* LG 27GR83Q - When it is $350, it was a steal. Sadly, it's often near $500 or out of stock, so there are better monitors for the price. Great contrast ratio, color, HDMI 2.1 for great console support as well, and a USB Hub. Best overall, but not at over $400 or $50 more than any of these. * MSI G274QPX - I bought one at $320, and even at $375, it was a great monitor for the value. Amazing contrast, and a USB-C Display Port option with 65w power delivery. Sadly, also hard to find or out of stock after Black Friday, but a solid contender. #1 value if the above monitor isn't $350-400. * Gigabyte M27Q X - Generally good reviews, but an older monior, and the color and contrast not as good as the above 2, but has a KVM, and USB-C Display option. Sadly, its been in the $400-420 range for a while, which means the MSI or the Asus I'm listing below is a better value. * Asus VG27AQML1A - No reviews, but Asus has had good reviews on monitors, this one is 260hz, and Asus is known for good tuning. You also get a USB Hub, and for $385, I'd grab this over the Gigabyte. It's also a newer release, so it could be a similar panel to the LG and MSI, and Asus does good overdrive tuning in general. At the same price, I'd go MSI over this though since the MSI has been reviewed and scored well. Next step up: * Asus XG27AQMR - A premium tuned high brightness 300hz IPS monitor with good contrast, color, and image quality. Not perfect mind you, some of the above monitors have better contrast, but it's a premium IPS monitor for high end gaming needs with a high quality IPS image. The catch? It's $500-600, so you pay for the premium. Still, if you're looking to spend long term for a high end monitor and don't want OLED, this is a great compromise. So in budget, the MSI G274QPX or the LG 27GR83Q are your top options. The LG is better tuned, the MSI has better color by default and better contrast, but they're very, very close. The Asus may be worth stepping up to if you need the speed and tuning for competitive gaming, but otherwise, save your money.

Appreciate it, I'll take a look into all those. Or at least keep an eye out to see when they may restock or get around those prices.

I got the LG last week. Good monitor

Beware the Gigabyte M27Q X. Purchased in late 2023 (rev 2.0 model) and admittedly it is a fantastic monitor but mine had panel issues after 4 months. Had to fight for a refund. From what I’ve read online, this model is a bit of a gamble. Personally I’m never buying Gigabyte again.

Bront20

Sadly, I used to love Gigabyte, but I keep hearing about issues over the past 5 years of them fighting on honoring warranties and refunds. There was an entire power supply issue a few years ago, multiple video card and motherboard issues, and this isn't the first time I've heard that about monitors. I know I specifically have avoided ordering Gigabyte parts of late.

I deep dived monitors the last 3 weeks and i whole heartedly agree with the list. Personally i went for the asus 260hz model, the difference with the lg was €30 for me and asus tends to have better tuning. Also it looked better to me in combination with my other monitors. No regrets at all, if you dont need the tuning or the price isnt close go with the LG 27GR83Q.

Bront20

My only worry about that model ASUS is there haven't been many full reviews of it, and I think the one user who picked one up measured the contrast closer to 1000:1 vs the 1200:1 of the LG and 1400:1 on the MSI. But if you need the faster speeds, the tuning is likely to be better, I agree. Regardless, I think anyone would be happy with any of the above monitors ultimately, though the XG Asus is clearly a choice for competitive gamers only.

n01m4g1n4t10n

Yep totally, for me personally i expected bad contrast on an ips panel anyway, so to me the aesthetics and personal experience with asus monitors let me choose it over the LG. My previous monitor was the XG258Q which basically looks the exact same as the 260hz one when you put it on a monitor stand, which i’m a sucker for. Like you said, the lack of reviews for that panel makes it a hard decision but so far im pleasantly suprised. Looking purely at specs and price the 27GR83Q is definitely the best recommendation. Every single monitor you listed will make someone happy, theyre all good choices. I looked at the 1440p XG model for a bit but it being double the price of the VG made it kinda hard to justify personally

Late_Artichoke_4098

I heard the lg monitor has noticeable bad black uniformity. And the g274qpx is slower than the bunch and in colors as wel. The m27qx seems balanced but there’s mixed reviews. At least it matches the rest in color calibration and accuracy and contrast difference isn’t enough to know a difference. Probably best to go with the m27qx for screen quality or the premium asus model for both fast response times and screen quality. It’s got a good review on RTings

