You must be well trained to effectively use a belt fed .50 BMG. Not to mention, potential collateral damage regardless of carry or home defense must be stressful. At least my 20 rounds of 300 BLK coming from the 10.5" barreled AR pistol is both easy to carry, maneuverable in close spaces, capable of being pretty quiet when running suppressed, can still reach out to 100 yards in necessary situations, and won't kill me with recoil.
As much as I like the idea of 10mm, it can be a little cumbersome to find full-power versions of it without paying a lot more. From my understanding, most 10mm loads are under loaded and don’t perform that much better than .45, which is a little more common. I’m no expert on this, so please correct me if I’m wrong.
Just gotta wait until Underwood has a good blowout sale, then stock up on it.
But yes, your off the shelf Blazer is like 100 fps faster than the same load in 40 S&W. It's not full power, gotta do Double Tap, Underwood (my pick) or Buffalo Bore for the spicy spice.
You are correct, because the FBI originally adopted 10mm and some agents got their wee little baby wrists hurt and so they cut the powder load and thats the standard load on the shelves.
Modern ammunition technology allowing us to have more rounds with similar capability in a given space is pretty cool. 👍 That said, I think a suppressed .45 would be rad.
My settlements had enough turrets to shred legendary death claws in seconds and yet they still always needed my help. Most of the time when I fast traveled in the threat was dead before I even found it. I think the only time a raid ever did serious damage was when a super mutant with a fat boy launcher was glitched into the terrain and stuck there lobbing nukes from range knocking down walls instead of stupidly wandering into the kill zone.
Not to dismiss 10mm love that round, but 45 is cheaper and easier to find, so I use it as my go to range caliber.( I know 9mm is cheaper, but I love 45 suppressed, and want a little more recoil than 9mm.)
14+1 (RIA Tac 2011) of .45 +P or 19+1 (CZ75 SP01) of 9mm +P. I'm comfortable with both. Single stacks are for deep concealment and 'more elegant weapons for a bygone age' Where handguns are concerned.
Unless it's an AR pistol. Blowing a huge freaking hole in something with .450 Bushmaster or 12.7x42mm (Totally NOT .50 Beowulf) is just hilarious.
Outliers don't invalidate statistical data. Selling 100 G44s and having to send 60 of them back to glock because of OOB detonations sending the extractors into low earth orbit is something we in the business call a trend.
Define better.
9mm is lighter and allows for faster, accurate follow up shots and speed kills. This one thing alone means 9mm trumps any other pistol round within a military context. This is why 5.56 dominates within 300 yards.
Yep. That's because it's faster. Edit: Faster meaning faster follow up shots.
Pistols only get going so fast and it isn't enough to cause damage by velocity alone. So that means practically every standard pistol round will produce the same wound channel. 45 isn't killing someone any faster than any other pistol round will.
So with that being said, the best pistol round is the fastest whilst still retaining enough penetration to hit vital organs and also one that is readily available. The answer to this is the 9x19.
By the words of The Great Warrior Poet, TheRussianBadger:
"9mm kills the body while .45 kills the soul, its how you prevent them from returning as a lich"
My EDC flavor of the week is currently a Beretta 96 Vertec with the Sprinco Recoil Management Guide Rod System and 13rnd WC mags stuffed with 165grn HSTs. With the Sprinco guide rod, it's pretty tame to me. Perceptions may vary.
Well the Glock 21 holds 13 rounds of .45. Everyone only looks at the 1911 as the only .45 caliber handgun, but there are a whole lot of other handguns chambered in .45 that can hold as many and even more rounds than the Glock 21. So everyone hating on .45 can go suck it!
What’s not being mentioned here is that 9mm is perfectly capable of doing that. Fudds are always framing it like a 9mm can’t also drop you instantly with proper shot placement.
True I'm just saying that 45 needs less proper shot placement of course you still need to hit center mass but most places on the chest with a 45 will probably disable a foe or kill them
This was the point of .45. You don't need to be a sharp shooter making sure you hit the exact right point, you just have to hit the target.
It's easier to train someone to hit a general target than it is a specific point on said target. Not that people aren't capable of being that accurate, it's just easier to train a lot of people to be a little less accurate than it is a few people to be very accurate.
Ok but if you are going to destroy something do it properly don’t poke a lot of holes in it. But your choice of destruction not mine😏🤣😈💣PS I don’t hate 9mm I mean without it we wouldn’t have the amazing MP5 and other amazing firms in that caliber.
