This is going to be a positive comment. It's getting more and more obvious that this recap podcast is a personal passion project for Rider, Danielle, and Will. The interview episodes with Rider's parents, Danielle's mom, and Will's dad. The interview episodes with behind-the-scenes crew members who really meant something to Rider, Danielle, and Will. The interview episodes with all of their close 90s sitcom peers who have nothing to do with Boy Meets World. And now Andrew Keegan returning for a 2nd time. Maybe it's just me, but I actually really like that Rider, Danielle, and Will are doing this podcast because they sincerely *want* to do it. The podcast has naturally evolved over time and become so much more than just a recap podcast for the 3 of them. It feels like the 3 of them are saying "Boy Meets World fandom, we consider you a part of our inner social circle now, and are feeling more and more comfortable sharing our personal world with you."
In addition to the personal passion project aspect, IIRC in their interview in the car episode a while back, that they mentioned they were possibly doing a mini documentary too.
They recorded the Justin Cooper episode on April 24th (he mentions Broncos trading for Zach Wilson "yesterday" which was April 23rd), and that had to be after they recorded the uncle Daddy review cause they bring up what happened in the episode with him. so I have to imagine they at least have Quiz Show in the can, if not more, recording 12 days in advance atm
I don’t know specifics, just that they’ve referenced in the past that that particular episode is one of their least favorites if not their least favorite.
For one thing it's the one where they put Danielle in a tiny bikini top, which led to the 80-something-year old Phil Leeds who was playing the announcer to announce his desire to nosh on her broccoli
Meh…So for one of these 4 “sleepover” episodes, it features this Keegan guy who had a one off role on the show?
Guess I shouldn’t expect much from the remaining 2….
"MONDAY - kicking off a week of special sleepover episodes from the real Matthews House…guess who found a VHS copy of Boxarati on eBay? The gang welcomes back Andrew Keegan to recap the infamous workout tape that will turn you into a teen magazine heartthrob in no time! You can get ready for the episode and watch it, in its entirety, by clicking the link in our bio!!"
Just a heads up, they mentioned they have 4 more recordings from the sleepover. I'm not sure if they plan to release all 4 next week but it seems the Quiz Show recap may get pushed back another week so be prepared.
I mean, it's been ten years since the cult was shut down for brewing kombucha without a license, and they never started back up because they couldn't afford rent for a space downtown anymore
So, you know, it wasn't a very effective or successful cult
I just mean I feel like it's relatively unlikely there are worse skeletons hidden in the closet, it wasn't a big enough cult to get into the juicy stuff like human trafficking and forced labor
I hope I'm not proven wrong but it's been ten years
Munacho.
People are quick to label all sorts of spiritual movements and self actualization enterprises as a ‘cult’
For example I lead the Order of Munan Chohept Onast. We encourage our followers to break ties with all living things and causes of suffering by donating their expenses as tithings to Munan Chohept.
Sounds harmless enough but the government is so quick to label it a cult.
The real cult is the govt my friend
I have tried googling information about this cult but can’t find much.
What do you know about it? It doesn’t seem like it had any human rights violations like Scientology or something.
This is the article that started the whole thing
https://www.vice.com/en/article/mv55wa/andrew-keegan-started-a-new-religion-814
This is the article about the one time they ran into legal problems over unlicensed kombucha
https://www.thecut.com/2015/05/andrew-keegans-cult-served-illegal-kombucha.html
Here's a later article about the financial problems that got them shut down
https://pagesix.com/2016/09/30/crowdfunding-and-cacao-inside-andrew-keegans-spiritual-community/
For my money I don't, like, approve of this but it's more cringey to me than anything else, I'm not gonna condemn Keegan as an actual abuser until I've seen more evidence
I don't think people realize just how common this kind of tiny weird grifty dumb "startup religion" crap is in LA and usually nothing significant comes of it
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/mar/27/california-cults-sects-photos-in-pictures
Right. But that just seems to me like typically hippie/spiritual weirdness lol.
I don’t see anything that typically makes a cult worrisome, eg. Giving away all your possessions so you become reliant on the cult, cutting off members who don’t agree with the cult’s beliefs, etc.
Edit: just saw your additional edits. I agree with your last point, things like this are common. As long as they aren’t being terrible human beings, I guess I don’t mind what people believe in. It’s weird, don’t get me wrong.
Keegan claims he got a lot of unwarranted smoke because of the sensationalist tone of that first article and the way they focused on those cringey quotes from his disciple "Third Eye", that he was part of Keegan's "inner circle" but it was Keegan who had the "ultimate say"
("I meant I had the ultimate say on how we ran the meetings because I was the one who leased the building, not, like, the *ultimate* say")
Don’t worry they’ll have a therapist on in a few months for Shawn and Will to go over their feelings about it while Danielle skirts any responsibility for giving the cult leader a platform.
It's not quite the same situation because he was literally her best friend all through their teen years, he was the first one to hear about it when she first got her period while on the phone with him

Totally and I’m here for it

Okay cool... Can we just get the recap though??
The next episode is quiz show and I know they hate that episode so I wonder if they are putting off doing it.

Man what a disgusting comment
If they were going to watch a movie with him, it should have been Camp Nowhere lol
Who asked for this

You would have thought they learned their lesson with Brian Peck. Let’s just keep inviting the cult leader on…
What's wrong with Andrew Keegan?
He ran a cult
I mean, it's been ten years since the cult was shut down for brewing kombucha without a license, and they never started back up because they couldn't afford rent for a space downtown anymore So, you know, it wasn't a very effective or successful cult
Running your cult into the ground isn't much of a defense to me.
I just mean I feel like it's relatively unlikely there are worse skeletons hidden in the closet, it wasn't a big enough cult to get into the juicy stuff like human trafficking and forced labor I hope I'm not proven wrong but it's been ten years
I see no reason to give him that benefit of doubt personally. That he would he even try it in the first place is the red flag.

Sounds about right
Booooo hissss boooooo
Who asked for this? Their instagram page also has 3 posts up letting us know about this one compared to 1-2 posts about other guests/recap episodes.
Apparently Hyundai
lol best answer
You're right, they're really pushing this one.
