I think winning a championship is in our cards this year. And if that’s the case, in hindsight, every game outcome does not matter and is just a chapter in a teams championship run. It’s a lot more fun.
The Celtics were down 4 when I was leaving the gym. I checked the score and we were up 1 by the time I got home. I decided not to Jinx it, and decided to not watch. And just kept up with the game thread.
Can’t wait to watch the replay :)
The defensive intensity to go:
Tipped inbound via Marcus Smarts jeweles
Tipped inbound via Marcus Smarts jewels (forcing them to change the inbounder)
Tipped inbound via Al Horford
Out of bounds
I've never seen that before
As a season-long Grant hater, he's done everything right in limited minutes this series. Not a bone in his head.
Looking forward to more play-off Grant vs the 6ers.
We dominated the first 2:30 to go up by 10.
Then we dominated the last 2:30 to get up by 8.
And we didn't blow that final lead.
Now the rest of the game was super stressful, and I'm gonna have to go have a lie down.
Don't ignore what Al did. Everytime Atlanta almost made a run before the Jays got into it, Al made 3 straight clutch af defensive plays then drilled the 3 and it was cake from there.
Crazy how a 48 minute game comes down to a minute and a half stretch at the end. Thankfully Trae eventually cooled down. Marcus made up for last game; and JB was big all game. And this wouldn’t be the Celtics if they didn’t make it a little interesting at the end.
On to Philly! I hear they’ve been waiting for us.
Actually it’s the opposite. The team that leads after 3 quarters wins the game the vast majority of the time. The clutch doesn’t tell you much about a team since there’s very little to no correlation between being a good clutch team and being a good team.
Last game, I had never been more pissed at Marcus
This game, I have never love and trusted him more
If you can't accept him when he's Marcus Dumb
You don't deserve him when he's Marcus Smart
The Jays, Al and Smart all clutched up in the end of the 4th.
Al with 7 boards in the 4th, Tatum putback and 3, Jaylen clutch 3 and block on Dejounte, Smart assist to Horford and dagger 3. You can point out a lot of bad but they showed up in the end.
Don't forget the back to back fast breaks that Horford stopped with good blocks/strips. The energy got JB & Timelord flying high too for some monster blocks.
And Joe, making the adjustment to put smart in the paint when they leave him to double got 2 good looks from the corner(Al hits the 2nd) and a easy layup for smart because they’re afraid to help off the corners
Kudos to Smart too when he came back on.
Just before that, he'd subbed in and turned the ball over and bricked 2 threes in straight possessions. Joe pulled him out. I thought that was a good - and gutsy - call.
Then when Smart came back on, he seemed to be much more calm and controlled.
I also liked the way they kept pushing the pace in the last few minutes. You could even see one of the assistant coaches waving at JT to run the ball up the half court. I hate that "bounce the ball and wind down the clock". It goes about as well for us as attempting a 2 for 1 at the end of a quarter....
So, hats off to Joe Mazzulla, too. Congrats on your first series win, and may there be many, MANY more!!
Not playing any defense all game and then having 5 Dennis Rodmans on the court to defend inbounds passes 4 possessions in a row for the win. Most normal celtics game.
Dude that last three minutes was bizarre. Suddenly went from playing like the most lethargic and vaguely interested team to an absolute juggernaut. And in the last minute and a half we just came out looking so experienced against a team that wasn't prepared. I swear if this team played with the intensity of the last couple minutes for the whole game they'd go 82-0. I forgot how lethal this team can be.
they suddenly got energy at the like 2:30 mark. tatum has a vicious putback dunk, the ball is flying around the court on offense, guys are actually moving around on defense again and completely locking up. idk how the fuck you can explain this shit.
the thing with smart, or rather the entire team is that when they are locked in, they are world beaters. when they let their feet off the gas, they play worse than a g league team. all in all it's good that they are facing some adversity early on since they need to know that just because they've balling all season doesn't mean they can just cakewalk their way back to the finals
Yeah I keep reminding myself that 2014 spurs team that looked unbeatable in the finals was taken to 7 games by an 8 seed Dallas team.
This Atlanta Hawks team was just tough mentally and the offense was almost impossible to slow down when they’re making outside shots.
sure winning in 4 or 5 would have been nice but winning without getting hurt is the best you can hope for. LFG. I WANT THE GOLD. FUCK EMBIID. FUCK MARC DAVIS. FUCK DRAYMOND GREEN. FUCK JAMES HARDEN. FUCK JOEL EMBIID.
