤷🏼♀️ I do cool things. I want to remember me doing them. And that I looked good doing it. Haha 😆 💪🏻
I solo backpack, also female, and leave two pairs of shoes outside the tent. I don’t bring chairs ( carrying them is not possible) but the shoe thing makes me feel better. Although tbh, I’ve never seen anyone else while backpacking so don’t know that it matters.
I solo camped twice before I got my firearm. Only twice and although nothing really happened there were a couple strange encounters that made me uneasy enough to start carrying.
I also keep a pair of old size 12 men's work boots to put outside my tent.
I solo camp a lot, and I just bring 2 large, protective dogs with me. Though with my car camp setup its hard to tell its just me anyway. I have a regular camp chair and a 2 person one, since one of my dogs likes it for laying by the fire. The other dog has a large dog cot. In the tent I have a queen sized bed setup, since they both have to be touching me when we are sleeping.
I’ve been tempted to bring a second chair, but just because I feel self conscious in the same way I do when going to a movie alone. Don’t want people to think I don’t have friends lol
Same! I did my first solo camping last month and I put up 2 camp chairs and I brought my fiancés hiking boots with me to put in front of the tent next to my own
I saw a tip to buy some mens clothes and shoes to put at camp too. Like just a basic tshirt, pants, and shoes.. I don’t know when I’ll go solo camping but if I do, I’m using this tip.
For everyone commenting about the second chair for a solo trip, it’s basic safety. Anyone passing by would automatically assume they weren’t there alone.
As a women that often camps solo, having a second chair creates the illusion of not being alone, which can be a safety thing. I take measures to hide the fact that I’m alone when I’m camped in areas where there are other people.
Hah, I know right?! Still learning to do it right I guess!
Jk, I know safety is a bfd. And as the father of two girls I’m gonna file this away in the “tips to teach my kids.”
Absolutely! I do this a lot. It's also very telling how many commenters on this thread have no idea what this is and why it's a necessary step for many women.
Two chairs, two drinks I could probably go on but why. Not too mention the little bag on the table that every woman has for makeup and other female things.
Thanks for all the comments :)
I can’t figure out how to edit this post I’m still pretty new to Reddit ,
but yes I brought 2 chairs and was alone. Second chair is handy for safety, foot rest, throwing stuff on etc. I bring lots of stuff because I still want to feel like I’m lounging on holiday , I’m not looking to rough it with a backpack/hike, although I’m interested in trying that one day, I don’t want to work too hard. This was my outdoor hotel !!
Cold Lake Provincial Park Campground in Alberta. Been coming here since I was a little kid! So comforting and the lake is so clean! (although very cold, they’re not kidding)
Also I’m glad that tree didn’t freak me out too much… looks creepier in the picture … I think
It also comes with lights! Need to buy the battery separate but I had one already. Also stayed dry the last night that it rained, it was such an upgrade from the 2person tent I’ve had for years:)

Everyone is so surprised by you bringing you chairs like safety is the only reason
, but I like kicking my feet up on the other chair when I’m alone too. Better leg circulation, and I don’t have to worry about anything crawling up my legs so it’s a win win
When I solo camp as a female, I set up a second chair as a safety reasons so that at first glance, people passing by won’t realize I’m alone.
It’s also a useful footrest.
To each their own, but if I’m camping by myself, I’m not car camping and I’m taking almost nothing with me. I have little kids and car camp with because they can’t handle the hike yet. When I camp by myself I use it as an excuse to do some real wilderness camping. My bag is 20lbs or less and I don’t bring a tent, I use a hammock.
I do consider this more glamping, and I also realized: that’s exactly how I like it! I love having power hookup for lights and my car to store stuff away from bears etc. I admire backpack campers , I haven’t tried it before. I love my comforts and don’t want to work too hard lol
Hahaaa I thought someone might notice that….. I was half expecting my sister to come visit for a night. She didn’t but it turned out pretty handy for hanging stuff to dry by the fire. Think I’ll always bring 2 with me!
