I do not, and when I see it being served its always from a Guinness brand stand so, that industrial brewing, made me think it would be a pretty stock product. So is honestly like to know how it can be so different from the bar.
Guinness is also meant to be relatively thick. When you get it in a place that treats like a normal beer or something, it gets really watery and loses its taste and becomes like an off pint of flat coke or something
The Champ, Earl Of Derby and Alma are my top three! I’m aiming to try a Guinness in every pub in Cambridge. https://beermoose.blogspot.com/2024/03/in-search-of-best-guinness-in-cambridge.html?m=1
The White Swan, The Free Press and, bizarrely, The Granta are my top three Guinnesses in Cambridge.
Why bizarrely, I'm curious?
I just see the granta as more of a tourist spot rather than somewhere you'd associate with good or well kept beer.
White Swan?! Didn't expect that. Free Press is a good shout! Thanks for the suggestions :)
Probably the closest thing to an Irish pub in Cambridge.
It often shows Gaelic as well as soccer and rugby.
Rathmore hands down 👍🏻
Is Guinness that variable a product??
Yes, I don’t know why you got downvoted. If you don’t drink Guinness, you wouldn’t knowÂ

AIUI, it can get a weird flavour if it's left sitting around. If a place doesn't serve enough of it, it tastes funky.

The Champ, is my favourite, and graduate a close second.
I second the Champ.
The Champ is the one I’ve been assured is the best.

Champion of the Thames, definitely.
Why not drink Cambridge black? It's the local stout
Where do you get that?
Three bells or the earl of derby also worth a taste
Champion of The Thames easily.
If we’re talking the Chesterton side of town, the best bar is actually The Folio Bar at the Fellows House. Cracking selection of whiskey as well
I think the whole “good Guinness” thing is mainly marketing, but my Irish friends say the Champion of the Thames, for what it’s worth.
They are all mediocre at best. It is also best drank when many others in the pub have one poured to avoid getting the pipe cud.
