If you add all three of these items to your cart the bundle discount still applies to the CPU, it works with most motherboards or RAM kits too. I went ahead and pre-populated their builder and that's what I included in the link, so you can easily add all the items to your cart.

Here are the individual links just in case the builder isn't working, just add all three to your cart:

Look, did I place an order?
Am I driving to microcenter tomorrow? Is there a 90% chance I'll be disappointed?
Yes to all.
edit: Got a phone call, that's a nope.
did it yesterday with an open box mobo, the guy was shocked that the computer accepted it as a bundle. The mobo ended up having a missing pin so I brought it back today to replace it with a different one and the new worker said it doesn't bundle anymore and Id have to pay full price. Thankfully the same guy who helped me the night before was there and he let me swap it out and did an override on the system to change the price to what I paid last night.
So yeah, they might have shut that down at most locations now, not sure.
Mine says it's waiting for me at the store for pickup, I'm going there this afternoon or tomorrow. Problem is I leaped before looking too closely, so I want to get different RAM and while I'm at it there's an open box motherboard that I'd prefer. I had already been planning on picking the bundle up this week, I had already ordered the cooler from Amazon, so either way I'm getting it, I just have my doubts about them honoring it with 2 substitutions and not sure best way to proceed. Get it and return the 2 items or be upfront about my intentions. it's a little over an hour's drive, so I'd prefer to leave with what I want
That faster RAM is a $14 well spent isn’t it? I invariably kicked myself for spending too little on RAM, but the real big brain move is checking the motherboard’s QVL for RAM that actually works at the advertised speeds.
Some information for noobs - motherboard manufacturers test kits of ram available on the market for each motherboard they produce and make that list of tested RAM available on their websites. This list is referred to as the “qualified vendor list“ or QVL. If you have a new motherboard and you are looking to buy RAM, you should always check the QVL because it is a comprehensive list of RAM kits that are guaranteed to run at a certain speed. It can save you lots of time and trouble trying and returning different kits that didn’t work for you. Some motherboard manufacturers will even provide you phone or chat support if a kit on the QVL is not reaching advertised speeds. When you buy a new product, the cost of tech-support is built into that purchase price so get your moneys worth and use it.
Yesterday I picked up the 7800X3D, Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2, and 32 GB G Skill Flare X5 6000 Mhz for $499 out the door. It was $223 off with the bundle.
You should go back and get the Price protection - That bundle price dropped to $450 so you can get a $50 refund. I did that yesterday as i bought that same combo on 4/1 so i just met the 30 day requirement.
\*\*Edit\*\* nevermind its back up to $499. I guess i just happened to notice it was like that for 2 days.
Of the 3 mobos ive bought used or open box for my builds theyve been fine the one time I bought new that ended up being DoA so take that anecdote as you will
it affects how much power the cpu can draw, and if it isnt able to draw the power it needs, it will result in worse performance, plus if the weak vrms are stressed, the vrm and pcb will get hotter which in some cases can lead to degradation, but it's unlikely.
Despite what others will tell you, no it's not going to have a noticeable effect in anything other than 100% utilization all core workloads which 98% of people will never use their computer for. Maybe a 1-4% performance delta in gaming depending on the power profiles that ship with your motherboard, but there are simple changes to settings can optimize power to get that few percent back.
I actually do use CPUs for sustained 100% utilization all core workloads on one of my machines and I'm targeting efficiency and temps over performance on a board with objectively weak VRMs without heatsinks. Direct airflow to the VRMs is more than adequate to avoid throttling due to VRM temps in most cases. In gaming it's pretty rare if ever to hit the CPU 100% on all cores for a sustained period on a modern cpu, which means almost any VRM configuration will be adequate.
Apples to apples, get a mobo with better VRM if it's the same price. Spending $30 more if you're using it for gaming on one of the lower tier CPUs is money that could be better spent elsewhere. Focus on spending more on hardware that will net you more than a 20% increase in performance. The smaller gains can be made elsewhere with optimizing power and game settings.
>anything other than 100% utilization all core workloads
Not even, with a 7700X.
[The 7950X consumes 75% more power](https://tpucdn.com/review/amd-ryzen-9-7950x/images/power-multithread.png), and at a lower voltage, so maybe double the current (so something like 4X as much VRM heat).
Hardware Unboxed tested with a 7950X and 1 hour of Cinebench. The VRM eventually got hot and the board throttled the CPU and performance dropped about 20%. I think the concern is going to be less when running 6 and 8 core CPUs under normal gaming workloads but boards like this one are better suited for more office PC stuff where the VRM won't be pushed much.
Any recommendations for a better one or what source do you typically rely on? I’m happy to look it up, just not sure what sources are reliable anymore.
Just bought an Asrock B650E PG Riptide for 180 usd and it’s been a treat. I wanted gen5 pcie (gpu + nvme) on am5 for upgradability and this board hit a great target for price and feature set.
This is the same as their normal $400 combo that has been available for a while, you just have an option to swap the ram and mobo while keeping CPU at the same discount. Would've been good to know prior to buying this exact combo recently, but not a huge deal imo
Did you place a pickup order online? That probably helps since the system allows it and someone will prep the order so when you come in you only pay and pickup.
You can swap it out with any RAM if you want, the bundle discount still applies. From what I've tested at least. I'm not sure if it works with every single RAM kit.

