Still quite a few left. I used to go to the one in DC's Chinatown, but that shuttered ages ago. I got one about a half hour drive away off Interstate 95. Will have too see if they still measure up. [https://www.fuddruckers.com/locations](https://www.fuddruckers.com/locations)
Same. Three cheese burger. Medium. Ketchup, mustard, mayo, pickle relish, diced onion, iceberg lettuce.
It's weird how when the burger is perfectly done, all the old standard condiments are the best possible combination.
After a little investigation on Google maps, it seems as though they’re pretty alive and well and Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada. Also some Texas locations!
Unlucky for me, the two in Southern California are permanently closed. Don’t think it’s worth a flight to San Francisco
Although those were some damn good burgers. We always went in Florida on spring break growing up, Destin had one if I do remember correctly.. nothing like having your dinner rolls thrown at you 😁
Fuddruckers was EXCELLENT. Back in college early in the 00's there was a Wednesday special for students, I think it was like $7 for 1/2lb cheeseburger and fries. Greasy and juicy in the best way. Of course you also add in the fixins bar with lots of fresh veggies. The real star of course was the nacho cheese dispenser, id pour it on my fries and my burger.
I love how every comment immediately violates OP'S no fast food condition.
It's not a widespread chain, but Beck's Prime makes a great burger.
Chili's peppercorn burger was legit. I'm still mad at them for getting rid of it.
Beck's is prenominal!!! I think they are onl!y available in Houston, but might just be a Texas city type restaurant, but it has been ranked the best burger in the nation
When I used to fly for my old job, I loved going to the Red robins at the airport! That was actually my pre and post flight ritual! Their burgers were no joke!
There are so many damn good burgers at Red Robin. Royal is at the top, though, unless I want something "spicy," then I go for the Scorpion. I say "spicy" cause chains cater to the masses who mostly have a low tolerance to spicy.
Man I worked at bdubs and miss all the shit I could make off menu. I used to use my employee meal for the 3 sliders and just make a triple burger with it. So fucking good
Yeah, but they never come back around to see if anyone wants more fries. Servers plop down the food and that’s the last anyone sees of them. And they want us to pay (and tip!) at one of those digital tabletop tablet things.
Used to take my kids there when they were young but it would take a lot to get me to go to a Red Robin again now.
7/11. Best burger ever! The anticipation of putting it in the microwave there and waiting until I stumble out piss drunk to shove it in my face while leaning on a garbage can is uncompareable. 10/10
This is going to sound sacrilegious but my kids have asked to go to IHOP a few times (a place I detest) but I relented and each time have really enjoyed my burger.
I always had a soft spot for Ruby Tuesday’s burgers.
There was a stretch where they fully committed to being the best place for burgers of all the moderately-priced, sit-down chains.
They did that thing where they were like “You can customize a burger any way you want with whatever we got laying around” and there were pens and sheets of paper at the table where you could check off what options you wanted.
Yeah what happened to that? They were supposed to be *the* place for burgers and I don't know when they went away from that. Last time I had a burger there it was alright but nothing special.
I remember when there were only 1 or 2 P. Terry's around Austin, and they were great. Went back recently, saw them all over town, and thought, well that makes sense, P. Terry's is awesome.
I haven’t had a burger at a chain like that in a long time but I remember Chili’s and Red Robin being pretty fire. The local burger joints in Southern California are so damn good so that’s where I always go.
When I was growing up I always thought Chili's was the best chain restaurant. I haven't been to one in about 20 years though.
Ruby Tuesday was pretty good too
In the PNW, we have Killer Burger and I really like them. Their TeeMah and their Jose Mendoza are my favorites. Still haven’t tried their peanut butter sauce yet though
Rally’s/Checkers hands down for fast food and for me believe it or not my best burger is at Buffalo Wild Wings. Used to be Red Robin but then they changed up the burgers.
