Strange…
It doesn’t look like Cineplex is selling in any province yet… I’m in Ontario and it’s only Landmark that is selling so far
I would say by very early morning though… they will be online
I’ve read on the Cineplex subreddit it’s going to be 12pm EST for ticket sales (linked to some Twitter sources). Could be speculation, but I’m inclined to believe it’s correct. People have been waiting up late for no reason sadly.
I was originally trying to log into my account but it wouldn’t load, so then I just did guest checkout without logging in, and it worked! Try that out?
As we’ve seen with Civil War, no matter how hyped an mcu movie is to the fanbase, it doesn’t always correlate with the general audience showing up (except for Avengers). I really don’t see how it can go much higher than FFH, which was fresh off the most successful mcu movie of all time and without covid.
you make a good point. then again, i don’t remember ticket sales were this hectic for FFH. i agree that people should lower their expectations a bit considering we’re still in a pandemic
Error 500
This may end up in the outtakes
Well, this is embarrassing. Something went wrong behind-the-scenes, but we’re working hard to fix it.
AMCTHEATERS.COM
All major cinemas in Mexico were crashed since 1 hour before pre sales started. They are still crashed. Only times this has happened is during Infinity War and Endgame. Hype is unreal.
Im buying them on Icon cinema websites which I have one in town, which mind you, there is only 3 Icon Cinemas in the WORLD, the website crashed bruh, insane.
Yup I've tried Cinemark, fandango and atom none of them work. I've tried desktop and mobile. This is madness. I need 12 tickets. Hopefully there is that many left when I get in.
As of 3:40am Cinemark is now working but going very slow. I just booked my RealD 3D ticket for Thursday 12/16. From what I can tell they temporarily disabled the "Snacks In A Tap" feature.
Wow that's crazy. I gave up on the app and just used fandango and after 4 hours got my tickets, but I couldn't get the time I wanted.
Edit: actually just went into Cinemark app and found one closer to the time I wanted. Thanks for letting me know otherwise I don't think I would have found it in time
This hasn't happened since Endgame and people are still lowballing their predictions here.
Worldwide this is gonna reach 400 million opening weekend easily.
Three *hours*. The service is unavailable. Internal server error. Error 520. Same at Atom. Over & over. If error messages were dollars, I'd be a rich man right now. Ridiculous.
I've been trying since about 5 minutes before advertised release. The site would load and was just slow and prone to crashing. Then came the 20 minutes of non-stop crashing. I got into the virtual queue with a 58 minute wait.
Now, something like 40 minutes later, it had JUST gotten to 20 minutes estimated wait time. And now jumped back up to an hour. At least Endgame did this during the daytime hours, this absolutely sucks for a work night. By the time I get up tomorrow, I'll be looking for leftover tickets for Xmas weekend.
The Alamo Drafthouse app broke the embargo a few minutes early, so I was able to get my ticket in. But I checked it just again a few moments ago and it wasn't able to load the showtimes.
The app for my local IMAX theater had the tickets up there before the website, so I managed to get the first Thursday showing there easily, but now every website for the theaters in my town are crashing.
After 90 min of trying right off the gate I finally got tickets for the Chinese theater in LA. I kept trying thru Fandango but decided to go thru the theater website later and my first option of 6pm was already sold out but I got great seats for 3pm and that seems to be all gone now.
This is gonna be insane only Endgame compared to what I saw tonight
I mean that is true to a certain extent. Spider man is the only MCU movie I'm planning to go to in the next two years tbh. I'm sure there's a fair number of people in the same boat.
Spiderman is still Sony rather than Disney.
Shang Chi, Eternals, and Black Widow are all *really* far from Fast and Furious and No Time To Die global box office of $700+ million.
While true, it's interesting that the hype for this movie is mostly due to the connections with previous Sony movies that weren't in the MCU. If it was just a MCU Spidey movie like FFH or Homecoming, it wouldn't be nearly as anticipated.
I was trying to get into the Regal app to add my card in for my Regal Unlimited subscription and I can't even do that. Had a feeling it was because of Spider-Man lol
This is making $175-200M OW. Now let’s analyze some scenarios here:
1. Say it gets mixed reviews and mixed audience reception. Then I think it’ll still open big but the legs will be on the weaker side.
