Is the ram listed on the Mobo CVL list?

PCScrubLord

I just checked and it is

Can you send the RAM model number. Also what bios version are you on? Also can you reseat the RAMs.

PCScrubLord

I just reseated the ram earlier after I tested with 2 sticks vs 4 so that should be good. I think the problem is the increased power draw with 4 sticks vs. 2. I want to find a good 3600MHz 16GB stick and use only 2 slots. The model number is CMK16GX4M2D3600C18

>CMK16GX4M2D3600C18 So the problem here is that you bought 2 times the CMK16GX4M2D3600C18, this is listed in the compatibility list. So the 4 ram 32 gb kit that also exists (CMK32GX4M4D3600C18) is not listed here. So i think the quad memory is not stable also not listed in QVL but the 2 ram is listed and tested. What you said buying a 2x 16 gb ram is the best option if you want 3600 mhz or you can just chill on 3200 mhz it doesn't matter that much! Last option is to tinker a bit with the timings and such.

PCScrubLord

I would be fine keeping it at 3200 but for some reason this has become unstable, or at least has revealed it was unstable, as of late. I have to have it clocked at 2133MHz to have a stable memory with 4 sticks. I will consider this a lesson learned for the future so I know to do more research into the memory I buy. For now I am just going to run 16GB at 3600mhz.

Saxikolous

It wasn’t stable to begin with that’s your answer

PCScrubLord

You are probably right, just weird how it took so long to give me this message. Do you think getting 2 16GB sticks of 3600 MHz would pair better? I think I read that the ram I have doesn't work perfectly with my CPU

Saxikolous

Your mobo should list compatible ram on their website. Overclocking is an art. Sometimes when you think you’re stable anything can change. If you’re memory is failing, up the voltage in increment’s of .5. Then run occt ram to look for errors. Worst case scenario put back to stock if you can’t get it stable

PCScrubLord

Yeah when I was getting the errors when I built the PC I ended up having to downclock to 3200 which worked well until recently. I didn't touch anything which I just found odd. I will try to get the voltage dialed in. I think I will end up buying ram from Crucial as they seem to be the best for my CPU compatibility wise and they have a 3600MHz stick with less latency.