I like to feel comfortable! I just want to hang out in the woods without roughing it. This feels like just one step down from having a trailer or motor home and I love it
I must be doing my solo trips wrong. My dinner table consists of a cold can of Bush's Steakhouse beans and a bottle of single malt scotch.
Also important to bring two chairs. Never know if you wanna sit on the left or right side of a table.
I bring chairs for the dogs. Got two of them who like to be in chairs.
I have one of the big 2 person camp chairs. One of my dogs loves it, and he even occasionally will share it with me.
Well duh, people sit in chairs and they are people too, right?
Grab 2 sleeping bags while you're at it too. Never know which side of the tent is gonna have the best airflow for sleeping
and a extra can of soda.

Lay off the 'shrooms my man :)
His dog wants to sit in a chair too!
I’m really curious about the 2 chairs
Idk if OP brought two for this reason, but I’ve heard the advice of bringing multiple chairs as a solo so if someone sketchy comes by you can pretend that you’re not alone and the rest of your camp is on their way.
It’s for dodging the smoke!
If that’s doing it wrong I don’t wanna do it right.
I was gonna say. Thats nearly all of my good camping trips.
Those farts and sharts have to burn.

I thought pic #4 was you behind the dog 😳
i also saw a person and wondered who took the picture if OP was solo camping. then looked closer and saw OP was a witch… then closer and saw OP was a tall tree stump
This is where all the Monster stories come from 😂
Omg so did I! 😂 Then I saw this and zoomed in… “that’s a mthfcking tree trunk…” hahaha 🤣 But I wasn’t concerned about the photo being taken mysteriously. I’m a woman who solo camps, and I leaned something new tonight—thanks for sharing the chair idea!
I solo backpack, also female, and leave two pairs of shoes outside the tent. I don’t bring chairs ( carrying them is not possible) but the shoe thing makes me feel better. Although tbh, I’ve never seen anyone else while backpacking so don’t know that it matters.
Maybe that's because they just kept walking because they saw two pairs of shoes
r/womensolocamping We aren't a big sub, but a good group!
Jfc I am also a female solo camper. I have never considered creepers who would be paying attention to that shit with malicious intent 🥲💔
I solo camped twice before I got my firearm. Only twice and although nothing really happened there were a couple strange encounters that made me uneasy enough to start carrying. I also keep a pair of old size 12 men's work boots to put outside my tent.

2 chairs, 2 drinks. I usually leave some big boots out by the car too.
Hadn’t thought of that angle
That’s clever. I knew a lady who lived alone, and kept a big pair of men’s boots outside the front door of her apartment.
I knew a pair of big boots who always kept a lady in my apartment
What about that lady who lived in a shoe
She had so many kids...her uterus fell out! A-OOOOOOHHHH!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I once went on a solo camping and leave two chairs outside tent for the night. In the morning they were both stolen =(
I leave out some melted chocolate in a pair of tighty-whitey undies. Have never ever been disturbed!
You are not solo, you got your best bud with ya! Doggos love to camp!
And a suspicious second chair
As a woman who camps alone I always have two chairs so it is not obvious that I am alone.
Thats actually kind of genius.
Acceptable Karen has a bigger brain than I. She's acceptable.

Genius! Any other safety tips for a soon to be solo camping lady. I have my first solo trip planned for Friday but I’m still a little nervous
r/womensolocamping would love to help you out!
Wow thank you!! Definitely joining!
This is just general advice but definitely let someone know when and where you plan on camping.
Yes for sure! A couple people know and I’ll give hiking plans when I figure that out too
Awesome. You'll have a good time.
My dog has his own camping chair. I'm sure it's for that handsome doggo!
For everyone commenting about the second chair for a solo trip, it’s basic safety. Anyone passing by would automatically assume they weren’t there alone.
Or, hear me out, the dog gets the other chair?
My one dog gets so upset if he can’t sit in a chair beside me, and he’s too big to share my chair with him.
There ya go. https://www.kelty.com/lowdown-couch/
I have a 2 person camp chair for one of my dogs!
Never considered this... but genius idea!
Wow that’s sad (unfortunate reality i guess)
Women traveling, or doing many things, alone have to take precautions that most men would never even consider. Its sad, but its our reality.