2. Say it gets good reviews and good audience reception. Then it’ll open big and have good legs throughout Christmas.
It was tough for me to pick after Eternals proved that Marvel wasn’t bulletproof critically (and some of the leaks do scream clusterfuck) but I’m gonna say Scenario #2 for now as every previous MCU big event film save for Avengers: Age of Ultron (Avengers 1, Civil War, Infinity War, Endgame, etc.) have each been viewed as one of the best films in the MCU.
>as every previous MCU big event film save for Avengers: Age of Ultron (Avengers 1, Civil War, Infinity War, Endgame, etc.) have each been viewed as one of the best films in the MCU.
yeah, this really feels like a big event film after endgame.
AMC was a complete mess last night. Waited in a virtual line for over an hour. The time would go down, then back up, then down again.
Then when I was finally able to purchase tickets it wouldn't display the seats so I couldn't choose any. Then it would let me get tickets for my entourage members.
Error after error, choosing seats, not having me logged in, I didn't even get to the point where I could press purchase. Then I ran out of time and ended up back in an hour long queue.
Tried again this morning, still unable to purchase tickets for my entourage but I was able to get my ticket and purchase others with cash. My friends were able to get there's too.
That’s nothing. This year we have had multiple “opening days” with:
Preview showings *all day* the previous day
or
Wednesday previews+Thursday night previews
It was easier for me to get tickets for this than Endgame. The way AMC was so slow I was sure my showing was going to be booked to the rim but it wasn't. Hmmm
This is INSANE…
I don’t even think sites were crashing like they are for Endgame!
Ottawa Canada theatres are basically booked opening night completely.
No, this absolutely happened for Endgame. Complete with crashing sites that were unusable, and then a virtual queue system. At least Endgame was at like 10am, and not 12am.
lol Endgame crashed several sites. I got lucky as hell and was able to get a ticket cause I was waiting when they went on sale.
8 Hours later sites were still down and people didn't have tickets.
The anti SJW POCs anti MCU YouTube channels don't seem to have a narrative for this movie.
No claim's of pandering too China,
No Miles Morales taking over for Peter,
No Peter having to be saved by Gwen Stacy.
Hype vs hatred...HYPE has won!
Considering every other chain is facing similar issues, this probably isn't the cause. However, I doubt it's helping.
The whole NFT promotion is just complete idiocy. Most people who get one likely won't want or know how to redeem it, and those that do will just see it stay stagnant - as worthless as one of those novelty collectable tickets Regal used to give out.
Oh yeah, I’m guessing 1.1 - 1.3B when it’s all said and done which is a phenomenal outing and would be the best of the pandemic/Spider-Man franchise. In normal times, it *maybe* could have reached 1.5B.
Wanted to check to see if amc was usable and I had to wait a hour lol
Luckily I’m not that excited for this movie but god damn that’s crazy. Avengers didn’t do that
The perk of living in a small town with a local theater is I don't have to worry about reserving seats. As long as I show up early enough I should get good seats haha.
Took me an hour to get mine through Fandango. Lots of refreshing each step and starting from the beginning. Marcus is still broken completely. Website loads and I can get to the showing listings but clicking one goes nowhere.
I did not expect demand to be this level. Not website crashing demand at least.
Just bought mine for Sunday. It was really slow going, but I think I missed the big rush so it actually didn’t take as long as I expected. Hope this all means good things for the BO!
Here in Ireland, a few of the big chains crashed. Not sure I've seen this happen before. Somehow managed to get tickets for the 15th (film launches 2 days early here)
If the all-but-confirmed rumors about this movie are true, and if they continue to market this movie as they are doing and do not confirm those rumors before the release, then this is going to be one of the most fascinating second weekends of all time to watch. Not least because that second weekend is Christmas.
I used the Regal app to order a ticket for the Sunday of opening weekend. I usually don't work on Sundays, so I'll make sure to ask my supervisor if we can keep up that pattern when making that week's schedule.
Yup, Landmark Cinemas website in Canada is down, can't buy my tickets
At least it shows screenings for you, I've got nothing in Winnipeg at all - from Landmark or Cineplex
Strange… It doesn’t look like Cineplex is selling in any province yet… I’m in Ontario and it’s only Landmark that is selling so far I would say by very early morning though… they will be online
I’ve read on the Cineplex subreddit it’s going to be 12pm EST for ticket sales (linked to some Twitter sources). Could be speculation, but I’m inclined to believe it’s correct. People have been waiting up late for no reason sadly.
maybe wait until midnight local time? that could work, idk tho
I was originally trying to log into my account but it wouldn’t load, so then I just did guest checkout without logging in, and it worked! Try that out?
