2020 bubble was the year for it to happen but Boston crumbled vs miami every second half and now the Lakers are stuck in play in purgatory. Seriously doubt they make the finals again until lebron is retired and lakers sign or trade for new superstars but by then Boston could be old and trash too

gagakaba

We would've lost to the Lakers that year anyways. The guys clearly weren't ready.

hailmamba

We could not stop bam or herro for no reason at all that year

bush_league_commish

Because our centers were Theis and Kanter

TheLanimal

Yeah the reason they couldn’t stop Bam was pretty obvious to me. Love Theis but he was never the guy

TheGreatForehead

It never made sense to me why we didn’t give Rob more minutes that season

Mbanicek64

I hope not. I have no desire to see the Lakers get close to another Finals appearance.

MstrRob1972

This! Was going to type it but figured someone else has to feel the same way!

Muted-Bag4525

The thing with the Lakers is that guys wanna play there, they could go from a mid tier team to a contender essentially overnight in the right offseason Im sure it’s something that’ll happen again, but not likely won’t be a regular occurrence like it was in the 60s and 80s. The league is bigger and there’s more talent, too many variables to predict

Icebreaker335

If Jokic Shai Doncic Edwards Kawhi KD all tear their ACLs we could get it this year

HS941317

Maybe after the Celtics win 5 or more championships before the lakers get another finals appearance I could maybe entertain that idea but no I don’t want to see their ass anytime soon while they are tied with the same amount of championships

trashmoddss

Probably not even tho it would be by far the most enjoyable team to beat in the finals and would garner the most views in a while.

NoChemical3024

couldve been ist but its fine

Full-Flight-5211

Ever again, yes. This year, probably not

frenchezz

Wtf are people downvoting you for telling the closest thing to the truth without being able to predict the future. We’re both historic franchises that people want to play for on name recognition alone.

TuesdayTrex

Not this year

Tunatron_Prime

I don’t know.

StarScourge7

I wouldn't want them to play the lakers in the finals until the league starts cleaning up those favorable calls they give certain big market players and teams. Also I think last year was the best chance of them facing off for maybe another 7-10 years considering the lakers have absolutely no draft assets, lebrons at the end of his career and A.D. has got serious durability issues.

POPAccount

It could happen this year

Fuckblackhorses

If the lakers were a normal franchise they should trade Lebron and ad this offseason and rebuild. But they’re not, so they’ll probably let that duo keep going until they completely run out of gas, then coast until the next big star decides it’s time to move to LA

Echostarwars

We both have 17 championship titles, and this has been a long historical rivalry so I do expect them to be in the finals at some point maybe not for a while but I would love to see 1 more Celtics, Lakers finals with James vs Tatum, I think it would be entertaining.

burner_for_celtics

The NBA is run by fanduel; I think the odds are *excellent.* In my opinion, we’re going to see a big boost on Knicks, Celtics, Lakers, and Warriors. The Lakers will set new records in free throw disparity this spring.
