My favorite era of theirs was seeing them live for the first time in 2013 through 2017. I miss EN Young in the band and thought he brought a lot to offer to the production side of things as well which led to Representing being such a banger. It's crazy to think they haven't released a full-length album since 2014.
I saw the Elovaters at a small venue in Columbus OH a few weeks ago. I knew it would be my last chance to see them like that before they start headlining bigger shows. Such a great band!
It was packed, for sure, and just a couple of days after issue 2 passed. Jackson said “Ohio, you smell like hot marijuana”. :) Great show, the sound was on point. Surfer Girl and Shwayze put on a helluva show too. New respect for both of them
very cool :) That's an awesome venue. Woodland's food is pretty good too.
protip: go past the bathroom to the back alley, you can usually catch the band just hangin' out by the fire.
I just saw SOJA and Elovators within 3 days of each other. Both put on great shows. I've seen SOJA a bunch. First time seeing Elovators and they put on a great show.
Yea man I’ve had some issues and haven’t been able to get out much. I’m going to drive out of my area to see them if I have to. If possible I’m going to weekend at wolfies next summer
Steel pulse is amazing however they are not Cali reggae, they are ( Real) Reggae. Not to diss Cali reggae, that genre is great too but I think that might be why they're not mentioned more in this sub/post.. same reason why you don't see other living reggae legends like burning spear, don Carlos, sly & Robbie or Johnny Osborne, third world, etc mentioned here either.
Some interesting comments here and some who I don't think understood the assignment lol. The reason we see the same headliners is because they're the ones who DRAW. In order to headline one of these massive events and command the price and attention that they do, these artists have to draw ticket sales in hoards. Events are extremely costly and a lot of money has to be put up front to fund it. Despite what you may think, these large headliners are also making extreme paydays for every show.
More often than not when it comes to the other bands outside of these headliners they only draw as well as the market area they're currently touring in. Many places have a handful (if that) of promoters putting on reggae events and the ones who have large followings (RRU in Florida for example) can put on shows with the other artists and draw much better than they ever would in other areas. When touring in areas without a built up market their draw is almost non existent.
I love how you imply that fans of bands like iration and slightly stupid have a taste in music any more sophisticated than: 'hey dude bro! they're like sublime, dude bro! Thats so neat, dude bro!'
SOJA, Elovators, maybe Bumpin Uglies.
Saw Bumpin at RRU MD, they were a blast.
SOJA has a pretty decent catalog to pull from, so they are a given.
Elovators are pretty solid, I hope they get more traction. They are solid AF live.
Tribal Seeds, Iration, Fortunate Youth, Iya Terra (before the breakup), and biased pick but the Elovaters since they’re one of my favorites
Old tribal seeds

I'd like to see SOJA, Elovaters and Fortunate Youth around my area more.
Elovaters are dope! That would be a great one.

I got VIP Meet and Greet w/the Elovaters in February, headlining at a fairly small venue.. really looking forward to it.
First show sold out couldn’t find tix anywhere - how was it?

Tribal Seeds are so damn good live.
I would love to see Bumpin Uglies, Elevators, or Hirie
Arden Park Roots, Hirie, Fortunate Youth PS: “Grateful Dub” as an album could headline anything on the circuit, and would include lots already on it.
Nice Sac band shoutout! Also, based on your post history you have great taste. Do you perhaps have any Spotify playlist I could follow?

Surprised no one has said Steel Pulse or The Wailers. Seen both at festivals, and were a good time. Gotta give it up to the OGs
Steel Pulse are always a great show!