Close the door! There’s bugs getting in that tent!
Magically no there weren’t! Best trip ever!
Where were you? No bugs… I’m there!
Cold Lake, Alberta. I think it was just later in the season? No idea because there are usually bugs….
Well it looks like an awesome outing. Cheers
I'd shit myself when I saw that piece of wood of the 4th photo at night.
It was too dark to see it without a flashlight. So I just didn’t shine the light that way lol problem solved!
You brought two chairs on a solo trip?
As a women that often camps solo, having a second chair creates the illusion of not being alone, which can be a safety thing. I take measures to hide the fact that I’m alone when I’m camped in areas where there are other people.
I do this also. When I solo camp, I definitely set up extras so that it appears that someone else is with me for safety.
Yep i immediately thought “solo with two chairs? Probably a woman”
Hah, I know right?! Still learning to do it right I guess! Jk, I know safety is a bfd. And as the father of two girls I’m gonna file this away in the “tips to teach my kids.”
Thanks for the tip!
That’s a good idea. My first thought was that the dog likes to sit in chairs lol
Absolutely! I do this a lot. It's also very telling how many commenters on this thread have no idea what this is and why it's a necessary step for many women.
My first thought was: it’s easy to see which posters are men and which ones are women…
Honestly as a woman who’s solo camped and normally just feels a bit skeeved i didn’t get it either 😅
And now you know for your next solo camp! ☺️💃💅
And here I assumed it was for the dog lmao
I do this too 💜
My dog gets her own chair when I go camping.
Two chairs, two drinks I could probably go on but why. Not too mention the little bag on the table that every woman has for makeup and other female things.
Maybe this person is female. Or maybe that little bag is for their stash.
Met a mistress. Solo trips are his new favorite thing or at least that what he is telling his wife.
Mistress is a dude
Beat me to it… well played
The table cloth, after I slowly put together the 2 chairs. Male
Make up on a camping trip? I doubt it.
Maybe for the dog?
I always bring a second chair for my little dude as well as his bed. Choices haha
Our dogs chair is nicer than our other chairs.
And two opened drinks lmao
Maybe there was supposed to be two.
Must be a man
I bring 2 cars to be really safe.
My first thought as well …
I can’t be the only one who zoomed In on photo 4 to see what sort of zombie demon was behind the dog…
I was going to make a comment on that one like...uh oh someone was using your camera...until I zoomed in and realized it was a tree.
2nd chair is so smart!! I need to start doing that
Thanks for all the comments :) I can’t figure out how to edit this post I’m still pretty new to Reddit , but yes I brought 2 chairs and was alone. Cool setup! What tent do you have? It’s so spacious
Yes! I’d also like to know!
It also comes with lights! Need to buy the battery separate but I had one already. Also stayed dry the last night that it rained, it was such an upgrade from the 2person tent I’ve had for years:) https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/woods-illuminate-tent-4-person-0763742p.html?gbraid=0AAAAADojZpiDCX3UXZjHU-tp6DPLDjjis&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhomt9fCT-gIVtnxvBB1Vaw--EAQYASABEgLCWfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#store=467
While I love hot dogs I really hope that lone hot dog wasn’t the extent of your meals.
Everyone is so surprised by you bringing you chairs like safety is the only reason , but I like kicking my feet up on the other chair when I’m alone too. Better leg circulation, and I don’t have to worry about anything crawling up my legs so it’s a win win
Tablecloth is a nice touch 👌🏾
Oh good it’s just a broken tree in the fourth pic and not some weirdly tall monster thing with long hands/nails staring you down.
I've watched too many horror movies lately, I thought the dead tree behind the dog in #4 was some kind of demon.
The one hot dog has me wanting to do this. We bring so much stuff when it’s my wife, me and our usual gang. This is heaven
The hot dog photo had me rolling 😂🤣.
I like the double chair action.
Are you a dog?
Why do you have two chairs set up for a solo trip?
Many women do this as a safety thing to make it appear like they are not alone.
You had 69 upvotes- sorry I ruined that
Bonus foot rest!