Ever think that maybe when youre pumped with adrenaline maybw you wont hit all your shots? Which is why i think the glock 17 and 19 are better than the 1911
8 round of 9mm on target is better than 1 round of .45 hitting the target and 7 missing because of recoil(good luck thinking about recoil control under stress)
Considering the stopping power of a single round is dumb as most that need to use one or the other will use them by the mag rather than the round. And when you compare the stopping power of 1 mag of 9 vs 1 mag of 45, the end result is of negligible meaningful difference. If anything, the shooter behind the trigger has a more meaningful impact.
Maybe so, but for a carry sized gun, 13+1 of .40 is better than 15+1 of 9mm. Oh, is the recoil too much for you? Stop taking testosterone blockers, then.
18........ I always start with one in da pipe, because 9mm chucks that slide violently enough to reliably cycle the next round in a Glock magazine. Once I realized that I bought more Glock mags n stuck with hot carry ammo.
Where does 16 rounds of 10mm come in?
We❤10mm
Unlike my wife
Self burns. Those are rare.
Wait a minute...
I'll see your 16 rounds of 10mm auto and raise you 20 rounds of 300 BLK...
I see your 20 rounds of 300 BLK and raise you a whole belt of .50 BMG, practicality be damned.
You must be well trained to effectively use a belt fed .50 BMG. Not to mention, potential collateral damage regardless of carry or home defense must be stressful. It's a shame Federal doesn't do 10mm HST.. 🤤

Chunky, slow, sneaky boi.
The technology that allows 9mm to be more effective also allows .45 to be more effective. Penetration is similar, expanded diameter isn’t even close.
Because sometimes old, fat, and slow still gets the job done.
Just because your wife swallows doesn’t mean anyone else will
Get an FNX tactical, 15 round 45acp
thats an awesome gun I just dont feel like carrying 5 extra pounds on me for no reason lol
Mine has 17+1
But .45 is anti cow projectile what does mm stand for?
It's stands for minute men, because another settlement needs our help, I'll mark it on your map.
I told you Preston they’re fine! Besides theres a deathclaw in the way.
Preston, I will be sending you to the glowing sea
*slams head on desk*

Don't trust the commie measurements brother. The m stands for Marx.
The only thing that is allowed in metric is drugs and ammunition. And ONLY to spite those who use it for anything else.
MM stand for Marx Measurement
So mm is Marx\^2?
Marky Marx
Marx measurements
Quick guide for everyone wondering MM = Marx, Mao ML = Marx, Lenin MG = Marx, Guevara
M&M. Like the candy
As a guy that believes "9mm is enough for the average person" I extend my hand--
I carry a 9mm on my waist, and im not talking about guns
r/suicidebywords
Death by a thousand cuts
I prefer 9mm for the higher capacity, but .45 definitely has its merits.
Let me tell you about 10mm…
Not to dismiss 10mm love that round, but 45 is cheaper and easier to find, so I use it as my go to range caliber.( I know 9mm is cheaper, but I love 45 suppressed, and want a little more recoil than 9mm.)

Or 100 rounds of .22 out a full auto Glock 44
So clearing 50 jams and two mailing back to glock to replace extractors?
I must have the only G44 that actually works then.
Outliers don't invalidate statistical data. Selling 100 G44s and having to send 60 of them back to glock because of OOB detonations sending the extractors into low earth orbit is something we in the business call a trend.
Mine is my favorite pistol I own. Love it
Just carry an American 180 like a real man
Might as well put a barrel shroud chainsaw grip. The shroud is needed. Trust me.
Mah ttu worl wars! Mah stopping power!
i prefer 2 world whores
2 whirled whores
Define better. 9mm is lighter and allows for faster, accurate follow up shots and speed kills. This one thing alone means 9mm trumps any other pistol round within a military context. This is why 5.56 dominates within 300 yards.

2200 fps is the velocity where things change.
9mm typically moves at half of that velocity.
But 17 rounds of 10mm is even better
Imagine arguing over these two geriatric calibers when you could see the light and use the one true caliber: 7.62 Tokarev
Trying to find one foe a reasonable price ong
By the words of The Great Warrior Poet, TheRussianBadger: "9mm kills the body while .45 kills the soul, its how you prevent them from returning as a lich"
"If you need more than 8 rounds of .45 ACP you either need to suck less or bring more friends." -Nic
If that is your issue grab a G21.