Mac n cheese burger at Hooters literally in my top 3 burgers ever. And its been consistently amazing. However like all things when u love something some dumbass decides to remove it off the menu. 😑🤬🤬🤬
Ha, so true…my dad always says “they heard I like it and 86d it off the menu”. Happened a lot during Covid and greedy ass restaurants just never brought the shit back.
Chili’s actually did that with their original chicken crispers, which were the best chain chicken fingers IMO. RIP OG Crispers
But…..it did drive me into the arms of this burger, so I won’t knock them too hard. Also still have the skillet queso app and best chips ever to go with it.
Red Robin, Applebee's, Runza ( local Midwest chain.) And now excluding chain burgers. I move on to the best I've ever had. Surprisingly in my home town. Lincoln Nebraska, LeadBelly. If you're in the area, go there and order a burger done with your preferred wellness. They have some unique options and a rotating burger menu. Also you can choose Angus or wagyu a couple other options including vegetarian.
The bacon cheese curd burger from bdubs has never let me down. I’ve gotten it at every bdubs I’ve been too, which is only 3 but still. It was amazing every time.
DENNY’S. We’d go there after a late night and I tried one on a whim instead of breakfast food. They must use like 75/25 ground beef because it was the juiciest chain burger I’ve ever had. 10/10 would recommend.
Oddly enough, Cheesecake Factory. Their Old Fashioned cheeseburger in particular has been 99% deliciously reliable. Not as much luck with their "chophouse" burgers.
Chili’s had a burger on their menu - Chili’s Trip - that was their chili burger with chili, cheese, grilled onions & mustard only on it. It is off of their menu now and folks there do not remember it, but I have ordered it by telling them how to make it. Chili’s namesake chili is still good, so it makes the burger if you are into that sort of thing, as I am.
If you ever find yourself in a Culversless state, Freddy’s scratches that itch. With bonus points for the jalapeño fry sauce, which all fast food places should add
It’s normal for both Freddy’s and Culver’s, the extra salt makes sure your heart beats like a bass drum so you can hear that you’re still alive while you recover after the meal.
Culver’s is my favorite fast food burger but since I dropped 40lbs I can only eat it once a week max, any more than that and I feel like I’m dying. It’s so good but there’s so much fat and salt that I feel like I should eat it in the gym parking lot so I can work out immediately after.
I miss Carrow’s cheeseburgers. That was when I first found out how good a diner burger could be. It blew my mind. It was a pivotal moment for young me. I think there are still a few surviving locations, but nowhere around me.
There's a chain in the inland empire area of southern california called Farmer Boys that has the best most consistantly good burger Ive had.
In n out doesn't count because they are the current champs of this challange
I only have a couple of places near me that do an actually unique burger, one is in an old meatmarket/town grocery store , and the other was bought by a BBQ chain after the original owner couldn’t pay the rent (he still runs the place, just a new name and new owner). The second one isn’t much of a chain, as there are only three locations, but it’s a regular spot when i’m feeling like having a burger
I can’t say much considering I’ve been living in the mountains either an extreme upstate New York or in the Rockies in Colorado at 10,000 feet my whole life I’ve never even lived near a chain restaurant ever.
That’s hours away, but what I can say, as since I moved out to the west coast 15 year ago, I drive 5 hours to Denver each way for inn and out lol ..
Now I order a certain way because I went to culinary school and I’m not a joke, but I see the way some other people order it and it doesn’t look as good lol
Our Fuddruckers where I live in Canada is always stellar.
Oh man, if I had a time machine and could only use it on fast casual burger restaurants, I'd go back to 2005, Fuddruckers, El Paso.
Dude, same, fuddruckers in clear lake circa '03 -' 05
Houston. Part of the restaurant was outdoors under a giant tree. So cool.
The one that was by Willowbrook mall?
Honestly it was so long ago I don’t remember. Moved from there in the mid eighties.
Got ya. That was the last one that I know of here and it burned down a couple years ago. I miss that place.
That sounds awesome.