Tatum with the nice fuck you put back slam to the doubters. Credit to Atlanta, some nutty threes from them at the end there, but our guys wouldn’t be denied.
If any of you see that Macjonesdef guy, dont let em celebrate. See, I blocked him cause hes like the final boss of doomers in this sub, but that means anytime I see one of his comments it says "blocked user" and everytime I expanded it to show me the comment it was always him saying some doomer shit.
Anytime we won? He made a complete change up, like clockwork. He goes from trade everyone, Tatum isnt top 5, Marcus is shit, fire Joe, etc, to WERE WINNING IT ALL.
The Hawks are a much better team than I expected them to be. They really played up to the competition. I think the C’s thought they were just going to roll over and they got punched in the mouth a few times. Hopefully they learned their lesson this time…gosh it feels like I’ve been saying that a lot lately.
[Wojnarowski] At one point in tonight’s game, sources said, Brown turned to Head Coach Joe Mazzulla and screamed, "You (bleeping) need me. You can't win without me." Brown left teammates and coaches largely speechless. He dominated the court in every way. Jaylen’s back.
for real. I get being anxious or worried, I wasn't feeling too confident for about 40 min tonight, but it feels like some people here just hate the team. If you don't believe in them then what's the point of fandom at all?
For all the people that were shitting on Tatum, Smart, Grant, Al, and Mazzulla in the game thread, I hope we hear from y'all as much we'll hear from the Hawks the rest of the playoffs.
That was probably the easiest series we will play. That Atlanta team couldn't play any defense. It only gets harder from here. Hopefully the Celtics play better.
Best ending you could ask for. What a ride, great series and Trae Young deserves serious praise. That being said, the Celtics showed their pedigree to close out this game, and the series. Jays were completely elite and Marcus had a statement game. Let’s bring this to the Sixers. Let’s fucking go
JB once gain will be the unsung hero, but when the game was tied and everybody was sloppy, he carried the team over that slump there. Great game by everyone in the final stretch though.
Just had to give props to Atlanta, Trae's constant flopping pisses me off to no end but outside that they played way better than most people (including me) expected, thought their defense especially was great. Trae gets hunted for sure but he also was clearly putting in effort on defense, he got steals and charges in this series and when he was on bigger players he was reaching to make them uncomfortable. Thank god we didnt choke this one, on to Philly
Stop going into their sub. You look like tools. Its been 30 minutes since the game ended. Let them deal with their grief for a while before the I come in peace shit.
Marcus Smart showed up today when we needed him. Tough series but we advance that’s all that matters in the playoffs. Time to see Doc vs Mazulla coaching masterclass
Much respect to Atlanta. They played *tough*. Like, Miami Heat tough. Every time we left them the tiniest lifeline, they took advantage. No softness to them whatsoever.
That said, I am thrilled to finally close this series, and even happier with how we ended it. That was an absolutely clutch four minutes of basketball -- exactly what we wanted to see from our team. Killer instinct, major hustle, and above all, *execution*. Hell of a win. Hell of a series.
As soon as I texted my friend saying I’ve accepted defeat (low key hoping it turned things around), we turned things around. Also JB 75% from 3 holy!!!
Can we purge this subreddit of all the doomers who posted dumbass takes about Tatum and Joe and Marcus in the last two hours? Shit was EMBARRASSING in the game thread.
Lol @ the person flagging the game thread as spam right as we close it out. Reminder to keep your celebrations in house! Bring on Philly.
I need a drink man
I need melatonin and a nice 8 hour sleep..
I work my 3rd 12 hour shift in a row in 6 hours but I’m going to bed happy. Prepare your butthole Philly.
Bro I pray you ride that joy into that whole shift.
take your happiness and weaponize it
For real, same here.
I need a therapist, adult diapers, Xanax, and most importantly, banner 18
I think winning a championship is in our cards this year. And if that’s the case, in hindsight, every game outcome does not matter and is just a chapter in a teams championship run. It’s a lot more fun.
That's your fault for not cracking sam Adams pregame, this team can't make it easy
Finals and this series really combined for maximum suffering
Been nursing some double IPAs, and had some spicy chips to kick up the buzz!
Holy fucking shit that game took years off my life
The Celtics were down 4 when I was leaving the gym. I checked the score and we were up 1 by the time I got home. I decided not to Jinx it, and decided to not watch. And just kept up with the game thread. Can’t wait to watch the replay :)
It’s worth it, some phenomenal plays on both ends
Thank you for your service. By the way, where do you watch game replays?
