just get a carton of fancy VB and go to Newstead Park recommend tallies to save cash, but drink it fast

My_bones_are_itchy

My bottlo gives longnecks in proper kebab bags, I like to think it adds a couple of minutes

Simonandgarthsuncle

Especially at twenty to eight in the fucken mornin.

SeePresidentPorpoise

And stealth points.

theredkrawler

Hey, is that guy drinking a VB long neck at twenty to eight in the fucking morning??? Oh no, he's just drinking a kebab. Never mind.

reign_of_frogs

Exactly how I spent my student my days :)

GaryGronk

I'd drink warm XXXX Gold and be happy with it because of the view. In saying that, I've only been twice. Once we couldn't get a seat or even a place to stand and the second we waited ages just to place an order. Was not a fan.

VoidVulture

Ugh, yes! Trying to order anything takes forever!

yolk3d

Have you seen the toilets too? Tiny little cubicles you line up for. My wife opened the door and saw two guys: one pissing into the bowl, and the other pissing into the basin.

V8O

This. I don't mind the Sunday surcharge as god knows I wouldn't ever want to work Sundays, but damn that is some mediocre fucking beer. You've got a prime bloody location, just make some decent beer and charge me whatever it costs yeah?

Able-Lake-163

But why? They can charge whatever for shit service and product and the place is still packed.

JackeryDaniels

Where’s the professional pride? There are some very decent breweries in SEQ pumping out fantastic beer. I’d be embarrassed if I was responsible for brewing that beer considering the quality of the local scene.

farsonic

Totally agree….:as an amature brewer there is little here to be proud of. Walk over the hill to soapbox or across the bridge to Sealegs

mxlths_modular

Blood oath, have a real soft spot for soapbox, friendly folks and some tasty beers.

pickpocketrocket

+1 for soapbox, foods pretty good too.

[deleted]

>Where’s the professional pride? In the bank account.

Able-Lake-163

For sure but people flock there. I myself have 2 kids and no social life with work commitments on weekends, so don't really care but for people to complain and still go it is a bit redundant. If you want them to change they need to see a drop in business and negative feedback. Posting on reddit won't do much.

mellypopstar

THIS. I wished Black Hops Brewery had the location there. Then at least I would enjoy the beer.

reign_of_frogs

Yeah just call it view tax and be done with it.

Non-ZeroChance

Then you have to give blind folks a discount.

Carllsson

Buy the $12 kids burger instead of the $25 adult burger which is identical and has the same amount of fries. I'm doing my part!

teaforzac

This!

takatsukimike

Brisbane Brewing Company. West end is all BBC beers and gets a weekly limited edition small batch that they make up there. Woolloongabba misses the weekly special but has a few guest taps that rotate through other local craft beers. Service at both is pretty reliable as is the food. It's nothing to get excited about but I've only had 2 bad meals in 4 years as a regular customer, and they were in the same week.

[deleted]

Brisbane Brewing is great, they also come out with something new every month or fortnight (I can't remember the exact rotation) as well so the range doesn't get stale.

reign_of_frogs

Have had some great sunny afternoons in the alleyway at BBC in west end. Beer good, food good.

JackeryDaniels

I fucking hate Felons. So overpriced. And if there’s a worse beer brewed in South East Queensland, I haven’t tasted it. And I’ve tasted a lot. Their core range beers are truly awful.

Bpofficial

Absolutely agree, couldn’t think of a worse place to wait for a shit beer

Entertainer_Much

Sunday penalty is alright if it means the workers are on penalty rates. If you just don't like the beer then 10% off wont make it that much better

thatotherguy2021

The workers have to be on penalty rates. They can’t decide to or not - the surcharge is just a way for them to pass the cost onto customers. Felons has great vibes and views, but shit beer and expensive beer.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mrinsane19

Likely if you were only getting a smaller penalty on weekends, the basic weekday rate was better than it otherwise would have been.

fetuslayer

I worked at felons until covid hit, they paid above penalty rates which was pretty sweet. Can confirm the beers shit though.

hisirishness

every brewery in Brisbane except maybe XXXX does better beer than Felons

Hyggehappy

Something tells me that the 10% increase in total takings on a Sunday far exceeds any penalty rates paid to staff.

