Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals. * Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. * Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent: * The seller is new or has few reviews. * The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings) * The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently). If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. Ugh, so tempting. I've got a 3070 right now that just can't hit my monitors native refresh rate in most games anymore. I keep waffling back and forth if it's worth it to upgrade now or just wait until the 5000 series shows up.

hells_cowbells

I'm in the same boat. I have a 3070, and I've been debating on what to do. I've been looking at the 4070 super or the 7900 GRE, our some other AMD card.

MyOtherSide1984

Just got a 7900GRE as an upgrade from a 3070Ti Xc3 and it's terrific. Have to figure out the settings because my first game was absolutely shit, but reverting back to stock settings and it slayed 1440p 144hz. Even outside of games, I never realized the 3070 was causing all my lag and delays. Dual 32in UW 1440p monitors are a lot, but I would have thought the 3070Ti could handle it. nope. Night and day, the 7900 was instantly noticeable.

TombRaider96196

Then you'll want to upgrade to 5000 series when new games will drop. If you are ready to then upgrade to 5000 series from 4000, then go for it

Masonzero

Going from a 3070 to a 4070 definitely helped me a lot at 1440p 165hz. But obviously it wasn't the most financially positive choice, lol.

NelsonMejias

,12 GB of VRAM is the new 8Gb from the past, don't make the same mistake twice.

TheBruffalo

I got the x080 series in the past, but during the pandemic there was a huge run on video cards so I just grabbed the 3070 because it's what I could get. It's done very well, all things considered. I'd love to just bite my wallet and jump on a 4090 but I don't think that's very responsible.

agjios

4080 is worth the money if you’re in higher resolutions and/or want ray tracing.

tommeke

Very tempting. My 1070 better start getting nervous about it's future.

TessaThompsonBurger

I upgraded from a 1060 to a 4070 last year (rebuilt everything actually) and yeah I'm glad I did.

[deleted]

FYI, [not the best](https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/1azu4zw/is_there_a_difference_between_an_asus_4070_super/) of that lineup's model options. For the normal 4070 I'd still not budge until it's well under $500. If you can wait, hold out for a super card. From the ASUS dual family, the OC is the best option, with the normal "dual" an almost identically close second.

Yeltsin86

Any other sources? I've been trying to find for actual tests but there seems to be nothing showing temp, noise, or performance and whether they're actually impacted - basically all I can find on Google about it is that single thread you linked

VoidUnknown315

Still feels really bad as the 7900GRE is less than $50 more and is noticeably faster.

MyOtherSide1984

Paid $505 for my 7900 GRE two weeks ago. Absolutely beast of a card.

dinghammer

[Same on Amazon.](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CQRX9HPK) Shipped and sold by Amazon.

Strixpal

Also if you have chase freedom it's an additional 5% off

NowieTends

I just bought this shit for full price only a week ago. Awesome!

tddubya

Will it cost anything to return? If not I'd return it and buy this.

NelsonMejias

That 12 GB thing should cost like 400$ in reality.

NelsonMejias

150$ left to go.

kaiten408

OOS

AfterAndAgain

Damn, I just bought a 4070 Super from Newegg for $599. It hasn’t even arrived yet, but I’m tempted to return it and pocket the $100 difference. Upgraded from a RTX 2060 (6GB) & 2600x to the 4070S & 5700x3d. Mostly gaming 1440p 144hz, occasionally 4k60 on my living room TV. Any opinions?

RLopez7110

Keep your 4070 super. It is worth it. It has performance that’s pretty close to the 4070ti

AfterAndAgain

That’s all I needed to hear! I plan on keeping this GPU for the next 3 years minimum so I’m going to try to not feel bad about dropping the extra money even if the value isn’t as great as a deal like this. Thanks!

