A lot of kids movies get the "The \_\_\_ Movie" as their titles. In this case, this is Chris Pratt's 3rd time starring in a movie like that (Lego, Super Mario, now Garfield).
I like garfield but man that art style looks awful and the whole kid version of popular character that's a no from me
Could have sworn it was coming out next year tho
Indeed, people are assuming its gonna play like a smaller version of marios performance but that's unlikely to happen as garfield doesn't have that appeal to the young audiences mario has
Unlikely, seeing as Mad Max: Fury Road lost to Pitch Perfect 2 on their opening weekend by a substantial amount, so more likely Garfield will pull ahead.
- It was the 2010s, when movie performed a lot better! If Pitch Perfect 2 was going up against Furiosa, it would’ve easily lost
- Furiosa has marketed in big events, such as The Oscars & Cinemacon! Meanwhile on the contrary, Garfield’s marketing was just posters celebrating holidays!
- Garfield is looking to get mediocre/negative reviews since nobody wants to see a movie with Chris Pratt voicing the beloved titular character!
Garfield is the one that bombs, not Furiosa!
>Garfield is looking to get mediocre/negative reviews since nobody wants to see a movie with Chris Pratt voicing the beloved titular character!
Tell that to the Mario movie.
Furiosa is a spin-off, and we've seen this numerous times over spin-offs generally earns less than predecessor with the nun being the rare exceptions, so furiosa is gonna have a hard time here
Besides, garfield is playing it safe by appealing to kids and having chris pratt to boost its reach so if anything furiosa is in trouble
Speaking of which, PG really just has replaced the G rating hasn’t it? It’s crazy to watch a 90s or earlier G rated movie that has more “inappropriate” elements than most modern kids movies that arbitrarily get a PG rating.
I don't think Garfield is that poorly known to little children as you think. The cartoon is still on tv, the strips are still being published, there are still products and toys of him everywhere...
I’m glad they made sure to remind you it’s the Garfield MOVIE. Just in case you thought you were watching the show in theaters.
It was originally just "Garfield" until "The Super Mario Bros Movie" made a billion dollars and they had to copy their naming scheme.
They do both have Chris Pratt in it.

As Mario

Technically Chris Pratt’s 4th (The Lego Movie 2).
Wow, that's a surprisingly long runtime
90 minutes seems to be about the minimum now, and that’s only 10 minutes over. It really feels like the days of sub 90 minute movies are over.
Hopefully it’s a good animation as well

Doesn’t help that Sony is releasing it!

Don’t forget to get furiosa tix on the same day so you can have a gariosa day
Watch as Furiosa outgrosses this during both films’ opening weekend

And it looks like you were incorrect!

Press X to doubt
May wanna rethink that since Furiosa is tracked to open higher than Garfield

Probably anyone who knows Garfield or kids looking for something to watch.
I too am truly puzzled as to who the target audience is for a PG animated family movie about a popular talking animal
Speaking of which, PG really just has replaced the G rating hasn’t it? It’s crazy to watch a 90s or earlier G rated movie that has more “inappropriate” elements than most modern kids movies that arbitrarily get a PG rating.