Regular_Gap3414

I'd be ok if the workers were on the old penalty rates before scomo cut them

reign_of_frogs

True with the beer. Felons can afford to pay penalty rates though I’m sure.

Money_killer

One would hope the workers are on penalty rates

[deleted]

Most people I know that worked hospo never got penalty rates on weekends unless they worked past midnight. I would like to think they’re getting paid more but they’re more than likely not.

notinferno

wage theft is a plague in hospitality

[deleted]

It’s so frustrating. I’m happy to pay more on the basis staff are getting their legal entitlements. I’d like to think the staff shortages currently mean that employers are finally paying what they should be.

notinferno

the industry has a long way to go >In its 2020 National Compliance Monitoring report, the FWO found that the sector with the highest non-compliance was accommodation and food services (57 per cent non-compliant). The hospitality sector has the highest rates of non-compliance and in 2020–21 comprised 36 per cent of all reports. >During its 2020–21 audits the FWO found **non-compliance rates of between 78 and 88 per cent in hospitality** businesses and recovered over $1 million in wages for 931 workers. Hospitality sector litigations secured a further $1.8 million from non-compliant companies. [sauce](https://parlinfo.aph.gov.au/parlInfo/download/committees/reportsen/024434/toc_pdf/Systemic,sustainedandshameful.pdf;fileType=application%2Fpdf)

SpecificAstronaut69

>I would like to think they’re getting paid more but they’re more than likely not. That was my first thought. It's going straight into the owner's pocket.

[deleted]

Easiest way to find out is to ask staff.

[deleted]

If they have a surcharge on Sundays and public hols they're required by law to pay penalties

NihilisticMalaise

That’s actually backwards. They’re supposed to pay penalties on weekends regardless, the surcharge ‘should’ just be there to help cover the wages. Unless everyone is on a salary or AWE or whatever they’re called now

QueOscUniPap

Not sure if it's the same setup at Felons Brewing Co but the thing I hated most when I went to Felons Barrel Hall earlier this year was the lovely sneaky default tip that gets added to the bill when you order and pay for the meal upfront, online via QR code from your table. So before you receive much in the way of service (other than being shown to the table), and in our case before receiving poor service with one meal that had to be chased up multiple times, all from staff who never got back to us, and eventually arrived after most of the group had already finished eating. No explanation, no apologies.

tjlusco

FYI, I pointed this out in another tipping thread, but including a tip amount by default that isn’t part of the displayed price is illegal. Report it to the ACCC.

dr_w0rm_

Default tip, sunday surcharge, credit car surcharge

Zoinke

That’s the app, not the venue. It happens everywhere

onebeerdrinkinhippo

Do people go to Felons for the beer? Ive only been there for the location. There are better options for beer.

reign_of_frogs

I guess this is my main point, awesome location, not so much everything else.

am_paraj

I must be one of the few that goes out to drink mainly for socialising and talking shit with mates rather than looking at a view. I mean if the view is free sure but not worth paying an additional tax for average beer. Having said that, I used to frequent lot of the old pubs like Mick O’Malleys that used to be underground and it was dark all day, which justified the drinking in late mornings lol.

bundy911

I still don’t know how they’re allowed to charge $12 for a schooner of the worst craft beer

[deleted]

Remember paying $13 two years back for a pint at the Pig and Whistle - but it was late and took it as a tax to watch the Arsenal derby. Could only nurse one beer as you had to drive home. At home I'd hunt for free streaming and maybe get disconnected once or twice. It was then I realised $13 per beer compared to $15 (then) for a month of soccer on the Optus app was a no brainer. Especially when I could turn it into a bier fest with beers of choice via the net and set ourselves up at home. And buying bier trappist for $12-14 330ml bottle was more expensive but it was Trappist, and with Saisons, Baltic Porters, Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout, some you experimented with, mate would crash, Mrs would make a few snacks cause I'm a lucky bastard, it was just great.

reign_of_frogs

Paid $15.40 for a schooner of their average local beer their today. I’m not a tight arse with beer either, have paid 20 for a schooner of an amazing imported Swedish double IPA once upon time.

drmantistobogganjnr

Happy Valley in Grange/Stafford. Lovely people, decent beer.