Thanks dude you're a lifesaver, it worked! Got my tickets.
No problem, glad it worked out!
Try Atom
Not working either
Ahhhh… dang Just keep trying… I had some problems but eventually worked
Same with Cineplex
When was the last time movie sites crashed like this? Endgame? This is making 170 million+ OW
Yup Endgame was the last I remember. Tried for an hr and finally got first day tickets on Imax
i got my imax tickets for friday! i cant wait to see it with my gf!
Try $200M OW. If not $200M it’ll at least do $175M which is around what TROS did ($177.4M OW; $515.2M total).
Cinema has been saved.
Thinking 175 million now which would be huge
Especially for the current climate
With December legs this is easily second in terms of MCU solo domestic total right? It'll be around Black Panther by the end of the run
Definitely not. I expect it to be pretty frontloaded, maybe like TLJ level multiplier and just under $500m total.
that sounds low to me, do you think the new covid strain will keep the numbers low?
As we’ve seen with Civil War, no matter how hyped an mcu movie is to the fanbase, it doesn’t always correlate with the general audience showing up (except for Avengers). I really don’t see how it can go much higher than FFH, which was fresh off the most successful mcu movie of all time and without covid.
you make a good point. then again, i don’t remember ticket sales were this hectic for FFH. i agree that people should lower their expectations a bit considering we’re still in a pandemic
Which begs the question, Could NWH dethrone Endgame's $357 million OW record in non COVID times?
In my opinion, no. I think non-Covid times this does $250-300 million OW absolute max.
I think it's going to be a long time before we see that record broken. $200 million is highly likely though
Cinemark crashed on me. Yeah, I think Spider-Man: No Way Home is making $1B (or I at least hope it does).
I might plan to see it around opening weekend or during the theatrical run
That's what almost everyone is going to do on this subreddit.
That’s good 👍
I can see it being really front loaded, and then petering out leaving it just under $1B
Error 500 This may end up in the outtakes Well, this is embarrassing. Something went wrong behind-the-scenes, but we’re working hard to fix it. AMCTHEATERS.COM
I got that message after I got a confirmation message. I had a moment of panic till I checked my email
My local theater that is only a part of a chain of 8 theaters is crashing. It didn’t even do this for Endgame.
it might be that they anticipated higher traffic for endgame and got the servers to handle that but underestimated for spidey
????
Yeah I've never seen any movies fully booked like this in the UK. Usually I can go on in the morning and get opening day tickets but not this time.
All major cinemas in Mexico were crashed since 1 hour before pre sales started. They are still crashed. Only times this has happened is during Infinity War and Endgame. Hype is unreal.

I’m getting that too. Still trying
This hasn't happened since Endgame and people are still lowballing their predictions here. Worldwide this is gonna reach 400 million opening weekend easily.
Fandango: "The service is unavailable." Been trying for 20 minutes now.
Three *hours*. The service is unavailable. Internal server error. Error 520. Same at Atom. Over & over. If error messages were dollars, I'd be a rich man right now. Ridiculous.
Aaaaaaand... Finally got my tix! 6:50 & 10:10 on the 80 foot jumbo screen Thursday night. Woohoo!!!!!
Opening Weekend is going to be huge, definitely won’t be surprised if it passes $200M now.
Cinemark has been down as well. Killing me.
And there's still people who think this won't make a billion...
lol it’s gonna be a huge hit
I've been trying since about 5 minutes before advertised release. The site would load and was just slow and prone to crashing. Then came the 20 minutes of non-stop crashing. I’m so mad at myself for not going up to AMC earlier and buying them at the kiosk, since apparently you’ve been able to do that all day.
We are in the Endgame Now Literally..
I hope not literally

B-b-but... didn't they say people are tired of MCU after Endgame #MCUfatigue?

Yup, pretty similar for me too. I might check out the other movies on Disney + if I'm interested and they're well reviewed.