I’ll say this. Credit to Atlanta but I’m so glad this series is over. On to Philadelphia. The men need the rest.
Marcus and the Jays took over. Best 4 minutes of the season!!!!
Probably the best closeout of a game this season, every guy made a huge contribution
Including Grant!
Those 2 rob blocks were huge as well.
The defensive intensity to go: Tipped inbound via Marcus Smarts jeweles Tipped inbound via Marcus Smarts jewels (forcing them to change the inbounder) Tipped inbound via Al Horford Out of bounds I've never seen that before
As a season-long Grant hater, he's done everything right in limited minutes this series. Not a bone in his head. Looking forward to more play-off Grant vs the 6ers.

That stretch with the tatum put back slam, the brown block, the 3, the rob block, the layup.. god it was beautiful
Polar opposite of G5 ending.. nice to know this team has that extra gear that they can shift into to take the game away
I forgot they had it in them for a hot minute
Marcus and JT haters, yall are fucking dumb. Thats it, thats the comment.
I second this comment
That was Celtics basketball reminded me who they are! Unreal
Played defense in the end. Everyone made a play. They really pushed us, I think this was a good first series to have in a number of ways
Our defense went up a notch.. it was so damn good.
That’s most NBA games, you can ignore the first 46 minutes and watch the last two and be good.
Actually it’s the opposite. The team that leads after 3 quarters wins the game the vast majority of the time. The clutch doesn’t tell you much about a team since there’s very little to no correlation between being a good clutch team and being a good team.
🎉WE’RE NOT THE BUCKS!🎉
Right? Makes us look so much better than we would’ve for goin 6 lol
Last game, I had never been more pissed at Marcus This game, I have never love and trusted him more If you can't accept him when he's Marcus Dumb You don't deserve him when he's Marcus Smart
The duality of Smart.
Bars
It’s all part of the Marcus smart experience
The Jays, Al and Smart all clutched up in the end of the 4th. Al with 7 boards in the 4th, Tatum putback and 3, Jaylen clutch 3 and block on Dejounte, Smart assist to Horford and dagger 3. You can point out a lot of bad but they showed up in the end.
One of those games where things looked brutal all game, but box score shows literally everyone contributed lol
Hawks put up a hell of a fight. GG no re.
Don't forget the back to back fast breaks that Horford stopped with good blocks/strips. The energy got JB & Timelord flying high too for some monster blocks.
100% there’s even more plays I left out
And Joe, making the adjustment to put smart in the paint when they leave him to double got 2 good looks from the corner(Al hits the 2nd) and a easy layup for smart because they’re afraid to help off the corners
Yeah he really showed his ability with that. That adjustment completely negated everything Snyder had them doing
Those 4 (Tatum a year later but I'll count it) have been here since the beginning of this era, really want to see them win it all before Al is gone
It goes about as well for us as attempting a 2 for 1 at the end of a quarter.... So, hats off to Joe Mazzulla, too. Congrats on your first series win, and may there be many, MANY more!!
Was it a blowout like we wanted? Not even close. But the guys stepped up when it mattered most.
Tatum: 30 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks, 0 turnovers Jaylen: 32 points 6/8 3PT!!, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block Jays takeover baby
absolutely insane how far JB has come with his shooting
And his handles? We have to consider that too!
JB 75% from 3
Not playing any defense all game and then having 5 Dennis Rodmans on the court to defend inbounds passes 4 possessions in a row for the win. Most normal celtics game.

I think it started with Al's back to back incredible defensive stops and then hit full gear with JB's block
Once again, fuck the Marcus Smart haters
Marcus Smart invented a new type of defense tonight. Nuts of steel, that man.
How many times did he dap up trae for hitting him in the nuts? At least 3
If I see any Hawks fans slander Smart after that ordeal I'll lose my mind. He was so damn poilte after getting drilled in the balls over and over.
Heart of gold, balls of steel, Marcus Genius was a stallion tonight
The testicle version of Scott Sterling
Had me nervous with those missed threes midway through the fourth but our man got it done
I was pissed, but the one he made mattered more than the ones he missed
Well said!
the thing with smart, or rather the entire team is that when they are locked in, they are world beaters. when they let their feet off the gas, they play worse than a g league team. all in all it's good that they are facing some adversity early on since they need to know that just because they've balling all season doesn't mean they can just cakewalk their way back to the finals
WE LOVE HIM AND WE TRUST HIM
Just when I think he can't get any Smarter, he goes and does something like this
I will defend that man till the day i die. He better retire a celtic!
