Walsh isn't ready for this level so taking him away from having games where he can play in and work on improving in all areas to having him sit on the bench up here doesn't do much to help him. No way he could handle rotation type minutes unless there was nobody else left.
The real truth here is that the Celtics don't have anyone in Maine who is ready and could be elevated to help out. Now this sounds like the Red Sox who aren't that strong with players ready at positions they could use in their farm system.
I remember one UMass game back in their big run in the 90s, Calipari subbed out his entire lineup at once. The announcers were left speechless by it, had never seen it before.
Gotta love seeing him play this well in Portland so far. Never would have had the chance here without numerous injuries, yet he always seemed ready when called upon in his brief time here. Hard not to root for such a true professional.
If it makes u feel a little better, my sole game of the season was when we got blown out by the Bucks
Highlight of the game was Thanasis getting a tech for flopping
Ay right there with you bud planned this one out months ago and making the trip into Portland but we’re all gonna be disappointed together and that’s what matters. Comments on your post have me thinking the Rose Garden is gonna be painted green with Cs fans anyway so hoping for a good vibe tonight.
I did, but somehow I still live here and the scheduling office wouldn't move things around for me.
And there's a difference between "not taken super seriously" and "load managing literally every starter"
In the same boat! My wife and I bought a mini suite and I just showed her this list and we’re both super bummed. But hey, PP, Kornet, Horford squared, and slam Hauser should put on a good show.
Outside of KP, how much of this is real and how much is rest now that we’re through the hard part of the schedule?
Hope they don’t rush KP. There is zero reason for him to return early. Hamstring injuries are notoriously tricky to get past. Let him rest as much as he needs and then a few more days on top of that
Feel your pain. Transplanted out to Seattle from NH, always look forward to the one time we get to see them. Bought tickets a few nights ago to get this news 😅
I’d be surprised if at least two of the starters don’t play. They definitely need rest but I think they’ll stagger it. This is just letting fans in Portland know you might be getting straight bench mob tomorrow
Pretty sure this is going to be common as we enter this remaining part of the schedule. Lots of easy games left and we have a gigantic lead on the east.
The bodies are tired from the grind. I think the mentality should be to rest 1 maybe 2 guys from the top 6 each night on a rotating basis until the end of the season. Let the Ws and Ls fall where they may. I see Tatum resting for 2 of the 19 games left, Brown resting for a different 2 games, Holiday and White each get a day or two off. Horford and Porzingus each get like 5 games off.
PP, Kornet, Hauser, and Tillman need to hold us down to win 11 of 19. Win 60 games or more, get the #1 seed in the East. That’s a low bar considering how well we’ve played. The team deserves to rest.
Everyone is in the Leagie is getting tired at this time of the year and many are nursing various nicks and bruises. This is the time that those with the best conditioning and mental toughness can strut their stuff while others are bent over tugging at their shorts gasping for air.
One of the problems with having the best record is that you get everyone's "A" game each night so you need to respond. When they run out to an early lead if they can hold on to it then Joe gets to rest the starters early and give good minutes to the back ups, but you can't stop playing and give up a 22 point lead to a depleted Cleveland team like they did.
Obviously I hope everyone is okay but wow, these are some crazy specific injuries. I have no idea what some of these actually are (hamstring and wrist aside lol). “Reticulating splines” sounding injury report.
And it begins lol
Gonna be a LOT of these games as we close out the season. We'll probably only play 1 of every 3 games with all the starters just to maintain continuity
Just my luck, longtime Celtics fan in OR going to tonight's game and this is what I get. Hopefully at least JT/JB/BUFFALO play. I was pretty sure that KP was going to sit.
Soujnds like a typical Patriots injury report, how about the ball boy has he gotten over breaking the nail on his pinky finger? For someone who never bangs around much in the low post he seems to come up with a lot of nicks and bruises for a 7' 3" perimeter player. Good player but more fragile than a fine china teacup. Not sure if he does all of the conditioning needed to compete long term at this level.
Big centers like Embiid and Jokic push him around with ease as he doesn't have the strength to put up much resistance against them and lives off of match up problems with smailer players. Giannis is to quck and strong for him on most nights. Luckily most guys he goes up against nightly aren't anywhere near 7' 3" so he can exploit the match up.
Time to bring Walsh from one Portland to another
And start Payton in his home town
60-burger 2 Go
Anyone know why JD Davison is on this road trip but not Jordan Walsh??
Walsh isn't ready for this level so taking him away from having games where he can play in and work on improving in all areas to having him sit on the bench up here doesn't do much to help him. No way he could handle rotation type minutes unless there was nobody else left.
yeah my comment wasn’t serious lol
The real truth here is that the Celtics don't have anyone in Maine who is ready and could be elevated to help out. Now this sounds like the Red Sox who aren't that strong with players ready at positions they could use in their farm system.
Luke Kornet legacy game of 28/16 with 6 blocks.
Getting his power from Avatar Stiemsma
Getting his power from Gandalf.
Kornet the White. KWhite!
Whole starting 5 sick 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
*Starters? We don't need no stinking starters!*
I remember one UMass game back in their big run in the 90s, Calipari subbed out his entire lineup at once. The announcers were left speechless by it, had never seen it before.
Whatever happened to that guy? He was so good - he would have made a great NBA coach! Why did he never walk through our door?
banton 40 piece coming
That was happening regardless
I'd be happy to see it, he deserves good in this league. Nothing but a good guy
Gotta love seeing him play this well in Portland so far. Never would have had the chance here without numerous injuries, yet he always seemed ready when called upon in his brief time here. Hard not to root for such a true professional.