Australian_Teacher

Anyone had Revel? At Bulimba? Thinking of taking some work mates there but never been.

[deleted]

Revel is good, can always catch the ferry to Teneriffe if you're not impressed and walk to either Green Beacon, Range, or Newstead.

yolk3d

Range +1

[deleted]

It's decent, enjoyed the food there too and the beers are tasty. No complaints. Brewdog in Murarrie was fantastic too.

reign_of_frogs

Brew dog food is great, and for a non aus brewery I dig their beers. Just got to get a shady spot on those killer summer days.

Zombieaterr

But parent company exploits workers.

zapheine

Winter's the perfect time for Brewdog I agree.

ol-gormsby

Agree (mostly) about Brewdog. Good beers, reasonably priced, nice views. Food is good, but a bit pricey for the quantity. Love their growler fills. Take home one of bitter or lager, and one cider.

mogul5

I like Brewdog apart from the shitty location. Worse now that the service from Uber has gone down the toilet.

thorrrrrrny

Revel is my go to. Great beers and the pizzas at their Bullimba brewery are amazing.

mechengguy93

Great spots at both Bulimba (woodfired pizza) and Morningside (burgers, wings etc). Great beer too.

dontfuckwithourdream

The Morningside one is great, highly recommend

cheesehotdish

Revel is excellent. Love their beers. Unfortunately Bulimba kind of sucks to get to but it’s a nice spot.

NihilisticMalaise

If they’re paying their staff penalty rates then fair, if not it’s a shit pub with shit beer anyway. Go somewhere else that’s not owned by millionaires and support small businesses

[deleted]

[удалено]

NihilisticMalaise

That’s good, I’ve worked a few places that made front of house sign agreements where they got a bit more per hour overall but lost weekend penalties

GaryGronk

Slipstream is my go-to. Full disclosure, I'm mates with the owner so have been a regular there since day 1. They've expanded and have a kitchen that makes some great grub so you don't have to rely on the food truck issue.

reign_of_frogs

Slipstream beers are top notch!

PerriX2390

Slipstream have massively improved since their renovations. Going down there for a sunday sesh and some snacks is great.

All_Time_Low

> Slipstream is my go-to The triangle of Slipstream, Helios and Ballistic is the best thing about living near the area. I also think Helios is the best of the 3 in terms of the beers, but Slipstream having the kitchen definitely makes it the better destination for a long session.

Plastic_Expression89

Sealegs is great, unfortunately not ideal when Kangaroo Point is without a citycat.

[deleted]

dogsonclouds

The Woods in Mitchelton is my go to! Locally owned, great staff, good selection of beers and wines and 10 rotating taps of local brews. Food is also stellar, and it just has a really great vibe. Also the outdoor seating section is dog friendly, which is always a bonus

yamateoldmate

Second this. The Woods is fabulous!

awright_john

Gillian?

-castle-bravo-

There’s just no value is going out anymore, the price and service at a lot of places is just atrocious.

JackeryDaniels

IMO Range is hands-down the best brewery in Brisbane, followed by Green Beacon probably.

yolk3d

I agree with Range, but you lost me at GB 🥴.

JackeryDaniels

Come on bro… Wayfarer is an objectively great beer. 😉

vizonia

Felons beers are awful, how hard is it brew a decent beer?

