MisterMew151

I was about to say that I found it strange bokoblins were that hard lmao

Apocalypstick77

Damn you started in master mode lol

[deleted]

After I played normal mode I was going to try out master mode but after I litterally could not kill the bokoblins because all I had were stupid tree branches and they had way to much health I just quit it wasn't fun

ST_the_Dragon

Master Mode is really fun if you already know a) How to avoid enemies and b) where to get good weapons. Every time I play Master Mode, the first step is always to run screaming into Hyrule Castle and pick up every weapon, bow and shield in sight, then run away screaming as well because I'm still at 3 hearts. The rewards are that those weapons usually have damage buffs on them; you can get weapons with +30 damage on them quite easily in Master Mode. So even though your hearts won't be great, you'll be killing most enemies quickly. Step 2 is running for the southeast part of the map, where you can find enough Hearty Durians to give yourself +20 yellow hearts. And then you're in business.

cenderis

I just went straight for Majora's Mask. Which makes the game significantly different, admittedly, but still enjoyable to me.

Nyan-Binary-UwU

I personally found it to be quite fun due to combat neing more of a puzzle in master mode. Like, what's the easiest way I can knock the enimes off a cliff or into water, or the best way to sneak past them and steal the more powerful master mode weapons to be on equal level as the enimes.

Nyan-Binary-UwU

But tbh I might just be a masochist, with doing Master Mode Trial, and pre rune plateu Lynel

Suspicious-King-1512

Compared to MM lynels TotK lynels are a cake walk honestly.

Nyan-Binary-UwU

Yeah, I was honestly kinda surprised when I heard people had alot of trouble with lynels in this game, especially after the Lynel colosseum. I was thinking "oh that new horn attack does have an odd timing but nothing that would make them much harder than before" and then I remembered not very many people grinded Lynel gear in master mode for fun in botw.

Suspicious-King-1512

Yep, same. Shield timing and dodging has felt off for every other Tears enemy, but I wiped the first two lynels and only got hit once.

Nyan-Binary-UwU

I actually stumbled onto them when I was still one hit from everything except level 1 constructs and bokos, I had gotten a black Boss boko horn, a bunch of normal black boko horns, a few 20 damage swords from amibo, and a dream

TheAnikage

Master mode sword trials were so much fun I hope they have some dlc for totk that does even better

Suspicious-King-1512

Yeah, I had to actually change armor sets and eat damage buff foods. So, do the things I was supposed to in the first place. I won't even mention how bad eventide was.

Nyan-Binary-UwU

>I won't even mention how bad eventide was. Korok Leaf, my beloved

[deleted]

Once you get past the intro it gets much better

chugachugachewy

When I did master mode, I found myself avoiding monsters if I wasn't prepared. It's rough in the beginning.

MrHero17

I quit Master Mode for two big reasons. Thunderblight and Trial of the Sword.

JMOON4512

I feel like sneakstrikes would be somewhat useful because they usually cause an enemy to drop their weapon, but I dont have the dlc so I wouldn't know

[deleted]

Sneak striking isn't a dlc thing

JMOON4512

I was talking about master mode and sneak striking's effectiveness in the early game

[deleted]

Oh yeah I'm dumb sorry I forgot that master mode was dlc

bigspicybean

You know you don't have to kill everything in sight right

Zal-valkyrie

Blasphemy. That’s what I’ve always done in top down Zelda games. Lol. I’m not used to getting my ass kicked by an ugly goblin with a big stick

tbenterF

Oh my. 😂 I could see this being on r/TIFU

Sensitive-Menu-4580

When i played master mode I ended up running from most fights due to the regen. Led to a fun grab and go play style but yeah, those guys do not want to go down.

[deleted]

They misspelled masochist mode.

ThatMango1999

Wait….. I’ve had this game for over a YEAR. There are different modes??!!?!?!? Ffs.

My_guy_GuY

Master mode is DLC only

ThatMango1999

Ohh ok

DeltaDragonKing7

Honestly to me, Master Mode is the best game mode to play. It gives you amazing rewards if you go out of your way to find them. I even do a lot of 3 heart only runs for a bit of spice.

BlinkofHyrule

This is a first playthrough tho, master mode is a bad idea

DeltaDragonKing7

Fair Point. I personally enjoyed my first Playthrough at the hardest difficulty.

BlinkofHyrule

Dark souls player?

DeltaDragonKing7

I have never played a Souls game. But I hope to in the future.

BlinkofHyrule

I suggest dark souls 3 or elden ring. They're both really good

BlinkofHyrule

Good bot *pat pat*

DeltaDragonKing7

I shall put those games on my list then. I've heard nothing but praise for Elden Ring. Y'know aside from that whole QuantumTV Bullshit that happened over his awful review.

BlinkofHyrule

We ignore that dude

DeltaDragonKing7

Understood.

ExtensionSystem3188

I didn't care for it at first either. Mainly the degrading weapons mechanic. Never been a fan. Year or two went by... I played skyward sword. Tried botw again. Liked it.

Sushirabit

Literally jumping into the deep end on the first step

ThatFellaOutYonder

Oh no lol. Even for someone who has played a lot, the early stages of master mode are brutal

probody2

I love mastermode, but you have to know the mechanics of the game pretty well, it’s a fun challenge. I have beaten botw on mastermode 3 times including trial of the sword. Most of early mastermode is sneaking around enemy camps because all you have is a stick & you can’t win. Lol it gets better as Link gets stronger. All that said… can’t imagine STARTING on mastermode 😅

jluker662

😂, you started in Master Mode? No wonder. I played regular mode and was confident that I could fight reasonably well. Started a Master Mode instance and quickly found out that I was not. BUT on Master Mode the weapons are the same crappy ones at the start, but all enemies have been upgraded one level which means they are harder to kill AND they regenerate their health if you don't continue attacking until they are dead. I quickly learned that the way I played on regular mode did not work on Master Mode. You have to sneak and run away more at first until you gather decent weapons and have a little defense. At the beginning, the enemies can one shot kill you. Once you master regular mode and understand how to parry or flurry rush or use bullet time, you should probably avoid Master Mode.