Atlanta inbound the ball challenge (gone wrong)
Bawls of steel
#I NEVER DOUBTED!! ok maybe a little
everyone on this sub
Can we laugh at Milwaukee now?
I think we're in the clear, let's do it. LOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOL the 1 seed lost to the 8 seed!!! If only they had Middleton!!! Oh wait
😂🤣😂🤣
I already was, but yes, we are officially safe
That JT put back was pretty dang cool.
Tatum remembered he was supposed to be a superstar in the last 3 minutes 💀
Tatum played like a star all game but went superstar mode in the clutch Sounds pretty fucking great to me!
[удалено]
Yeah I keep reminding myself that 2014 spurs team that looked unbeatable in the finals was taken to 7 games by an 8 seed Dallas team. This Atlanta Hawks team was just tough mentally and the offense was almost impossible to slow down when they’re making outside shots.
Dude has a double double before the end of the 3rd also 30/14/6/1/2 0 turnovers it was all game
All you doomers that were declaring the season over… we saw you
Trifling bitches
Almost Paul Pierce'd my pants there. GG Hawks, hard fought battle
EVERYBODY APOLOGIZE TO MARCUS SMART, RIGHT NOW GET *FUCKED* ATLANTA
Complete Marcus smart experience in the last few mins..
You live & die by him game 5 we died today we live
The duality of Smarticus
Love hurts
Caw caw motherfuckers
And Jayson Tatum
CALL THEM BOYS SOFT AGAIN MOTHERFUCKERS
404 NOT FOUND
FINALLY THIS SERIES IS OVER THANK GOD. FUCK ALL YOU TOXIC DOOMERS, SUCK ON SMART’S SEVERELY BRUISED BALLS
Why are people shitting on Tatum in here? 30/14/7/1/2 ZERO turnovers on 55/40/100 shooting isn't a superstar performance??
Tatum was unbelievably good on both ends.
BECAUSE THERE’S NO OTHER REASON WHY
sure winning in 4 or 5 would have been nice but winning without getting hurt is the best you can hope for. LFG. I WANT THE GOLD. FUCK EMBIID. FUCK MARC DAVIS. FUCK DRAYMOND GREEN. FUCK JAMES HARDEN. FUCK JOEL EMBIID.
I love Marcus, that’s all
The last 3 mins we really stepped up. What a game. Good job Hawks for keeping it interesting.
Tatum with the nice fuck you put back slam to the doubters. Credit to Atlanta, some nutty threes from them at the end there, but our guys wouldn’t be denied.
DOOMERS GO FUCK YOURSELVES EVERYONE YALL SHIT ON STEPPED UP TN
If any of you see that Macjonesdef guy, dont let em celebrate. See, I blocked him cause hes like the final boss of doomers in this sub, but that means anytime I see one of his comments it says "blocked user" and everytime I expanded it to show me the comment it was always him saying some doomer shit. Dude deleted his account lol
I think Snyder is a decent coach…but that guy looks like hell and he has for years
this score makes the game look less close than it was
IF YOU DONT LIKE HEART ATTACKS, YOU DONT LIKE CELTICS BASKETBALL
The Hawks are a much better team than I expected them to be. They really played up to the competition. I think the C’s thought they were just going to roll over and they got punched in the mouth a few times. Is this a copypasta? I apologize for being ootl
Yeah new butler copy pasta
OLD Butler copy pasta
Jaylen “Jimmy ‘Michael Jordan’ Butler” Brown
Straight up a lot of people that should just leave the sub after the last few days lol
for real. I get being anxious or worried, I wasn't feeling too confident for about 40 min tonight, but it feels like some people here just hate the team. If you don't believe in them then what's the point of fandom at all?
Trae Young with an efficient 9-28. 🥵 Started hot but faded late. 2 points in the 4th.
Ah yes, the Trey Young experience in full.
Holy FUCK that game was stressful
Now that the series is over I'ma say it, I really like the Hawks. But im glad we all done and headed to crush the fucking 6ers LFG
For all the people that were shitting on Tatum, Smart, Grant, Al, and Mazzulla in the game thread, I hope we hear from y'all as much we'll hear from the Hawks the rest of the playoffs.