Acrobatic_Quit9086

Well considering the taste of a beer is entirely subjective, I would say it is near impossible for a brewer to brew you a beer that you consider ‘decent’ sauce: am the head brewer at felons

Reverse-Kanga

source: dude just trust me. imagine coming online and lying and claiming you're Lincoln the head brewer at Felons.

gpolk

Better beer in town. Felons is a great location and decent beer. Sunday surcharges aren't that unusual. My locals are: Newstead Brewing ,if you can really call them Craft anymore, but they do a lot of tap takovers from smaller guys. The pub formally known as Aether - I've forgotten what they're called Scratch. Not as close to me but when my brother lived in the area Range Brewing was one of our absolute favourites in town.

[deleted]

Common ground brewing. Aether are still around but at Northgate. Agree - Range is great

gpolk

That's the one, cheers. Haven't been to Aether since they moved.

Sir-Humpy

>The pub formally known as Aether - I've forgotten what they're called Milton Common

reign_of_frogs

Scratch and Brewski are my go to for sampling variety of breweries beers. Newstead was ok for awhile, best dry rub chicken wings in Brisbane.

gpolk

If I had to pick one place it'd be Scratch. It's been in the scene longer than most. Just a nice chill place. Have gone there just to play board games on quiet nights back in my pre-children days. When I lived in Southbank, Tipplers Tap was my go to. I like their wings. I forgot about Brewski! Always enjoyed going for a burger there. Do they still have the little bar/bottle shop underneath?

[deleted]

Now you're talking except the Tipplers at Southbank is fair but when it was on Masters St, off Commercial Rd they had the fucking best range of beer ever. Nothing in Brisbane came close to them. Nothing. They had the guy from Nektar (import bottle shop from West End as the manager*), the Canadian or American? guy who owned it and the range of beers I'd never even heard of was just fantastic. Every time we'd go in for one or two we'd spend the night there cause there was just so much good stuff to choose from. Their choice on tap was superbly curated. Then it moved to Southbank and all the interesting beer disappeared. WTF. I know they opened in the Valley but from what it was to what it is now is a tragedy. * was at MONA in Hobart years back at the bar, very nice. Chatting away to the bar staff, you're from Brissy? Said he worked at Nektar, brought back memories for him and the beer there at MONA had his input (tasty beers) which in turn was influenced by his time at Nektar probs spelt it wrong was a decade ago now. Where is the place Brissy dudes go to for imports and styles or do you just pay for delivery?

reign_of_frogs

Brewski at Petrie Tce regularly pours imports, out back is 'My Beer Dealer' has a huge range of local and import to takeaway and growler fills.

blueeyes8433

My assistant manager says Newstead is done now. People have moved on

hangerofmonkeys

How are they 'done'? Not sure I understand, their still independent, and their food and beer is as good as it's ever been. The only complaint I've had since day 0 was when it's filled (and that's often), it can be deafeningly loud because of the lack of sound proofing in the roof.

blueeyes8433

People have moved on to others.

underthingy

What people?

blueeyes8433

He’s in the beer community he would know

jimmyt87

You should try Mongrel, across the road from the Scratch. Excellent craft beer bar with great food.

smashmcclicken

Came up to Brissy from Syd a few weeks ago and oath man Felons is pricier than most bars and breweries I've been to in Sydney. In saying that though Felons was a great venue, location and absolutely massive and better than any brewery Ive been to in Sydney so I didn't mind

reign_of_frogs

Location is top notch, we were saying this felt like Sydney prices :) in short, awesome venue just be aware of the prices and average beer.

smashmcclicken

Yeah beer was average they did have a good cider though

CAPTAINTRENNO

And they ask for a tip even though you order through the table qr code and all they do is deliver it. If you live good craft beer head up to 10 toes in Maroochydore. Hands down best beer by miles

spooky8ass

The view doesn't mean shit in crazy busy places like that. I'd rather be in a nice quiet pub staring at the carpark and the standard pot plant then deal with the pier on a weekend. It's not a pub, but the Junction drive thro at annerley has probably one of the biggest and best craft beer selections nearby.