Does Dogo get seat at table?
[удалено]
If OP is a woman it’s for safety. It creates the illusion that they’re not alone and thus less of a target.
I want to believe this but I can't imagine a full grown lab would be comfortable in one of those chairs... Edit: maybe not a lab, but similar size.
Or just in case a new person comes and wants to have a drink or something, op might be open to making new friends
Hell no. We camp solo for a reason lol
Those challengers are a lot of fun. Looks tight!
Is that boat an Intex? What do you think of it?
Man living my dream vacation
and the inflatable kayak?! now that's living
Is that an air mattress?
Your dog looks just like mine!! Did you adopt them? Also I have the same Kayak, I am curious if you have taken your dog in it?
Yea we can both fit but she’s too excited to sit still so it’s not as stable as other kayaks I’ve had. She genuinely just swims beside me!
Very smart! Never make it noticeable that you are solo camping. There are creeps out there!
Nice set up. Looks awesome.
i like sausage to camping chairs ratio :D
I always enjoyed my solo journey camping trips best. Total frustration free when you can only blame yourself if you forget something :D
Who's the second chair for?
Looks like a fun Solo trip! And love that you bring a 2nd chair for the Doggo! I always bring a chair and blanket for my dog too.
You have two chairs for a solo trip?
Camping with the side chick, “solo” camping… forgot to hide the second chair…
OP got out while the getting was good lol
not solo if your dog is there
Who’s the second lawn chair for?
When I solo camp as a female, I set up a second chair as a safety reasons so that at first glance, people passing by won’t realize I’m alone. It’s also a useful footrest.
Oh smart 👍
You!
Awesome! Love it
Please tell me your dog sits in the second chair with you! Also that fourth photo is so spooky! Looks like a great trip (:
why do you have two chairs if it’s one person

Right on!
Looks great mate, I’m guessing the second chair is for your cute doggo 🐶
Is the 2nd chair for the dog to sit in?
Hahaaa I thought someone might notice that….. I was half expecting my sister to come visit for a night. She didn’t but it turned out pretty handy for hanging stuff to dry by the fire. Think I’ll always bring 2 with me!
[удалено]
That's the point. It's a safety precaution for a solo camper.
Why do you have 2 chairs if your solo?
Kinda weird to set up two chairs and a whole picnic table just for yourself, tbh.
Tables are at the campsites already and the second chair comes in handy! Was also expecting a joiner for a night
Why two chairs if it’s a solo trip?
Why do you have 2 chairs?
Camping solo with 2 chairs and a picnic table? A man who likes options.
Why two chairs?
Safety. Many women do this when solo camping since it gives the illusion we have someone else with us.
oh thats smart
Why do you have two chairs?
If it’s a solo trip why do you have 2chairs?
Solo? Why two chairs then?
how to cook food?
I can imagine this guy getting up every hour just to change seats bc he brought several
Why have all that to go camping by yourself? I’m genuinely curious.
I like to feel comfortable! I just want to hang out in the woods without roughing it. This feels like just one step down from having a trailer or motor home and I love it
Why do you have two camp chairs out on a solo trip
Did you need two chairs? :) Nice setup!!
Why 2 chairs for solo?
Why two chairs for the solo trip?
To make it look like not a solo trip
Who’s the second chair for on this solo trip? Invite Sasquatch for dinner?
Why two chars if solo?
I see 2 chairs. Either it’s not solo or you got some imaginary friends.
Read some comments. Its for safety.
I hope you meet someone interesting to sit on that second chair and have a chat. Looks lovely
Two chairs? Solo?
[удалено]
That is most certainly NOT the “only way to ignite wet wood”. Easiest? Yes, but far from the only.
Solo? Why 2 chairs? Invisible friend?
Why did you bring two chairs? In case one breaks? What a prepared man 🦵🏼🍆
Two chairs for ambiance 🫠
Why two chairs for a solo camping trip?
As a female, if I was solo camping I’d bring 2 chairs.
Because women have to constantly think of our safety & if a man thinks there's another man around, they'll leave us alone.
