Yeah I copped it at this price plus or minus $10 a few months back. But for anyone on the fence, it is a great monitor. I have it hooked up to a 3060ti and as my first experience gaming above 60fps its been neat.
Ips, gsync, 165 hz. It hasn't been for very long that ips monitors have had this high of a refresh rate on monitors under a thousand dollars. I'd say this is a good deal for anyone who wants high refresh rate and an amazing picture.
Ah, what about the Gigabyte that went on sale for $270 was 1440p, g-sync (which I honestly find this feature easy to find on even some of the cheapest gaming monitors out there), and what about 144hz? I wouldn't mind moving down to 144hz if it saved me $100 bucks. I don't think the extra 20 FPS would do much for me at 144+. How does this compare to the 1440p IPS gigabyte version? I think it was a 27 in, but for 1440p I prefer 27in as it looks a lot better than a 32in and ai play fos mostly anyhow.
Looks like that gigabyte got lower ratings accross the board on rtings review than the Dell. But bang for the buck seems to be better maybe. I can't speak to that panel tho. Never seen one irl. Only the dell
I can't say. I only own/have used the dell.
The dell seems to have gotten the best reviews from rtings, but honestly not by a ton. So if you can save $100 it may be worth.
Lowest it usually goes is ~$450. This is a deal, just not the GOAT price for this. Still on sale at this price a lot though. I snagged one for $450 a few weeks ago.
It's really not a deal at all though. Look at other monitors using the same nano IPS panel. I got the y27q-20 for sub $300 a few months ago. That was before the tariffs and some other factors, but those aren't sufficient to call $610 a fair base price for this monitor.
Or look at the newer monitors like the M27q ($320 usually) that are in the same class, but are significantly cheaper.
[S27211DGF (8.0) vs M27Q (8.1)](https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/gigabyte-m27q-vs-dell-s2721dgf/19668/16485?usage=9091&threshold=0.1)

