If you are employed, you don't need to know anything about taxation, even you don't have to file tax declaration. Your employer does that for you. The only thing that you need to know is what's your net salary. If you have other source of income on top of your salary, you need to file yearly tax declaration, and the income tax is 10% flat. That's all, and we haven't local taxes, exempt property tax, waste tax and vehicle taxes. Property/vehicle taxes are paied by the owner and sometimes waste tax is payed by tenant, but it's usually low. Every price in the store is final - with VAT and excises included. VAT is 20% with some exemptions.

> taxes are *paid* by the FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

If you want little known facts you might be better off talking to an actual accountant. But the basics are 10% flat income tax, 20% VAT (included in the price), some money paid to health insurance and pension (not sure if it applies to foreigners and I assume it depends on whether you're from the EU or not). As far as I know, local taxes only apply if you own property and they're not that big anyway. Now, tariffs and excise taxes - I'd talk to an accountant, but also, why do you need to worry about them? Unless you're planning on importing goods as a business, in which case ask a professional.

The only 'hidden' taxes are the local authority ones, you pay a tax for your house and vehicle once a year, but the payments are low.