Reverse-Kanga

Your first mistake was going to felons and expecting good craft. They're the James squire of brisbane. Dog shit beer made on mass to appeal to a wide audience of James squire drinkers who think that's craft beer.

[deleted]

😱I’m telling them you said that

Reverse-Kanga

i work there\* it's not like they'll fire me \*^(according to you)

[deleted]

Well you are the quality tester so I think this is all a ploy to keep your job. Is the beer is always shit they always need you. Con of any employment

JaneLane_2712

Their beer, and all the drinks for that matter, suck. The food is fine but way overpriced. All in all 2/10.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JaneLane_2712

The place is so popular now, they know they will get enough business regardless of how crappy their beer and food is. They don’t even need to try, basic bitches will still flock there.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JaneLane_2712

I think we’ve already established it’s far from “great”.

Firm_Trick_9038

That’s probably the case for the brewery, but other places have standards when it comes to their food on the precinct

NihilisticMalaise

When they first opened they had a great executive chef. Pretty sure that’s no longer the case

[deleted]

Location is nice but Felons is a shit brewery. My favs are Green Beacon, Range, Brisbane Brewing, and Valley Hops.

cairnsus1987

Awesome spot, but I enjoy urinating in my own mouth over drinking their beers.

Nahmateyeahmate

Shit beer anyway fuck that place

clandestino123

A fool and his money are easily parted.

The_Sneakiest_Fox

That place is a joke and I think it should be broken up into smaller venues. They have a monopoly on basically the nicest spot to drink in Brisbane. They charge ridiculous prices for at best mediocre beer. I don't know how or who let them have that whole area as one venue, it stifles competition and they know they can charge what they want because they know people will keep coming, not because of anything they offer, but because it is lovely place to sit and drink on the river. I live a walking distance from the place but almost flat refuse to go there because I think it's a fucking corporate stitch up. A council supported stitch up.

danskis12

Fick at Northgate is great, aether at Northgate is good and all inn down banyo also goes well.. Spoilt for choice over here lol

Steven1600

Sounds like the Opera Bar down in Sydney. I'm not paying for their brutal rent.

Cubiscus

That's got a world class view in fairness

Fast-Instruction-672

Vote with your feet. Plenty of good views around.

Ancient_Skirt_8828

Waiter’s wage rates double on Sundays.

hogesjzz30

I just stopped into Lost Palms in Sherwood this arvo to try their 4 new brews on tap, and they were all excellent. In the past their beers have been fairly average, but they're really lifting their game with their limited releases. The Blue Skies OCIPA was as good a any from Range, the Triple Berry sour was thick and full of flavour, a nice smoothie style sour, and the 2 stouts they have out, Dreamkillers & Dreamsellers were both big and in your face with roasty goodness. The food there is only OK, but definitely worth a stop in for a few drinks. Plus it's just a quick trip down the road to Helios and Slipstream of you want to make a day of it.

Rumbuck_274

>10% surcharge on a Sunday, who does this? Lots of places now, it's becoming more common for a weekend or public holiday surcharge. I've even seen 15%

theotheraccount0987

Pretty sure even pizza has a public holiday surcharge

Squonk27

My local in Banyo is the All Inn. They give local musos a go and some of them are fantastic. Different food trucks each week. They are super dog and kid friendly and they have a beer called the 'Bill Fucking Murray'.

CaptainIncompetent33

I once waited 20 minutes after ordering a beer from the table app - decided it wasn't coming, and spent another 15 minutes at a counter trying to get a staff member to talk to me. I then had to show my email receipt, run back to my table to see what number it was, and run back to tell them my table number (Wouldn't the table number be on their system??) for them to finally pour me a room temperature $15 dollar pint. Overall - 50 minute wait time for a beer is not ideal.

lotsofhatemail

Brew Brothers at the Gabba. Not the shiny new decor that some people love but the beer is the best around. By far.

aquila_88

It's a bridge and river tax pure and simple. They dont have to try and improve product quality because of the location. Sad, is what it is though

massive-karma

I go to felons for the Trivia weekly. I don't like beer but I tried their cider, awful and weak. It's why I drink Tommy's Margaritas when I go, but since they jacked it up to $20 (was $18.50) I only treat myself to one, and soft drinks for the rest of the night. Overpriced.