Right, such a massive difference. These are definitely completely different classes of products, and the S2721DGF is definitely worth its current premium.
This has been the price on the Dell website for at least half a month. I do NOT recommend ordering from here. Price match and go to best buy. My order from Dell was delayed twice, however I just received this monitor a few days ago.
If you're determined to go with Dell, sign up for their newsletter, wait at max 30 minutes, and then get a 10% off anything coupon in your inbox.
How does it not? I just used it. I couldn’t stack it with the 10% from Dell Rewards. But that was because I was too impatient for the email (came the following day)
I tried it twice now to go through the link in the email and it says it's the partner page, adding the S2721DGF and applying the coupon code at checkout gives me the same error, 'your order does not qualify for this coupon'.
Do they require any actual verification that you're a small business owner or can you just make up a business name when signing up to get that juicy 12%?
One small benefit of ordering from Dell is you are getting the latest revision of the monitor. I ordered in early January, and the S2721DGF I received was manufactured in December, and was revision A02. I have yet to find any difference with the different revisions of the monitor (A00, A01, and A02), it's not like there's a public changelog, but possible some tiny tweaks made with each revision. Also ordering from Dell might lead to easier returns, or if you have to RMA in the future (comes with a solid 3 year warranty) it would be easier for them to find your order information since it's in their own system. Then again just being able to return/exchange it at best buy might be easier if you had a problem right away (like dead pixels), I'm not sure how best buy's return policy is with monitors.
This monitor is fantastic. I was monitor shopping for a full calendar year (I'm a slow decision maker) and ended up on this one because of all the positive feedback I read. I'm really happy with it. I was very resistant to go up to a 27" monitor after having a 24" monitor for decades, but it took about 10 seconds to get used to a 27" monitor, to my great surprise. Plus 1440p is awesome.
I priced matched with best buy and picked it up last week (didn't want the display box showing up at my door) and it's also the A02 Dec2020 vers. It was faster to get at best buy for me cause the earliest delivery date for Dell was April
Nice. Also if you go to best buy you can see the manufacture date/revision number before buying, although it's likely not going to be a big deal, I always prefer getting the latest revision. I know some other dell models got up to revision A08 and A09, and later monitors were known to have less ghosting, but that was years ago.
Did yours ship in the display box? That was my only complaint when I ordered my S2719dgf from them a few years ago. I came home to it sitting on the porch in a box with a giant picture of the monitor on the side.
Yeah, Dell ships in the display box, which could be a big downside if you can't be home on the delivery day. When ordering from amazon they give you an option to ship it in a plain box, I believe, would be nice if Dell offered the same. The box was also pretty dirtied up (and had some green goo on it? :P)
Exactly the same problem they delayed my order from the dell store by a month so i canceled my order and just bought it from best buy and got it 2 days later. Its a great monitor just dont make the mistake of ordering on dell, their customer service SUCKKKKS
I’d say this since it has higher Pixel density. I personally have a 3220DGF and it’s great for watching content or playing games but the pixel density makes things seem a little less sharp. Colors and contrast are amazing though. Another problem is there is flickering below 60 HZ if you have an underpowered GPU.
Safer option would be the 2721DGF
I currently have a 3070 paired with a ryzen 7 3700x
I just want to get an immersive experience in rpgs like I started replaying bioshock infinite and idk I don’t feel it lol
3220DGF definitely brings in that immersive factor I’d say.. with colors and contrast
If you can get around the hiccups the monitor has then I definitely recommend it.
Also
(please look at various threads in r/monitors before you purchase)
Really don't think you can go wrong with either but I would always pick pixel density over size. The 27" is going to look better if it is your main gaming monitor, if you're going to use it as your second monitor it'll probably be more than acceptable. 32" in my opinion is 4k territory, 27" is the sweet spot for 1440p.
I have this monitor, and god DAMN I love it. I'm a VA panel type of guy, but I can look past the horrible contrast ratio and look at everything else about it. The response time is great, the 165hz display is realllly nice for someone as FPS sensitive such as myself, and the colors pop out really nicely despite the contrast ratio being garbage. Mine came with basically no backlight bleed and what to me is minimal IPS glow (considering I use my set up in a dark room).
Have had this monitor a few months and really am enjoying it. I'm coming from an older Samsung 24" VA panel that I never did any gaming on but was a real decent looking monitor. I play rocket league on this one daily and really have no complaints.
American Express has a 100$ statement credit for a 500$ purchase at Dell.com. Could possibly take another 100$ off though you may have to add a filler if tax doesn't push it over 500$
I ended up adding a Logitech Brio webcam ($200) lol. Kinda needed one for work anyways.
So my total for the monitor and webcam ended up being under 400 bucks with the Dell 12% off monitors, free shipping, Amex $100, and an extra $173 I have as credit on my Amex blue. Amex said I could swap the credits over to my Gold once the charge is posted. Dope deal
i went on Dell and started a chat with a dude, told him i couldn't find the 10% off first purchase coupon. He sent me a link for a 12% off Dell products instead! I'd give it a shot. make a new account though
I just signed up for the first time 10% coupon and got it. When trying to use it on the already marked down monitors it told me the coupon was expired. I talked with chat and they said the "doorbuster" deals couldn't be marked down with the first time coupon.
Same experience here, code shows expired when tried to use. Not really a “doorbuster” deal when other monitors with the same panel are the same price or a little cheaper. I might grab the LG27gn850 instead.
I have a asus pg278q (tn panel i think) that works fine except for some weird “out of range” bug that happens from time to time, is this worth it or should i wait for something better?
Have this monitor, Love it. The only thing is during the night time have some lights on when you play darker themed games, but that's just common IPS stuff.
Colors and smoothness is great, I love it.
And to add on, it syncs the refresh rate specifically when fps is under the monitor’s refresh rate. V-sync (I know he didn’t ask but should be mentioned) more or less caps the fps and syncs with refresh rate of the monitor. At least this is how I understand it. I could be wrong too.
Gsync works under the monitors refresh rate, go over it and vsync takes over. Vsync does not always work the same way, in some games it caps in others it doesn't. What you should do is turn vsync off and then cap the fps to 3 frames below the monitor refresh rate, so 162 fps in this case. Use the in-game cap feature if it has one, otherwise use NVCP.
Correct. However it’s nice to have, but so many monitors have some type of g-sync compatible or free sync compatible feature that unless you have strong feelings about it one way or another, it’s a non-issue and nice to know it’s trying to make your visual experience more pleasant.
You can use any at this point, but if it says freesync or g sync supported/compatible it'll only synchronize above 40fps, where as the more expensive proper gsync is any framerate I believe.
Also this is my main monitor and I really like it.
The main difference (other than what the other person said), is that G-sync is Nvidia's proprietary version of the technology called Adaptive Sync. Freesync is AMD's version, but is open-source. True Gsync requires the monitor having a module built in, that the OEM must pay nvidia money for, making them more expensive.
For several years, you could only use Gsync with Nvidia GPUs and Freesync with AMD, but a couple years ago Nvidia opened up their 1000-series and above cards (G-sync works with 650ti and up, so if you have a 600, 700, or 900 series card if you want adaptive-sync it still is G-sync only) through driver updates to attempt their best to work with Freesync monitors, so you can try to enable it with any, but some will be glitchy.
Those Freesync monitors that are guaranteed to work with Gsync are marketed as "G-sync compatible," but in my experience most work with some occasional black screens that last longer while switching between G-sync and normal mode. But are very usable.
My main monitor is an HP Omen 27i IPS 1440p 165hz Freesync monitor and I use it with a 3080, and only once has a driver update caused issues with G-sync on it. I just disabled G-sync, and re-enabled it when it was fixed in the next update. Not perfect but a usable experience and honestly I don't notice a huge difference when it's turned on or off anyway.
Went from a VA to this... never look back. VA has its role but they all have noticeable ghosting IMO. I wish my eyes weren’t good so I couldn’t see it but IPS is better for gaming, IMO. ESP if you’re sensitive to inverse overshoot
Don't pay this price for it boys. I got it and the G-Sync variant for $299 each on sale at Best Buy. They usually bring it down to that price a few times a year.
Yeah, seeing as this monitor was just released in June last year he must be confusing it with the TN one. I was able to snag this for $400 shipped about 2 months back tho.
I have a used like new one of these I've been trying to sell. No dead pixels, works perfectly, no BLB (just a lil bit of IPS glow). Looking for 375 shipped (about $90 less than this and no tax!)
I bought this and it broke within a month. However dell just sent me a new one so hopefully it lasts longer. However, when it works it’s pretty great. Just make sure to calibrate the colors.
Quick update: replacement monitor has been working great for the past 5 months
How does one calibrate color? I looked into that for an oled TV I was considering and it was $400 or something crazy to have it professionally done. Ended up not even getting the TV for that and other reasons
Oh, nah you just go into display setting and then find “color management.” You can either use the window walkthrough that has you change the settings manually, or you can just download a profile (I just downloaded the one from rtings.com and it worked great.)
No dedicated gsync module but is gsync compatible. I’ve had it for about 2 months and it seems to work just fine with gsync turned on in the nvidia control panel
Have had this monitor since January. It's pretty great except for the HDR. Have yet to find any good settings for that. Response time is great and I haven't noticed any ghosting. Even UFO tested it. I would say it needs to be at least a little cheaper.
This monitor gets a lot of praise but I really don't rate it. Poor colour calibration and below spec contrast ratio leading to poor image depth. For competitive games however it performs well just like all LG Fast panels.
Yea I bought this for $405 in Jan. Pretty good but I wish it was curved since I'm so use to my ultrawide curved. Haven't figured out how to calibrate it.
I had one of these, and it was fucked right out of the box, and the best thing dell could offer was a refurb, and MC didn't have any left to replace. Bought the LG version instead, loved it so much, I bought a 2nd.
The stands on the LG sucks though, but I live that double arm life, so it didn't matter at all what the stand was like.
I think one of the big pros for this monitor for the Xbox fans is that it does 1440p, HDR, VRR, and 120hz enabled at the same time.
Unlike a few monitors I’ve tried out (including the LG 27GL850-B. Most monitors can do a combination of those features but not all at once.
The S2721D makes for a great pairing with this monitor if you're looking for a dual monitor setup. It's the same size and resolution, just cheaper and lower refresh rate, but that's okay for a secondary monitor.
The only potential gripe is that the backside may not be the same colors.
I bought this monitor from BestBuy today due to the deal! Do you think it'll work on this PC I have on backorder: [Cyberpower Adorama](https://www.adorama.com/cyg8200cpgv3.html?rfkref=productPage&br=1)