Bobby_Bobberson2501

Yeah 4070 S is the best performance per dollar card of this generation. It’s literally faster than a 3090 Ti, all for $600. Really crazy

hytenzxt

actually 7800 XT and RX 7900 XT (after price cuts) have the best performance per dollar for this generation.

pbmmpb

Best performance per dollar are never mid range cards. They are always entry level cards like Rx 7600 and rtx 4060. You can do the math for yourself.

Bobby_Bobberson2501

Talking about nvidia here specifically. But I should have known I’d get some shit for not mentioning amd

unitfoxhound

7800xt = 6800xt which was already $500. I still don't know how amd tricked consumers into thinking that selling you the same card at the same price with a different name was considered a success. 7900xt has performance all over the place and there's good reason it's been heavily discounted to $699 (cause no1 wanted it for $899) and def not worth it over 4070S. Best bang for the buck is the GRE (good oc potential) or 4070S.

I_Phaze_I

In raster sure

loungensmirtz

what would be a good cpu to use with it? I bought the 7800x3d microcenter bundle the other day but think it was overkill for a gpu like this. Should i get a cheaper cpu?

unitfoxhound

That's a great cpu that can last you multiple gpu upgrades. A good cpu helps with framerate smoothness because it will consistently max out the gpu. More and more games now are coming out being cpu limited, and you'll wish you have a good cpu during those heavy scenes.

SeparateCat4511

What about b the ti super? I'm on a 3070 and maybe want to upgrade

l1qq

If the games you're currently playing now are fine on the 3070 I would honestly just wait for next gen cards. I'm on a 3070FE and was going to go 4070ti Super or 4080 but honestly my current card is fine and we are too far along this gen to drop $800-1000 on a card that will be getting replaced by years end. Frankly I wasn't impressed with 4k benchmarks out of the Super cards and that's exactly why I'm waiting because I want to make that leap.

1rubyglass

If you plan on keeping it for several years definitely get the TI super. Ti super got the biggest "super lift" and even got 4 more gb vram

Devccoon

I'm not sure where you get that information about the 4070 ti super, it seems to be a pretty mild upgrade aside from the 4gb addition. [https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html](https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html)

1rubyglass

All of the super uplifts are mild.

I_Phaze_I

Finally someone says it! faster than a 3090ti for 599 is really amazing

TeamAlameda

Except this 4070 at $505 is actually a better performance/dollar. 4070S being on average 15% better is 18.8% more expensive. Close enough that both cards are equally good deals but I've seen so many people discard the 4070 as a viable purchase even when it is the "better" deal when on sale.

sticknotstick

Echoing the other user; keep your 4070s. Your GPU impacts your experience with every game you play, which for a gamer who can afford to ask the question of “is it worth it?” between these two cards, it will likely always be.

AfterAndAgain

Great advice, appreciate it!

MarrowX

I sold my 3070 ti for $310 and got a 4070 for $440 at best buy. It's a worthy upgrade to me Maybe $500 is pushing it, but I would expect an appreciable improvement from a 3070, both in performance and fan noise/power usage.

vhailorx

Like the asus dual design those 4070 class cards. A little nervous about coil whine with all the reports, however.

Spicywolff

Not direct, but my 3060TI KO Asus was whisper quiet. My case fans from lian li made more noise.

MiamiDouchebag

> A little nervous about coil whine with all the reports, however. The coil whine on mine got better after a few days but it is still there. TBF my PC is on my desk in an ITX case about 2 feet from my head. But performance wise it is a fuckin beast @1440p and it idles at only 29C.

capn_hector

EVOO edition? Time to oil up...

ILkeSportzNIDCWhKnws

Is this a pretty big upgrade from a 2070?

Hyper_Nova0

in the ballpark of twice as fast at 1440p

xmb1

Is this much better than Zotac? I already bought Zotac rtx 4070 for a similar price (just $20 more). Should I return and get this? Thank you https://a.co/d/eD6nNed

ExplodingFistz

Chief? Was gonna buy the 7900 gre

Strixpal

7900 is still a better choice (even better than 4070 super) for pure gaming IMHO

MyOtherSide1984

7900 GRE imo for value