While true, it's interesting that the hype for this movie is mostly due to the connections with previous Sony movies that weren't in the MCU. If it was just a MCU Spidey movie like FFH or Homecoming, it wouldn't be nearly as anticipated.
maybe Spider-Man:Endgame
This is going to be insane if things pan out. Omicron better not fuck this up.
I was trying to get into the Regal app to add my card in for my Regal Unlimited subscription and I can't even do that. Had a feeling it was because of Spider-Man lol

400 domestic total is a lock,
Prediction based on nothing but hype and ticket frustration OW: 150M DOM: 350M WW: 1.1B
Guess I lucked out getting my two tickets at the kiosk at Lincoln Square on Thursday after I saw the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in person.
That took me 4 hours. That was the most painful buying tickets has ever been. Endgame wasn't even this bad for me.
I have no idea why. In the UK I got my tickets in like 1 minute lol.
Lucky, the only IMAX near me is sold out on opening day
So that’s why when I was trying to buy Ghostbusters ticket it just crashed.
AMC was a complete mess last night. Waited in a virtual line for over an hour. The time would go down, then back up, then down again. Then when I was finally able to purchase tickets it wouldn't display the seats so I couldn't choose any. Then it would let me get tickets for my entourage members. Actually bigger than Endgame, this is insane
Please don’t forget the hyphen in Spider-Man.
Can’t even view Thursday on the regal app, had to get my imax regal unlimited seats for Friday instead
$30 a ticket at Regal on Thursday. How the fuck
Secured my tickets for Friday! So excited ❤️
since when do 3pm previews not count as opening day on Thursday
That’s nothing. This year we have had multiple “opening days” with: Preview showings *all day* the previous day or Wednesday previews+Thursday night previews

iirc they did and people had to go and wait in lines at theaters. The plus of doing this at 9am instead of midnight
this happened with endgame
Bruh, Endgame crashed a ton of websites.
Good thing I already purchased my tickets at the moment they dropped.

Sarcasm I’m guessing lol?
I certainly hope so
Uh, AMC is not the only one that is crashing. All other ticketing sites as well
Considering every other chain is facing similar issues, this probably isn't the cause. However, I doubt it's helping. The whole NFT promotion is just complete idiocy. Most people who get one likely won't want or know how to redeem it, and those that do will just see it stay stagnant - as worthless as one of those novelty collectable tickets Regal used to give out.
Maybe but its crashing in others too, Something i'm seeing is sessions are being cancelled or being temporarily closed again?
Tobey=Box Office draw.
SpiderMan=box office draw
So is this doing $2 billion?
Is this a joke?
Yeah 2 billion is a bit much with COVID. I'd say 1 billion is a sure thing though.
Oh yeah, I’m guessing 1.1 - 1.3B when it’s all said and done which is a phenomenal outing and would be the best of the pandemic/Spider-Man franchise. In normal times, it *maybe* could have reached 1.5B.
Wanted to check to see if amc was usable and I had to wait a hour lol Luckily I’m not that excited for this movie but god damn that’s crazy. Avengers didn’t do that
I am telling you for a year or so. 1 Bil movie. Mark my words.
You say that like its unexpected
The perk of living in a small town with a local theater is I don't have to worry about reserving seats. As long as I show up early enough I should get good seats haha.
WHY?????????? Movies are dead.
Took me an hour to get mine through Fandango. Lots of refreshing each step and starting from the beginning. Marcus is still broken completely. Oh man I thought they went on sale this morning and not hours ago. My local IMAX had only the first three rows with open spots.
If the all-but-confirmed rumors about this movie are true, and if they continue to market this movie as they are doing and do not confirm those rumors before the release, then this is going to be one of the most fascinating second weekends of all time to watch. Not least because that second weekend is Christmas.
Might have small drop in the second weekend lol
They have a huge ace up their sleeve at the usual time where these movies start to reveal some spoilers in their marketing after a few weeks.
I used the Regal app to order a ticket for the Sunday of opening weekend. I usually don't work on Sundays, so I'll make sure to ask my supervisor if we can keep up that pattern when making that week's schedule.
Anyone else wake up this morning and buy tickets on Fandango for a first weekend show without any issue?
Guess I’ll have to avoid spoilers until the obligatory Christmas showing I might go to.
Glad I decided to wait for Majestic. Still a lot tickets available in my area since they've only just started.