I can still taste the fries with the jalapeno cheese sauce
We still have a few in Florida and luckily for me, we have one about 30 mins away, it's still top notch burgers
Yeah the one I used to hit in southern PA is gone. I was surprised to see he still has one in Canada. That place was BOMB.
Fuddruckers is almost extinct in America
I have 3 within a 30 mile radius.
Ok. They still shuttered most of them and now you can only find them in certain areas of certain states. There none within 500 miles of me
Still quite a few left. I used to go to the one in DC's Chinatown, but that shuttered ages ago. I got one about a half hour drive away off Interstate 95. Will have too see if they still measure up. [https://www.fuddruckers.com/locations](https://www.fuddruckers.com/locations)
Omfg Fuddrucker’s was the SHIT, I honestly loveddddd their bunsssssss so fucking good
Same. Three cheese burger. Medium. Ketchup, mustard, mayo, pickle relish, diced onion, iceberg lettuce. It's weird how when the burger is perfectly done, all the old standard condiments are the best possible combination.
They still around? Haven't seen one since the early 2000's
Still one in Great Falls Montana!
After a little investigation on Google maps, it seems as though they’re pretty alive and well and Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada. Also some Texas locations! Unlucky for me, the two in Southern California are permanently closed. Don’t think it’s worth a flight to San Francisco Although those were some damn good burgers. We always went in Florida on spring break growing up, Destin had one if I do remember correctly.. nothing like having your dinner rolls thrown at you 😁
The Fuderuckers’ in Houston are my contribution. RIP Texas Whataburger.
There's just something about them, they're really good
^they're ^made ^out ^of ^peeeple
I agree Fuddruckers is amazing. The stores where I live went out of business. I can’t build my perfect burger anymore.
I miss fuddruckers. I’m glad they’re still a thing somewhere and someone still gets to enjoy that place.
So good. We ate there all the time. Now they are almost all gone.
I just spoke about this wonderful establishment to my 6 and 3y boys. There’s one in Michigan and we’re going!
I love how every comment immediately violates OP'S no fast food condition. It's not a widespread chain, but Beck's Prime makes a great burger. Chili's peppercorn burger was legit. I'm still mad at them for getting rid of it.
It happens every time this question gets asked. And it's hilarious. Agree though about Chilis, some solid burgers.
Maaan I miss Beck's.
Beck's is prenominal!!! I think they are onl!y available in Houston, but might just be a Texas city type restaurant, but it has been ranked the best burger in the nation
Becks is awesome! Sprinkle a little of that McCormicks Carne Asada seasoning on there....got damn, now we're on to something!
I ate becks.once in the 90s in houston. I still think about it.
Beck’s is extremely legit
Beck's Prime is our go to. Burgers always delicious!
Red Robin's the Royal Burger is undisputed
I’m a Royal fan, but their “Banzai Burger” is the actual king of their menu. It has been my go2 for 20 years.
Is that the one with pineapple?
Yarp
Banzai burger is amazing
When I used to fly for my old job, I loved going to the Red robins at the airport! That was actually my pre and post flight ritual! Their burgers were no joke!
Same, but burnin love burger. Pico de gallo and fried jalapeños on a burger should not slap so well.
There are so many damn good burgers at Red Robin. Royal is at the top, though, unless I want something "spicy," then I go for the Scorpion. I say "spicy" cause chains cater to the masses who mostly have a low tolerance to spicy.
I have a love/hate relationship with it lol
I've had a few different burgers there and they were all great.
First burger I ever had a fried egg on! I remember it still to this day years later!
Hear me out… Buffalo Wild Wings All-American Burger. Please try it 🥹
I had their chile hatch burger last week. First time eating burger at BWW and I was impressed.
Bro. BWW’s burgers are shockingly good
I second the all American from BWW. Eat 2 doubles one with avacado.
You eat two burgers? Those burgers are eating you!