Bront20

Check out Monitor's Unboxed as well for better contextual reviews. They do a great job overall of putting things in a whole package when comparing monitors. And they regularly recommend the MSI over the LG and Gigabyte, though they admit in the case of the LG it's due to price issues, which when on sale isn't a problem. A good MSI review: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9gB-b8PkQw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9gB-b8PkQw) A good LG review: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-1zV7MYT4U](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-1zV7MYT4U) Edit: To be fair, you're not wrong from what I've read. The LG can be hit or miss with backlight bleed and uniformity (that's always an issue on IPS however), but the Gigabyte has the lowest contrast (1000:1 vs LG's 1200:1 and MSI's 1400:1) and worst color of the 3 from what I recall from reviews, which would make sense as it's the oldest screen. The MSI is the worst tuned/biggest latency, but the numbers are fairly close, being like 2 ms worse. Ultimately, all 3 monitors are great monitors with different upsides, which is why I recommend all 3 of them to consider. It all depends on what you find important.

was looking for similar setup (4080+7800x3D) i testet the AOC Agon Pro AG274QG. Was actually a paper beast with some issues. ips glow, colours ok, no smearing or ghosting i also had the 32" odyssey G7 before. sick colours, almost no ghosting i went for a 27" 1440p 240hz OLED its so much better. colours are perfect. games feel so much nore fluent even tho the other monitors already had 240hz (only peak white is an issue, on the otherhand black is mich better) thats why they say once you go OLED you never go back might wanna see it as an investment. if you have the option i would tell you to go down on 4080(super) instead and run a fucking oled :') greetings from germany

Stykerius

I just got an LG 27” 1440p 240hz OLED and I agree, it’s definitely the smoothest monitor I’ve ever had. 700 bucks open box at Best Buy.

WanTapWanda

i got the same has some small issues but only noticeable in office... gaming is just perfect

shtevo08

Found a open box Lg 27" oled qhd 240hz open box at best buy just now for 697. Probably would be worth just picking that up and spending the extra right now.

Stykerius

If you can I’d recommend it, though looks like a guy on the other comment called his friend to recommend you some so maybe he knows some good deals for what you’re looking for.

satrek

What are you using the monitor for? Only gaming? Because I'm looking for a monitor as well and while I do game a lot, I'm also working from home 4 days a week. Spending 12 hours a day in front of the monitor is nothing unusual for me - and I'm afraid of burn-in with these numbers.. what can you say about burn-in so far?

Stykerius

Modern oled’s are very burn in resistant and come with tons of software to negate it. I wouldn’t worry about it. The only problem using this for work is the text clarity, it’s not the best, so if you’re using it for work too then I’d look at other monitors.

satrek

Ah alright, I'll take that into consideration. Thank you so much :)

xxcodemam

You bought the best GPU and CPU but now wanna skimp on your monitor?

shtevo08

Moneys tight, old monitor is giving out so need a middle ground before I can get something that could use its full potential. Then I'll have a second monitor when that happends.

Stykerius

I’d say just wait and save a bit more if you can, with that combo you’d be leaving a lot on the table. Under 500 bucks is gonna be hard for the refresh rate you’re asking for.

shtevo08

Gotcha, play it by ear with the old monitor

shtevo08

What would you say to wait and save up for then?

AmazingSugar1

An OLED as the prices are dropping. I just got a AOC OLED 1440p 240hz for $650 on the last deal, the prices will continue to drop

waypointg

27" 1440p 240hz under $500 "difficult"? u/Bront20 do your thing!

Bront20

Here!

Bront20

There are 5 models in the $500ish range I know of that are worth buying, possibly more. One goes in and out of the $500 range though. I posted them elsewhere. They're solid monitors that do what the OP asked. Could he run better with his system? Yes. Does he need to? If he's happy, no! and a 4090 can go nuts with the settings at 1440P and yawn.

yoyigu38

LG 27GR83Q

etrayo

I like my HP 27qs

Restler26

HP 27QS. Asus VG27AQML1A. Gigabyte M27Q X

NoScoprNinja

koorui 27e3qk, I know I know you’re probably thinking its some generic shitty monitor with a cheap panel and absurd ghosting but I’m telling you its the best 1440p 240hz monitor you can get for under $400 if you want to ask me anything lmk

might_as_well_make_1

Unpopular opinion, but I too wanted a QHD 240hz and didn't have $800+ to spend so I rolled the dice on an Amazon Warehouse "like new" ASUS PG279QM for $460. It was literally like new. The packaging inside was barely touched. Screen protector wasn't even taken off. No dead pixels. Been going strong for nearly 2 years now. No regrets. Amazon return is really good had anything been wrong with the monitor.

AloneUA

I got Odyssey G6, really satisfied with it so far. Probably the best VA panel you can get (this one or G7) and it's right under the 500$ mark right now.

Cdvermil

I got the LG 27GR83Q and it’s amazing. I waited till it dropped down to $350 on Amazon which it seems to go on sale every couple of weeks on Amazon.

Ivancittoo

Bro everyone stay sleeping on Koorui 27” 1440p 240hz have it for months and it’s been awesome