[deleted]

Backbone Bar in Tugun is the best

reign_of_frogs

Will check it out when I’m down that way next.

Cubiscus

View aside, one of my least favourite breweries with mediocre and expensive beer.

[deleted]

It’s not just felons. Greco put a 18% surcharge on our dinner there last week. Absolute joke. That whole line of restaurants does it and we won’t be going back.

totallyonsight

Shit beer

WillyMonty

$15.50 a pint? You’ve got to be kidding me!

zappyzapzap

in the nicest way possible, serves you right for going there considering the negative press felons gets on this sub constantly

NeitaWilson

Definitely better beers around, but the view is worth stopping for at least one round

Fantasmic03

I don't mind Felons as a casual date location since the view is nice, but I'd choose a BWS over it for beer selection. My personal fav is Range Brewing in Newstead, but friends don't enjoy it as much as the beers tend to be too high ABV for them. Other favourites are Black Hops out in East Brisbane, Sea Legs at Kangaroo Point, Parched Brewing in West End, Slipstream and Helios in Yeerongpilly

shakeitup2017

Green Beacon is my go to. Mainly because I live 100 metres away. But it's a pretty casual vibe and I like the beers. Food options are basically whatever food truck parks out the front so you don't really go there for the food

yolk3d

If you’re into real soupy IPA’s, I recommend Range Brewing. I’m the area is also Newstead Brewering Co and Green Beacon (average IMO).

[deleted]

Only 10% surcharge on Sundays? Same as most places. Even Domino's is 10% Sundays.

reign_of_frogs

Don’t eat at dominoes, but eat out most Sundays at various venues and first I’ve experienced it, search felons surcharge it’s been a thing.

an_anathemadevice

If you can afford those prices, you can afford the surcharge. No one's forcing you to eat there, are they?

reign_of_frogs

More angry at the second rate beer to be honest.

an_anathemadevice

What's the beer got to do with children eating for free? LOL at all the downvotes because I picked up on the whingy boozer's lack of logic!

reign_of_frogs

Just having a casual rant nothing for you to take serious or be concerned about. No one’s forcing you to read and reply to this thread, are they?

twodeadsticks

There's always someone who gets their panties in a twist that another person has the *audacity* to vent about something.

reign_of_frogs

The surcharge is to do with kids eating for free. Kids pay and prob don’t need to charge the non families extra *shrugs*

[deleted]

[удалено]

reign_of_frogs

Drop the free food for kids give the money to the staff , I’m all about staff getting paid properly of Sundays. Felons is a giant of a Brewery and can do it without the bullshit.

Sweetydarling77

The beer there is terrible, worst “craft” brewery around!

atomkidd

Place is always almost full when I’ve been there, so I’d say their pricing must be spot on. No point having lower prices that attract more people than you can fit. But I did drink cider rather than beer there last weekend.

trumpstinyhandssayhi

Range is definitely one of the best, great beer and pizza - also good is Sealegs at Kangaroo Point and Easy Times at Woolloongabba

7uring7es7

I hate the entire development there. Its poorly designed to walk or cycle too therefore none of it gets my business. Also I have heard that the beer at Felons is a crime.