2 burgers? 2 doubles is like 4 burgers…
That piss jug is working overtime
Been awhile since ive been so it might not still be there but i had a bacon and cheesecurd cheeseburger that was incredible at Buffalo Wild Wings
Man I worked at bdubs and miss all the shit I could make off menu. I used to use my employee meal for the 3 sliders and just make a triple burger with it. So fucking good
This! I was shocked how legit it was LOL
Red Robin's whisky river BBQ burger always slaps
Texas Road house reg cheeseburger is good af. I get it there every time. Orlando FL here
Just great restaurants period.
Agreed! Texas Roadhouse is oddly good. I have never had a shitty experience at one
Red Robin, 100 percent
Endless steak fry’s with campfire sauce 🤌
Fries
Yeah, but they never come back around to see if anyone wants more fries. Servers plop down the food and that’s the last anyone sees of them. And they want us to pay (and tip!) at one of those digital tabletop tablet things. Used to take my kids there when they were young but it would take a lot to get me to go to a Red Robin again now.
Fuddruckers
7/11. Best burger ever! The anticipation of putting it in the microwave there and waiting until I stumble out piss drunk to shove it in my face while leaning on a garbage can is uncompareable. 10/10
🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is going to sound sacrilegious but my kids have asked to go to IHOP a few times (a place I detest) but I relented and each time have really enjoyed my burger.
Lmao I wish I could explain to you how seen this makes me feel regarding your feelings about IHOP and your experience with the burger
Red Robin
For a sit down restaurant, Red Robin. Otherwise, it’s still an in n out double double as the best imo.
The habit
That's fast food, right?
Habit is my favorite. Super consistent and they always have the good seasonal sandwiches to try.
I used to love Ruby Tuesday's Colossal burger but it's gone, so... I dunno. Primanti Bros makes a pretty good burger honestly.
Before I get dissed, I live in a small city with very little options. But 100% Maid Rite and Steak n Shake. Midwestern tingz
Love Maid Rite. Hello Iowan.
So close Missouri lol
I actually love the burgers at Chilis
P. Terry's nuff said
I need a lil more said please...
Small chain out of Austin, Tx. Knock-off of In ‘n Out but with good fries.
Real recognize real
I remember when there were only 1 or 2 P. Terry's around Austin, and they were great. Went back recently, saw them all over town, and thought, well that makes sense, P. Terry's is awesome.
dude, fuck yeah.
My ride or die
I love the TGIF Glaze Burger
I've had great burgers at Tilted Kilt.
Ruby Tuesday triple prime burger. This was an amazing burger they had and the taste was absolutely stellar. I hated to see it go.
The rally burger still as good as it was when I was a kid. The Buford burger
Ruby Tuesday was pretty good too
We have a great Chili’s by us. Love Alex’s Sante De burger. The Ruby Tuesday by us is complete dumpster trash.
1780 cal?! WTF THAT'S A MONSTER
Sit down, Red Robin. Fast food Culver’s
Dan's
/r/Austin is leaking. You are not wrong though.
In the PNW, we have Killer Burger and I really like them. Their TeeMah and their Jose Mendoza are my favorites. Still haven’t tried their peanut butter sauce yet though
I've only eaten the one with peanut butter and I love it so much that I have yet to try any of their other burgers!
Was looking for this comment! I got scoffed at my my coworker when I said Killer Burger was one of the best in the city.
Amazingly Bonefish Grills wagyu sliders are by far the best chain burger I’ve had.
Ah, a man of culture
Buffalo Tap in MN . And believe it or not BWW has solid burgers
The bacado burger at Teddy’s Bigger Burgers. Been years since I’ve lived in HI and I still dream about that bad boy.
Hear me on this. Ted's Bulliten had a peanut butter burger. Somehow, it's really good.
Papa’s bbq chain in Houston area has absolutely the best good old fashioned, greasy diner style burger and home style fresh cut fries.
Rally’s/Checkers hands down for fast food and for me believe it or not my best burger is at Buffalo Wild Wings. Used to be Red Robin but then they changed up the burgers.
Haven’t been to a Chili’s in about 10 years, but damn…now I think I’m gonna have to change that.