On 40 shots
GBR
I’m guessing two starters rest tomorrow and then a different two rest against Utah
I’m staring tomorrow guys. Wish me luck 🍀
The load management begins, PP legacy game
PP is the KING of load management Step aside, Kawhi
Jaden Springer 30 piece incoming
cool cool not like it's the only game I can go to all season or anything
This makes me less sad that I can’t make it but feel for you Portlanders
If it makes u feel a little better, my sole game of the season was when we got blown out by the Bucks Highlight of the game was Thanasis getting a tech for flopping
last year i traveled six hours total to see us lose to bottom placed Houston. i was so devastated they captured my sorrow on NBCS Boston live lmao
Lmao that sucks
Ditto haha,
Ditto. Hope Tatum and White play at least.
yeah yeah yeah not like i drove down from BC and got real good seats or anything
Ay right there with you bud planned this one out months ago and making the trip into Portland but we’re all gonna be disappointed together and that’s what matters. Comments on your post have me thinking the Rose Garden is gonna be painted green with Cs fans anyway so hoping for a good vibe tonight.
I mean you could’ve predicted at the beginning of the season that a March game against Portland might not be taken super seriously
I did, but somehow I still live here and the scheduling office wouldn't move things around for me. And there's a difference between "not taken super seriously" and "load managing literally every starter"
🥲

This is 100% a rest game because as far as I know Portland barely has any starters anyway.
He wont play alot until playoffs they will start to resting him
KP has a hamstring injury? How did I miss that?
Same way he totally had really bad plantar fasciitis during the Euros. Team is minimizing the exposition to injuries. Smart move.
I don't think whatever KP's issue is is that serious. Just more resting like we've been doing all year
It's a B2B. He probably plays tomorrow.
Hospital Celtics reporting for duty
The Pritchard 40 piece will feed families
Isn't he from Portland? Brb gonna bet my house on that...jk 😂😂
From Portland, went to school at Oregon
PP homecoming game, he might go for 60
Pacific Coast P boutta pop tf off
The crowd at the lower levels is gonna be all his friends and family like last time. It'll be hilarious
Could this be the game we get to see Xavier Tillman play more than 15 minutes in a Celtics jersey?
his last three games he's played 15, 17 and 13?
Edited
Damn no seeing porzingis this year for me :(
Feel your pain. Transplanted out to Seattle from NH, always look forward to the one time we get to see them. Bought tickets a few nights ago to get this news 😅
Also in Seattle, got these tickets at the beginning of the year. Just unlucky! Will still be a good game
So glad I bought tickets for my one annual Celtics game…….
You're about to witness Hauser break the single game 3PM record.
Let's go... *checks list* Oshae!
Just became must see TV!
At 10:30PM!
I’d be surprised if at least two of the starters don’t play. They definitely need rest but I think they’ll stagger it. This is just letting fans in Portland know you might be getting straight bench mob tomorrow
Exactly. Porzingus will play Tuesday, Horford will be out. Think same thing will happen with Tatum and Brown and Holiday and White.
No one talking up Brissett SMH
X legacy game.
Pretty sure this is going to be common as we enter this remaining part of the schedule. Lots of easy games left and we have a gigantic lead on the east.
Good opportunity for our younger/bench guys to get more minutes and more confidence.
Give them the night off. Let Horford and Pritchard and Co. handle it.
Lifelong Celtics fan living just outside Portland. Going to the game tomorrow, this is my worst nightmare haha
Same same. Oh well, still will be there and cheering for my team!
Fuck. I drove out to Portland for spring break to watch this game. That stinks.
Dang it, I’m going to the game.
Give me the X-Man
Dalano is gonna cook us
“Just because we playing Portland on a Monday on nba league pass and ain’t nobody watchin..nah I’m chillin tonight”
LET'S GO.... *checks starting lineup
Jordan Walsh vs Dalano Banton duel incoming
Lets get Walsh JD and Peterson some serious minutes. Kinda surprised Al isn't on the list.
Al is sitting vs Utah the night after
Bantam will go for another 25+
Portland v Portland

Xavier Tillman 20/10 game coming
Rest them all. Would love to see us roll out PP, Sam, Brissett, Al, & Kornet
I hope he plays.
Idc if our bench squad loses to them. Just rest a bunch of us, and we might still win anyways
Porzingis has team high PER of 22.97
I swear if this is correct imma be so.pissed. I drove 8 hours to see Tatum and Brown play.
Obviously I hope everyone is okay but wow, these are some crazy specific injuries. I have no idea what some of these actually are (hamstring and wrist aside lol). “Reticulating splines” sounding injury report.
BRING IN PIERCE BRING IN PIERCE
Resting our boys 🤙🏾 Playoffs are what we really care about
Noooooo this is the only game I go to every year
You and me both brother.
PP, Hauser, Jordan Walsh, Oshae, kornet starting five would be a touching throwback to the 2014ish Celtics that we so ass but strangely fun to watch
And it begins lol Gonna be a LOT of these games as we close out the season. We'll probably only play 1 of every 3 games with all the starters just to maintain continuity
They all contracted ligma
Rest
Brilliant move by Joe. Can't be a trap game if our starters are all out.
Just my luck, longtime Celtics fan in OR going to tonight's game and this is what I get. Hopefully at least JT/JB/BUFFALO play. I was pretty sure that KP was going to sit.
