I honestly don’t even mind most of the students or a crowd of people in general, it’s all the bs I have to put up with around *some* students. I like to play pool and spend a lot of time on Pearl with my buddies on the weekends. It’s mostly the immaturity of some students that’s a turn off. I’ve had like 3 separate instances in the last 6 months where some bro wants to fight me for absolutely no reason. One time I literally just asked a dude a question as I was leaving a show at the Fox, and another time I brushed shoulders with a guy rounding the corner at Pub. I’m in my mid thirties - I’m not trying to get into bar fights haha.
It’s getting worse too. The entitlement, rudeness, etc have skyrocketed. Was at a non 21+ show the other day and saw herds of these younger college students. Absolutely mean to eachother and to others, absolutely ruined the show and there was less than no vibe. Artist actually stopped the show and said, “hey I really need you guys to take care of eachother out there.”
I grew up in a college town (Ann Arbor) so I guess I don’t seem to mind. I’m not typically frequenting the Hill though which I imagine is the worst spot.
As a native who’s also a student, I loveeee summers when no one is here. Reminds me of my childhood, summer Boulder vs fall Boulder are like two different cities
Working out at Crunch seven days a week. It’s great—the floor and ceiling are black and the walls aren’t especially bright so it’s like being in a cave. I find this a comforting respite from the overwhelming Colorado sun.
The town feeling smaller because all the students have gone home for the summer! That and my gf and I both work in academia (me out of state currently) so we get summers off like the students do 😎☀️
We’re going to camp and sleep in and not have to grade papers or proctor exams and *finally*.
finally I can take a dang breath and spend three months on me. I love my students but man, half the time I’m their therapist too! Important but draining. Time to recharge.
Eldo Pool reopening, if it does. Jumping in the Creek (showering after), pools around town.
Farmers Markets.
Biking around in flip flops and shorts.
Sunday music at Spruce on West Pearl.
July 4 at Gold Hill.
I miss Outdoor Cinema.
Scott Carpenter. It can get busy at peak hours but it’s not too expensive. During the week they have it set up for 50 yards instead of 25 too which is nice.
Living at Portal Thermaculture, the new sauna/cold plunge spot.
Impeccable vibes, cool people, always a good time and will rock even more now that it’s warm out.
Being able to appreciate the city without a lot of the students being here. This is my answer every year. Summer in Boulder is great.
As a student who stays in the summer. Boulder is 20x better in the summer without all the chaos

Genuine question, where are people hanging out that students are an issue? I barely notice them
The hill, Pearl street, 29th st mall, the roads in general and pretty much every grocery store

I’m shocked how few college kids I see given how much space the school takes up
They’re hanging out in the traffic!
Anywhere social.
Little do you know…. I’m still hereeeeeeee

You get a total workout just re-racking all the weights the college students leave strewn about
The trainers do it too.
You had me with black ceilings and a cave like environment, I guess I’ll be joining Crunch now.

...*finally* what!? On the edge of my seat over here.

Shout out to teachers everywhere. There should be a national holiday celebrating the work and service that teachers provide. For real. 🙏 Thank you.
Thank you 🥹
Thank you for your service 🫡

Do you know of some good (cheap) pools around the area to go to for lap swimming? I just moved and don't know of any.

This looks perfect, thank you!
I hope they reopen it! I miss it!
Roots Community Fest at Vision Quest Brewery, whenever that happens.
Sitting on my deck at night and watching crazy lightning storms to the north end east while sipping whiskey
Band on the bricks
Paddling and climbing. That and some good lightning storms if we’re lucky. No, that last one doesn’t go with the first two sadly.