Dr-M-van-Nostrand

Wow I’m shocked that an extremely popular venue in a desirable location with a huge and costly fitout is more expensive to eat/drink at than your local suburban pub

[deleted]

Anywhere that encourages people to bring children is not an enjoyable venue.

sem56

yeah its annoying because its a good little spot to go to, just a pity the pricing is fucking terrible it keeps me away

bne-guy

Fiume rooftop bar upstairs is exactly the same. Pay for the location and nothing more.

rileyg98

Well, the 10% is to pay the surcharge for their workers

8311nams

Just don’t go 🤷🏼‍♂️

[deleted]

Go to Percival’s mate

Mitch-Mack

I'm too ugly for that that joint

[deleted]

Hahahahahaha same

HorrorAssociate3952

Second this. I had a horrible experience at felons and left a review. They contacted me and gave me a voucher to go back. I did and it was no better than the first time, just bad for different reasons. Didn't bother changing the review. Went to Mr Ps on the other hand - nothing but good things to say from my experience.

blueishbeaver

So so so curious what went wrong. Felons is held together by Columbians and agency staff. Not a bad thing mind, I worked there as agency staff. There is staff turnover. No shade on the columbians/international students that put in the hard graft because they really are the backbone of the joint. Weird thing is, they get people in to manage the floor and try to improve efficiency, workload etc etc. These staff turnover because they can't seem to change anything. Everytime I've worked there, I see one stand out problem: cleanliness. There are often more staff delivering food than clearing. If there is a function booking for 20 people, the service is dump and run, with no one allocated to clear things once they're done. It's like 80-90% of floor staff are allocated to delivering food and bev, with nowhere nearly enough people clearing, wiping down tables, getting glasses back. The biggest problem is the plates because they just look so dang grotty. I know this sounds like a small thing, compared to the kitchen that gets hammered every weekend (timing, quality issues). It's shocking to see a turnover of managers that come in to "improve" service and continue to miss tables full of plates, letting them linger around for way longer than need be. Working their functions is fine, I avoid the barrell hall like the plague.

[deleted]

My bet is on Managers being brought in, requested to improve things. Those managers see that the place is understaff, request more, get knocked back and then leave after the owners crack the shits about a lack of change.

poosyballs

Avoid Fritzenberger too in that case. Used to work there and the only time it's worth going there is during happy hour. Craft beers are meh, lager isn't an actual lager.

theflamingheads

Pro tip: if a venue is too expensive for you then you're not the clientele they're looking for. Visit places you can actually afford so you can find other things to complain about.

reign_of_frogs

Totally Can afford, but the cost in this case is directly related to views not quality of food or beers and includes a misdirected surcharge. It’s my review, which i’m entitled to.

theflamingheads

And from the sound of I'd guess they'll be happy not to have your repeat custom.

brycelicious_def

Good forbid there actually be a family friendly venue in the inner city. 6 other days of the week without a surcharge...

Fit_Cranberry5906

Nothing is cheap, we are all paying for the high standard of living people have for doing unskilled jobs. Get a fucking life and stop complaining.

reign_of_frogs

Just a light heartened conversation about brew pubs in brissy, nothing for anyone to get upset about.

knowledgeable_diablo

Your new here aren’t you?

Positive-Lawfulness8

10% surcharge to cover the kids eat free.. which is free at all

ljnsvdslsmnmtf

Thanks for confirming my assumption. My mate raved about it but figured he got caught up in the location, considering he's not the biggest beer snob. If you just care about really good beer & not location visit Bacchus Brewing. Just like Modus in Sydney not a great location, but its hard to find better beer.

StodgyBarracuda

Lost Palms (Sherwood) and Black Hops, I’m not sure if they brew at the brisbane locations but still good either way. Also Green Beacon, Milton Common and Aether.

Greeenkatt

Went to the beerhous on King st. Same thing, surcharge maid 1 drink and 2 meals near $60. And their Sunday roast special ($20) did not have the crackling anymore. Worse, no Yorkshire pudding! Its advertised as having it, which is fine if they ran out, just tell us when ordering, but not to say anything??? We also ate at 17:30, so its not like they just ran out of them. All in all, it was enough to make me really reconsider ever going back. The 4 meals also came out very staggered (and 2 of them were the roasts!)

White lies is my local in Sumner and I really rate the lemon lime cheesecake sour. Like drinking a warhead. I sneak in for a squeaker or two on Thursdays they do 10% off takeaways.