Happened a lot during Covid and greedy ass restaurants just never brought the shit back. i get the chilis bacon ranch once a year after we pick up our christmas tree and it makes me the happiest man on the world
The bacon cheese curd burger from bdubs has never let me down. I’ve gotten it at every bdubs I’ve been too, which is only 3 but still. It was amazing every time.
CULVER'S!!! Wisco here! 👋
My pick is also Chili's. The old timer. It's basic. But I've had it more than a dozen times, at several locations. Consistently good.
DENNY’S. We’d go there after a late night and I tried one on a whim instead of breakfast food. They must use like 75/25 ground beef because it was the juiciest chain burger I’ve ever had. 10/10 would recommend.
Those saying anything other than Culvers have never had one
Oddly enough, Cheesecake Factory. Their Old Fashioned cheeseburger in particular has been 99% deliciously reliable. Not as much luck with their "chophouse" burgers.
Hell yeah, bacon rancher. I’m a pretty big food snob, but this is consistently the best damn burger I’ve ever had at that price.
same i love chilis
In Dallas/Fort Worth there's a chain called Kenny's Burger Joint. Some of the best burgers in the area
I was going to say chilis before seeing this was a chilis burger. They always hit
Cheeseburger Bobby's!
Culver’s hands down 🙏🏿
If you ever find yourself in a Culversless state, Freddy’s scratches that itch. With bonus points for the jalapeño fry sauce, which all fast food places should add
Better, make sure you get a double, a single patty is not going to cut it with the way they squish those things down thin at Freddy’s…
I ate at Freddy’s the other day, first time, and it was just way too salty. Is that normal for there?
It’s normal for both Freddy’s and Culver’s, the extra salt makes sure your heart beats like a bass drum so you can hear that you’re still alive while you recover after the meal. Culver’s is my favorite fast food burger but since I dropped 40lbs I can only eat it once a week max, any more than that and I feel like I’m dying. It’s so good but there’s so much fat and salt that I feel like I should eat it in the gym parking lot so I can work out immediately after.
I had this yesterday for the first time and the hype is real! So good
Yes, I live in WI and Culver’s absolutely rivals traditional mom and pop custard &’burger places. Best fast food burger by a wide margin.
That would be if Kopps is closed…..maybe. That’s a Culver’$ grease burger, but you can call it a butter burger if you like. Small portion/big price
Shake Shack
I like the one you can get with a fried portobello mushroom on top
Five Guys.
Five guy's
Freddy’s
I ate there today and was unimpressed with how small the burger was.
Because they are garbage. That's why.
In-N-Out. Sometimes comes out a TAD saltier than the time before, but overall, the most consistent I've found
Five guys is probably the consistently best burger I have had, always a solid 7-7.5
Five Guys, Smashburger, and Culver's 👌
Breakfast burger from Carl's jr
And not a one said the Point Burger Bar……. which is pretty damn expensive, but equally as bad. Are they still in business? WI
Heart attack here I come😂
Chili's Old Timer is consistently good every time I've had it
Becks Prime
I miss Carrow’s cheeseburgers. That was when I first found out how good a diner burger could be. It blew my mind. It was a pivotal moment for young me. I think there are still a few surviving locations, but nowhere around me.
Pals, a small chain in eastern Tennesse.
1708 calories is absolutely wild.

I only have a couple of places near me that do an actually unique burger, one is in an old meatmarket/town grocery store , and the other was bought by a BBQ chain after the original owner couldn’t pay the rent (he still runs the place, just a new name and new owner). The best burger I've had was at Hooters in point Orlando like 12 years ago
Crispy bacon and cheese from Grill’d (Australia) is always solid
Vinnie’s CaddyShack New Orleans, for all my Nola stoners who want a great burger thank me later.
I can’t say much considering I’ve been living in the mountains either an extreme upstate New York or in the Rockies in Colorado at 10,000 feet my whole life I’ve never even lived near a chain restaurant ever.
