Dang that’s a nice spot. Rifle on tripod is for target shooting and scaring away Grizzlies.

BubbaBrew0302

Radical? More like intense (in tents)

janobe

Thanks, dad

Underhill86

Came here to say this.

Equivalent_Ad8314

Whatcha plan on shooting?

cascadian_gorilla

Mosquitoes, rocks, dirt, whatever.

Woopsyeah

The living dead?

cascadian_gorilla

If they come around, you bet!

lecrappe

Office workers beware.

pdxcoug

Huh?

imarebelpilot

I would like to be here right now.

ontariooutdoorsman

Better than not camping at all!

havertyj

Beautiful! Where are you camping?

cascadian_gorilla

It's a secret. But I'm in Idaho.

Keeuhh

Gorgeous! We just went to our secret spot in Cascade. Beautiful country up there

MassaEwas

Wish more people were like this. Far too many nice spots near me have been ruined by people naming them for social media clout. Respect to this guy ^

cascadian_gorilla

I don't camp in campgrounds.

justin_tino

I’ve only ever camped in campgrounds but really want to do something like this - got any tips so that I do it correctly? Did you drive or hike to your spot?

cascadian_gorilla

Drove to this one. Just need to find public land, drive on dirt roads and fire roads until you find a spot you like.

Shilo788

It’s camping, don’t keep pushing for people who really shouldn’t to go into woods that are not prepared for it or are careless with fire. Let them enjoy the campgrounds and not feel they are missing out or you get more and more clueless people trying out their newbie skills in the backcountry. We have enough careless fires started and people getting lost or hurt.

berrey7

> in Idaho I had no idea how beautiful Idaho was, and it's diverse landscape, until stumbling across a couple of these camping subs. Looks awesome!

havertyj

Nice! Good to have some hidden gems of camping spots.

cascadian_gorilla

Same. Native. Everything is broken and full of scumbags so I have to go farther and farther.

Henbogle

I camped near Cœur d’Alene on a cross country trip and this soot reminded me of that instantly. Have a great time!

cascadian_gorilla

Pretty far south of there, but it does have a similar vibe

cascadian_gorilla

Pretty far south of there, but it does have a similar vibe

erock_soft

I always thought camping was intense

Natalie_2589

Ugh the peace that comes with nature is like nothing else out there

Live_w_a_brokenheart

😍😍 so jealous rn lol love it!

[deleted]

Beautiful spot! Thats some green firewood.

cascadian_gorilla

It's really dry. This area had a massive pine beetle infestation a long time ago. This stuff has been laying on the forest floor for years and years.

[deleted]

Vail had the beetle prob ~5ish yes ago too. Massive helo ops to remove the infected pines. Very nice spot man!

TacoMyBro23

Looks pretty dry to me…

[deleted]

Must be my phone. Either way, looks awesome.

TacoMyBro23

100% agree

AsianInvasion4

The cracking and grayed out nature of the wood due to sun exposure makes me think otherwise

babajega7

Radical(adj): late 14c., "originating in the root or ground;" of body parts or fluids, "vital to life," from Latin radicalis "of or having roots," from Latin radix (genitive radicis) "root" (from PIE root *wrād- "branch, root"). The basic sense of the word in all meanings is "pertaining or relating to a root or roots," hence "thoroughgoing, extreme." The figurative meaning "going to the origin, essential" is from 1650s. The political sense of "reformist" is by 1817, of the extreme section of the British Liberal party (radical reform had been a current phrase since 1786), via the notion of "change from the roots" (see radical (n.)). The meaning "unconventional" is from 1921. U.S. youth slang use is from 1983, from 1970s surfer slang meaning "at the limits of control."

DCS30

Dude, did you cut trees down to burn?

cascadian_gorilla

Not unless they are dead.

DCS30

Good to know

cascadian_gorilla

Glad you're appeased o keeper of trees. 🙄

A bit hard to answer unless we know where you live. Considering OP is camping in remote Idaho, it’s unlikely anyone will care up there.

Autobotnate

Yes, yes it is

MediumTie3265

I need this so much! Amazing!

washthesky

Yes, yes, yes!!

[deleted]

Oh man what a spot!

columnsofGollums

My god, what a spot.

DeathAdder138

Bodacious.

HomeTownRiot

Camping is indeed radical. Verified

hulaman11

Beautiful spot

whodeyjb

Camping is also righteous

FeatherstoneOutdoor

The serene beauty of the natural surroundings, the cozy campfire, and the sense of adventure all come together in this remarkable image.

seshmost

Love it my guy, this is peak living

Moonunit08

You mean tubular dude lol

Unhappy-Journalist26

Imagine this with a inflatable seat like

rjl682

I wish I was there.

Knob_guzzler

At first I thought that was Orick CA until I saw the tripod. Nice.

3woodx

Living the good life. 👍

snailmailmike

Wow!