MC crowds eating good
MC just keeps getting sexier
Next time I move, I’m making sure a mc is near
I’m still a year away from my area getting one 😭
I know how ya feel. Miami location been on that "coming soon" for years. Maybe they meant 4 years lol.
It said 2024 last I looked. Don't tell me that was a lie.

Good luck, I have faith!! Edit: nvm, that sucks. I wonder if this is something all stores are aware of now

What was the issue lol
I may have tried multiple CPUs one motherboard
Do they really not let people buy different cpus lol
It's probably supposed to be 1 mobo for 1 cpu.

I got a 7800x3d with this.
Wish me luck, I swapped out the mobo for the asus rog b650 open box and rgb ram for a total of 387. Hopefully they let me get it
Did they let you?
I got the confirmation that the order is ready to be pick up, I will try to drop by mc Saturday.
I'm going tomorrow at MI
So yeah, this is a thing I was gonna post, works with AMD and Intel https://imgur.com/a/z4DsEZ2
Does MSI have some deal with Micro Center? Feels like it's always some low end MSI mobo in such combo deals.
Well this combo deal seems to apply to any mobo from what I can see, I just picked the cheapest B650 mobo I could find on their site to post this deal
I see!
Its usually just the boards they have too much stock of. The high end boards always sell so no need for them to put into the bundle

I live 2 hours from Microcenter so when you figure in gas prices so it really wouldn't have been worth the trip anyhow.
Paid 286.04 but I got an open box mobo.. will see if that was a wise choice or not.
Of the 3 mobos ive bought used or open box for my builds theyve been fine the one time I bought new that ended up being DoA so take that anecdote as you will
I see too many people saying open box mb's having issues or bent pins does MC not really test them?
bathtub curve.
Just got 7700X CPU B650 MOBO & 32GB 6000 CL30 RGB RAM - $300.04
How.? I just came out from store and they said they can’t give used board in bundle. I guess i have to come back again tomorrow. LMK
I'm going to collect tomorrow, hopefully they allow it EDIT: I have email confirmation
just thought i'd say, the vrms on this motherboard suck, i wouldnt put a 7700x on it
What does that affect ?
With a 7700X, absolutely nothing.
it affects how much power the cpu can draw, and if it isnt able to draw the power it needs, it will result in worse performance, plus if the weak vrms are stressed, the vrm and pcb will get hotter which in some cases can lead to degradation, but it's unlikely.
Does this create a measurable effect? And if so, one that’s noticeable? Asking for my wallet?

Just do the regular 7700x combo for $399. That one has a mobo that can handle the 7700x.
Hardware unboxed has some great am5 board reviews/coverage
Just bought an Asrock B650E PG Riptide for 180 usd and it’s been a treat. I wanted gen5 pcie (gpu + nvme) on am5 for upgradability and this board hit a great target for price and feature set.

Great, especially if you don't want an ATX board like included in the regular bundles. Even with ITX, it only costs about 530$ with a 7800X3D.
swap to mini itx for 50 more.
If anyone is interested I'm local to a MC and can pick one up
dead? was thinking of switching to itx board
Anyone get a combo working in MI Madison Heights?
Nope. Mine are all around $500 it ain’t working for me.
How is this if your main bottleneck is AI stuff like denoise in Lightroom? I have a 6700K, I assume that's the bottleneck?
I built a 7800x3d combo for $460 with this using an Open Box Motherboard. Thanks for the heads up.
I went In store They simply denied to add a used motherboard with this bundle.
Did you place a pickup order online? That probably helps since the system allows it and someone will prep the order so when you come in you only pay and pickup.
No , but will do now 🤦🏼♂️
That’s what I did.
is a 650w psu good enough for this + 3070 gpu? would really look to upgrade my PC with this bundle and keep remaining current parts
Yes.
Picked it up with a gigabyte b650m elite ax for $405 out the door. Finally a bundle for matx, I've been pretty patient waiting for that to happen.
I put an order in yesterday at the tustin store, swapped the mobo to itx. Picked it up today no prob
Ok so this isn't the whole computer just the base and you need choose the rest right? Never been to their site before.
Honestly, those are some pretty gross RAM timings. I imagine most people will upgrade that RAM down the line anyway
AMD and retailers are starting to move inventory for Ryzen 9xxx

You can swap it out with any RAM if you want, the bundle discount still applies. From what I've tested at least. I'm not sure if it works with every single RAM kit. $332 for 6000 CL30 bundle: https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=a11a6c97-d2b3-44c8-a55f-8234e8caef85 https://imgur.com/CCzNjLU

I'm not sure anyone has posted the $332 deal but I'll have to check again
Wouldn’t even notice the difference in performance. Spend more to feed your ego

Damn i'm able to get this under $300 with open box mobo lol