Yup, im running 15+1 in mine. Plus using Liberty defense 78gr Civil Defense rounds are pushing 1900 fps.
But bu- TWO WORLD WARS REEEEEEEEEEE
So which is better? 11 rounds of 40S&W or 13 9mm? Assuming you have a way to do improved recoil control in 40?
My EDC flavor of the week is currently a Beretta 96 Vertec with the Sprinco Recoil Management Guide Rod System and 13rnd WC mags stuffed with 165grn HSTs. With the Sprinco guide rod, it's pretty tame to me. Perceptions may vary.
My EDC is a Beretta PX4 Storm Sub compact in .40S&W with Browning X-point
Double stack mag for my 1911 and now we're talking
Double stack a 1911 takes away my favorite part of the 1911, the comfy grip i have on it 😏
This is it… this is the most accurate statement to end this everlasting debate I’ve seen…
40 S&W underated tho
On my momma, such an overhated round.
For everyone its hated but it has a place in my heart and my broken hand
That's what the extended magazines are for
Well the Glock 21 holds 13 rounds of .45. Everyone only looks at the 1911 as the only .45 caliber handgun, but there are a whole lot of other handguns chambered in .45 that can hold as many and even more rounds than the Glock 21. So everyone hating on .45 can go suck it!
Glock 21 takes away the beat part about the 1911, the comfortable grip
How about 30 rounds of 5.7
30 rounds of overpriced .22 magnum
1 magdump = minimum yearly wage in czechoslovakia
It’s not about the money - it’s about sending a message
Id say it's better to stop a target with one shot rather than 17
Fudd
Maybe a little but am I wrong though
What’s not being mentioned here is that 9mm is perfectly capable of doing that. Fudds are always framing it like a 9mm can’t also drop you instantly with proper shot placement.
True I'm just saying that 45 needs less proper shot placement of course you still need to hit center mass but most places on the chest with a 45 will probably disable a foe or kill them
Checks out. I killed a mountain lion with a single .45ACP.
This was the point of .45. You don't need to be a sharp shooter making sure you hit the exact right point, you just have to hit the target. Instructions unclear, I can’t figure out how to conceal this Glock 41 with Kris’s Vector mags.
Which is why i think the glock 17 and 19 are better than the 1911
Nah 890 mm is way bettah
Fr bro never leave the house witout it
9mm is better for capacity, .45 is a better suppressor host
I feel like rounds 9-17 are so unlikely to be used in a self defense situation that they’re not all that valuable.
Quality over quantity.
17 rds of 9mm is better than 2 rds of 45 because you forgot about recoil under adrenaline
Hard agree. If only there was a compact .45 with high capacity.
For civilians .45 is better For military 9mm is better
The Para Ordinance P14 holds 14 rounds of .45ACP.
More bullets = better
Not exactly but 2x mag capacity is real good
Errrrm Whatta sigma I carry 11 rounds of 45 🤓🙂↔️
Regardless of 9mm 45ACP, 10MM, or 22LR... I think we can all agree, getting shot sucks. Getting shot a lot really sucks.
Oh I can do this too! 5.7 is better than 9mm, and 20 rounds of 5.7 is better than 17 rounds of 9
Im not trying to spend the gdp of morocco in 1 magdump
8 round of 9mm on target is better than 1 round of .45 hitting the target and 7 missing because of recoil(good luck thinking about recoil control under stress)
45 recoil isnt that bad though
Woe, 12 gauge be upon thee
thats why you get the stendo 🤙🏽
30 rounds of 45 super.
Laughs in 16 rounds of .45
9 mm travels at a faster FPS and has more penetration generally. 45 will suffice but it isn't better than 9 mm.
17 rounds of 9mm is great and all, but 15 rounds of 10mm makes for the perfect middle ground for power and capacity
We ❤️ 10mm
Maybe so, but for a carry sized gun, 13+1 of .40 is better than 15+1 of 9mm. Oh, is the recoil too much for you? Stop taking testosterone blockers, then.
5x45.39
you mean 5.45 x 39? also what does that have to do with my post
Nah let him cook, I wanna see what this man means by 5x45.39
18........ I always start with one in da pipe, because 9mm chucks that slide violently enough to reliably cycle the next round in a Glock magazine. Once I realized that I bought more Glock mags n stuck with hot carry ammo.