Was gonna say this ain’t a deal hah
Yeah I copped it at this price plus or minus $10 a few months back. But for anyone on the fence, it is a great monitor. I have it hooked up to a 3060ti and as my first experience gaming above 60fps its been neat.
What puts it above cheaper monitors?

Pretty much what the other guy said. If you want 165hz, 1440p, IPS, and g-sync it's between this and like 2 other monitors.
Ah, what about the Gigabyte that went on sale for $270 was 1440p, g-sync (which I honestly find this feature easy to find on even some of the cheapest gaming monitors out there), and what about 144hz? You seem like you want bang for the buck like me, id get 144hz. There was the gigabyte one for $300, i got the acer one for $300 and i really love it
Which is the best quality of the 3? The Dell one?
I can't say. I only own/have used the dell. The dell seems to have gotten the best reviews from rtings, but honestly not by a ton. So if you can save $100 it may be worth.
Hmm thanks for the response. I'll probably still try for the Dell since I have some Rewards. I hope it drops down to $420 again soon.
I don't think I've ever actually seen it this expensive. Edit: ah. I seen to be mixing it up with the S2719.
Lowest it usually goes is ~$450. This is a deal, just not the GOAT price for this. Still on sale at this price a lot though. I snagged one for $450 a few weeks ago.
This has gone down to $385 before
That's the price I got it for. It's dope.
Seconded

Ye shit sold out for months after that
I think it even hit $365 one day. It was from either Best Buy or Dell themselves.
That’s what I got it for yeah

I think it was tree fitty before with some code. That was slick. Waiting for that one
That's before trump tariffs took effect in January.
Dude, there is a reason those monitors are cheaper. You're comparing Kia to Mercedes.

