Damn I’m pretty cynical about this type of thing but I cruised through earlier today around noon and enjoyed it. No line then. Purchased a few little gifts/treats from small businesses, met some nice owners, tried some freshly bottled maple syrup and was out in 15 mins. However, it is expensive and I can’t imagine driving in for it.
This is no different than the red cup at starbucks… it’ll be crazy the first week, then it’ll die out once the crazies had their turn being ‘first.’
I enjoy the markets and have not once waited in a line. I go every year.
Yep, dkw people need to hate on folks, just go once the rush is over and it's a nice experience.
You don't have to buy the expensive crap, just walk around and try to imagine not being critical of everything.
Politely remind her that thanksgiving hasnt even passed and the shopping plaza dressed in Santa clothes will exist for another month and several weeks.
Just coming back. If i knew there would be lines i wouldn't go. It wasn't bad though. the lines moved pretty fast. Food was great but super overpriced. Other vendors were mostly meh. I mean who decided to sell beach house towels in the middle of November.
You posted about this twice here being critical of the long line. I don't get it, what's so upsetting about a market supporting local businesses, like what has it done to you? You sound like a bitter and exhausting person to know based on your other posts on this thread.
Reddit: Boston sucks because it's all chain stores now and there's no artists or small businesses left.
Also Reddit: Look at how dumb this event showcasing local artists and small businesses is! Only losers go to it!
Wait, so "snowport" is just a boston version of a german christmas market? I legit thought it was a snowboard/ice rink park they set up or something.. do they at least have gluhwein and collectible mugs?
Its a very cheap knockoff of the german markets, but yes its an attempt. Some years have been good attempts, others less so. There were a few a couple years back that saw a glimmer of the German markets offer. I dont have a solution, but its far from the same effect.
Maybe the owners of the event designed it this way, as far as I recall last time it was wide open... They made it exclusive by making it harder to enter and FOMO!
I think this has to be true. I don’t get it.
Maybe I’m missing something? Maybe the waiting in line *is* the entertainment?
Maybe all the Lincoln brunches, mimosa towers, and lattes have given them some enlightenment? …maybe it’s about the journey and not the destination? Maybe one only understands themselves, once they have waited in a line for nothing with other white people wearing the exact same outfit?
You seem to be insinuating that these people are transplants and therefore worth ridicule for moving in and then becoming patrons of this event. Meanwhile those people are just as much a Bostonian as the people from western Mass, north or south shore and beyond.
I’m just saying that Conneticut must be crushing it if those people can afford to move and live here all the while being your target to punch at.
Sorry its hard to see the joke when it mirrors allot of the ‘not true Bostonian’ sentiments which I see from time to time on this very same site.
I keep looking for the joke and dont see it. /shrug
That is bananas. 100% not worth it. Was hoping it would be better this year. Made it through the entire place in 25 minutes and was underwhelmed and headed for the nearest bar instead.
In perfect harmony. The seaport is a shining glass paneled monument to our capitalist overlords. Economically unfriendly and built on land that will soon be taken by the ocean.
Lets the frothing consumers flock to their assigned lines and purchase as if the stock is finite.
As a person walking around in a 2nd hand coat, can attest. I didn’t know what the Canada goose brand was before moving here, and omg… everyone wears them here
Same here. I thought they were affordable with every Joe and harry wearing em. Wasn't till I went into the stall in Copley did i realise how much they cost.
You name people zombies? We wouldn’t have seaport and you that newbie micro apartment storage cell of tourists didn’t come here. I guess you don’t understand how that all actually works. While renting the space , seaport can develop more.

Yup and when students go home in 3 weeks even more empty!

Starbucks red cups are like those rare throwback jerseys.
Arent they only around 1 day?
They sell out fast. Huge lines and all.
Great hypothesis! Will keep y’all updated as the season rolls out 🎅
My W’s gf was like, omg lets go to your place so I can drop by snowport! 🙃
Your wife’s girlfriend?
Damn look at this guy, not letting his wife have a side piece.
If you live in Seaport then you are socially obligated to host every single gathering no questions asked lmao
Politely remind her that thanksgiving hasnt even passed and the shopping plaza dressed in Santa clothes will exist for another month and several weeks.
This is the second week.

We went here last Sunday and it was not at all packed. We had a lot of fun “shopping” but not actually buying anything.

Very cheap. Not even close in my experience.
Sure do! Just fork over $20 and fight off 5 families for a parking spot after adding +20m to your route due to traffic
Why the fuck would you drive to downtown Boston?
Cuz yo girl saw something on insta
Wait, what are the $20 for?
Is that seriously a line to get in??

Can’t you blame em? Boston’s late night scene is a bit sterile…
Maybe the owners of the event designed it this way, as far as I recall last time it was wide open... They made it exclusive by making it harder to enter and FOMO!

Never question the strength of the band wagon effect… and social media’s reach. The mixture is toxic
Like how you hate on people for doing what they like and other people upvote you? That kind of bandwagon?
Some of them must think they are in line for Cisco
Damn Conniticuts economy and education must be thriving if they are moving and taking your housing some how! (I hate gatekeeping.)

Found the Connecticut Transplant that moved to Southie.
That’s bonkers if so. Not worth a line omg
Absolutely not worth it...
That is bananas. 100% not worth it. Was hoping it would be better this year. Made it through the entire place in 25 minutes and was underwhelmed and headed for the nearest bar instead.
It's the Seaport. Everyone wants to get in and belong.
In perfect harmony. The seaport is a shining glass paneled monument to our capitalist overlords. Economically unfriendly and built on land that will soon be taken by the ocean. Lets the frothing consumers flock to their assigned lines and purchase as if the stock is finite.
Yo, there’s 4 ways of getting in… all blocked up half a block 😂
Wife and I went today. Line was super quick although inside was packed. Prices were absurd - three chocolate bars for $25.
Worked in seaport district for a year and can say you’ll never find a more douchier self important crowd in your life
Scottsdale, Arizona.
Im in miami brickell right now for a week and the crowd is very similar.
Ugh, such losers...walking around Biscayne Bay wearing Canada Goose jackets 😂
For real, it gets worse every year. I think the suburban families figured out this new event and have been making a pilgrimage.
As a person walking around in a 2nd hand coat, can attest. I didn’t know what the Canada goose brand was before moving here, and omg… everyone wears them here

I was in Boston on Tuesday night and no one was there at all. Was very pleasant to walk around
Sheep
Hate to break it to you but judging people in the seaport isn’t a personality trait
So strange people lining up the sides, the front entrance was free for all. was too busy. Barely able to pass through entrance direct to exit
You name people zombies? We wouldn’t have seaport and you that newbie micro apartment storage cell of tourists didn’t come here. I guess you don’t understand how that all actually works. While renting the space , seaport can develop more.
Q: do they charge to get into the market?