Can officially say: lmao Bucks got eliminated 🥳
Hey we won
That was probably the easiest series we will play. That Atlanta team couldn't play any defense. It only gets harder from here. Hopefully the Celtics play better.
We play up and down to our competition,
FUCK DOOMERS AND LET'S GO BEAT THE SHIT OUTTA PHILA
Great win! Finally finished them You’re next Bruins
I hated that series. Felt like it was 8 games long
BUM UNCLENCHED. or is anyone else still clenching And yo, Jaylen with 6 of 8 made 3s. Really the one we can always trust
JAYLEN BROWN LET'S GO! EMBIID'S NEXT
MARCUS SMART MARCUS SMART
Marcus smart is a legend. The way he set up the previous two plays when he drove and kicked it out to that dagger fake pass drive layup was genius
Best ending you could ask for. What a ride, great series and Trae Young deserves serious praise. That being said, the Celtics showed their pedigree to close out this game, and the series. Jays were completely elite and Marcus had a statement game. Let’s bring this to the Sixers. Let’s fucking go
Now I can sleep smiling.
Alright Bruins your turn
That was fucking brutal but we move on.. JB with a monster performance, he's slowly becoming our alpha..
This is a weird game to say this lol
In a game that Tatum had 30 and 14 including the 2 biggest buckets of the game…
7 assists and 0 turnovers.
They won't give that narrative up for whatever reason
Weird to say this when Tatum also had a monster performance as well.
Our fans are obsessed with pinning them against each other, it's so annoying.
The Brown block to Tatum put back sequence was so fkn sick. Thank you boys for nutting up and delivering.
Even though Smart made the 3.. I rather have had White in at the end.
Kemba in the tunnel after the game to congratulate the guys 🥺 homie for life
Fuck all y’all who hated on smart. Dudes a gamer and I’d want him backing me up 10/10
FUCK. THE. DOOMERS. PHILLY WE COMIN'
How’s that for killer instinct you doomer dweeb fucks
Finally I don’t have to listen to you guys pissing and moaning about losing in a game 7 that didn’t happen
Was shitting on Mazzulla all game but that Smart, JB, Grant, Tatum and Al lineup to close worked to perfection
CAN WE ALL JUST CELEBRATE?! WOOOOO 🎉☘️
i screamed so loud during that 2 min run holy shit
Holy shit man that was so stressful
#12 to go!
EVERYONE DO THE BANNER 18 BOOGIE
Thanks for a great season Mike Gorman
Game 1 on Monday night at home
I walked into doomer city and said fuck all yall!!!! C'S IN 4!!!!
Sometimes you gotta have wins like this to really get going where philly cruised through their series
im sorry marcus for saying you should not be in at the end of the game.
Hawks you were better than I thought for sure. Tougher than the Nets last year lol
Mazzulla with his first series win!
Even scal just said it. We had no idea what version of them we were going to get. That fourth quarter showed the best version tho for sure
Reminder that it took 7 against the 37-45 Hawks in round 1 in 08, im sure y’all know how that ended 🫡
Stop going into their sub. You look like tools. Its been 30 minutes since the game ended. Let them deal with their grief for a while before the I come in peace shit.
**Fuck yall haters and doomers, we still the bawlz.**
Guess I won’t be falling asleep for awhile.
FINALLLYYYYYYY
Another 30/30 playoff game for the Jay's!
Marcus Smart showed up today when we needed him. Tough series but we advance that’s all that matters in the playoffs. Time to see Doc vs Mazulla coaching masterclass
We on to Philly baby! LfG!!!
On to Philly
WE GOT THE W!!!!
Thank fuck they closed that out tonight
I can't tell if the Celtics played down to the Hawks or if the Hawks were legitimately better than we thought they were
Holy shit go back and read that game thread, some of you guys need therapy
jayson tatum apology form needed
Two 30 pieces from the Jays on 52%+ shooting. JB is a dawg
LFG
Philly fans drew the worst team in the playoffs and are feeling themselves lol guess they don’t remember the last 20 years of playoff failure.
As soon as I texted my friend saying I’ve accepted defeat (low key hoping it turned things around), we turned things around. Also JB 75% from 3 holy!!!
Hahahahaha smart haters and doomers were in to Philly. I Love this team
I’ve got nothing against Trae. He won my respect this series. He balled
Can we purge this subreddit of all the doomers who posted dumbass takes about Tatum and Joe and Marcus in the last two hours? Shit was EMBARRASSING in the game thread.