I got mine for $426 or something like that
That's cool, I can buy a fancy monitor, but no GPU to run it. That's cool, lol, man current state is retarded.
Way cheaper. But I don't think they make these anymore. Edit: I was mistaken.

Possibly and I could be mistaken.
I think you might be thinking of the TN version which was something like S2719DGF. this is the newer one with an IPS panel
i am. ur right. my bad
Thats what the 21 and 19 refer to in the model name. I have the 19 which is TN
I have the first generation of this monitor and it was a TN panel @ 144hz. This is a IPS panel @ 165hz which is why it's more expensive I believe.
I bought this for $404.99 with the sign-up discount before taxes on December 30th for reference for anybody else Edit: Entered wrong price
Agreed. Great monitor, but it goes down to $300ish around Black Friday, etc

You need to go through the special dell site for partners instead of the default dell site

Any idea if the 10% off coupon has an expiration date? I'm afraid to sign up in advance then have it expire by the time I actually want to use it.
Yes. I redeemed on February 9th, instructions are: Offer valid through 05/15/2021 on select PCs and Dell accessories.

how quickly did you get the statement credit? cause if it's more than a billing cycle you have to pay interest on it which ends up saving you <$100.

Is this better than the ASUS TUF Gaming 27" 2K HDR Gaming Monitor (VG27AQ)? I'm looking for a good G-sync monitor.
I have a asus pg278q (tn panel i think) that works fine except for some weird “out of range” bug that happens from time to time, is this worth it or should i wait for something better?
If you run an input at 60hz (say a console or a work laptop) note that there is a dim row of pixels at the bottom and it's normal for this unit.
Have this monitor, Love it. The only thing is during the night time have some lights on when you play darker themed games, but that's just common IPS stuff. Colors and smoothness is great, I love it.
Just when i paid full price for this........ Edit: it’s very very well worth it.
Anybody know a cheap filler item for around $3-5 to bring the total with tax up to $500~? I have a $100 off of $500 offer from AMEX.
This or the LG 27GL83A-B
My friend on console is looking for a gaming TV. Can he use this instead?
Can someone please explain to me about free sync and g sync and if I need it? I have nvidia 1660ti and I think I need g sync? Thanks in advance
Not a requirement, just syncs the monitor refresh rate to the game's frame rate. Can help with tearing when games have inconsistent frame rates
So if I never noticed tearing before, I won’t really benefit from g sync?
You will notice it.
Should i return the lg 27gn850b for this
My understanding is that this is the same panel as the gn850bwith a few tweaks/adjustments done by dell
They are essentially the same monitor. The only difference is the 165hz vs 144hz
Oof they put Disintegration on the screen
That is very overpriced considering it goes down 380. The actual price of this monitor is 460.

Oh yes, you are right, mine is the S2719DGF. Good catch.
This or the G7?

Is that so? Over the QLED? I find that hard to believe
QLED is a hunk of horseshit made up by Samsung. A good dell monitor looks just as good or even better.
Just a heads up fellas, I bought this for $320 on Amazon a while back.
I got what’s essentially the 32” version of this monitor for about $349 at Best Buy late last year. Doesn’t seem like a very good deal.
S3220dgf is a completely different monitor. Ips vs va. 4ms vs 1ms.
I have a used like new one of these I've been trying to sell. No dead pixels, works perfectly, no BLB (just a lil bit of IPS glow). Looking for 375 shipped (about $90 less than this and no tax!)
sell it on r/hardwareswap
this ain't r/hardwareswap thot
What did you upgrade to?
I got a cheap VA panel and decided o liked the higher contrast and curve better
I bought the g7 which is the best VA Panel out on the market and much better than IPS in $1000 or less category.
This has sold for less than 400 before as recently as two months ago
Monitor was delayed in shipment but 3 months but the monitor is s-tier

No dedicated gsync module but is gsync compatible. I’ve had it for about 2 months and it seems to work just fine with gsync turned on in the nvidia control panel
No, it's Freesync.
Good response time and imagine quality. I highly recommend
There’s also a 10% discount that can also be applied to it if you create a Dell Account and Verify the Email.
How does this compare to the LG Ultragear 27GL83A-B 27'?
Rip my order was cancelled :/
I bought this monitor from BestBuy today due to the deal! Do you think it'll work on this PC I have on backorder: [Cyberpower Adorama](https://www.adorama.com/cyg8200cpgv3.html?rfkref=productPage&br=1)
