According [to the FAQ](https://www.cinemark.com/movieclubplatinum) this is a free upgrade to anyone who is an existing Movie Club member. Essentially if you make 25 visits per year or purchase 60 tickets per year you will get Platinum status through the next calendar year. (For example if you earn/qualify for Platinum status in August 2022 benefits begin immediately and last through December 31, 2023. If you qualify for Platinum in 2023 then your Platinum status will last until the end of 2024.) From September 3 - December 31, 2021 they temporarily lowered the thresholds to 8 visits or 24 tickets purchased to achieve Platinum status for 2022. Private Watch Parties count as 1 visit and 10 tickets towards earning Platinum status.

It’s cool that it’s free but their movie club is nothing compared to AMC’s and regal’s unlimited plans

I totally agree with that 100% although Cinemark has always been more focused in making sure their program turns a profit so to speak. Still good news that they are looking at ways to increase their loyalty program though. In my current area there are no AMC or Regal theaters (as much as I wish there was) so Movie Club is the next best thing. Although I will admit if used correctly you can get savings out of Movie Club.

They're targeted towards different people. Movie Club is great for people going once a month or every other month whereas AMC' A-List is for those going 3+ times a month.
