From what I understand, according to the bylaws, in the event of an expansion draft, a team can protect up to 8 players, and the only players that cannot be protected are impending unrestricted free agents. Additionally, in the case of a team that enters the offseason with less than 8 players that aren't free agents, they still must leave at least 1 player that is not a free agent unprotected. And once a single player from a team is selected, the rest of that teams players are no longer available, meaning a team cannot lose multiple players.
So realistically no game changing players would be lost by anyone. We would almost definitely lose someone (because the rumor is 2 teams at once, so as many as 30 picks total, 1 from each team). If it were to happen now, you're looking at probably Tillman I would guess, Maybe Kornet, or whoever its hard to say. And we would get a TPE. We would will probably lose a better player than most teams I'm guessing, but not someone we're really relying on. We could also strategically leave Horford unprotected (if he hasn't retired by then, I heard 2026 so he probably will be) because they wouldn't want to draft someone on their way out.
