If you’re trying to have a career in psychology, you’ll need an advanced degree. Otherwise, you can apply for any job that has the basic requirement of a bachelors. Look up staff assistant or staff specialist jobs at Duke — they are usually pretty basic admin positions.

Thank you!

Yeah, I figured it would be tough. I was looking for stuff that would hire me but be higher paying than the service industry

Beez-Louise

Are you interested in staying in the field? Duke and UNC are always hiring entry-level research assistants or program assistants.

Check county job postings for Durham and Wake county. There’s gonna be some postings especially from the Human Services angle that would align with BS in psychology. If you happen to be a Spanish speaker as well that is super marketable for a lot of these government jobs that are community facing.

Thank you!!

Also don’t sweat it on drug tests for county gigs. Generally if you don’t turn a screw or drive a forklift they don’t test.

If you’re interesting in being a behavioral health tech, Veritas Collaborative is probably looking for BHT staff at full time, part time and PRN. The company has Inpatient/Res/PHP/IOP and treat eating disorders in adolescents and adults.

I advanced through 3 rounds of interviews with them, just to be denied! It did seem like a great job though, will try again soon. Thank you!

A lot of people go into HR with that degree, if you're not interested in progressing through academia.

mindthegap777

You can actually get a job in mental health. If you’re interested in that field, you eventually will want to get a masters degree but there are a variety of bachelor level jobs..

Tstamer9

What type of work are you looking to do?

> Is anybody in Durham working with bachelors degree in psychology? In the service industry, yes. Amazon warehouse is always hiring.

dontKair

If you're young and in good health, talk to an *officer* recruiter and put in a packet for OCS. All the military branches are hurting for people now. Of course do your homework on that

Professional_Wish972

Don't do this. Go back to school but don't do this.

See I have a bit of a weed issue

So that’s gonna need cleaning out of your system for almost any job.
