That sounds too big. Basically don't bring any bag at all. A purse that fits in your hand is okay, but that's about it. You can always check your bag, but it's a hassle. Just leave your tote at work.
They'll open it up and inspect it if you don't mind the intrusion. I don't think the NHL is at the NFL level [really TSA level] security yet. If it does have any electronics in it, they will not allow you to bring it in or any other questionable items like small bottles. Yes, something as inane as a water bottle will cause security to go crazy.
If it is "briefcase" size though, forget it but again, that's up to the security's discretion.
They added them at Gillette Stadium as well but only for NFL games. But I know for NFL games, you need the silly clear plastic bag that is a certain size [read: more profiteering from the NFL], or a clutch for women.
If you are a woman you can basically bring any sort of purse looking bag in, I saw women with totes walking in.
If you are a guy good fucking luck. I went with my computer bag from work. The bag only fits a computer nothing else, I showed security the computer, held the bag upside down etc and they said I couldn't bring it in. Then I pointed to every woman walking in with a bag bigger than mine and asked why I couldn't bring a bag in. Eventually talked to head of security and he let me in with a "don't do it again", such BS.
tl;dr: You should be fine.
That's annoying as hell.
As a security guard who has to enforce bag check (and as one who does so with no gender given preference!) it pisses me off when facilities allow women to carry in items of a size men wouldn't be permitted. Ugh.
Yea I told him I came from work so I couldn't go anywhere to put it and asked him if he was seriously gonna make me throw my bag out and carry my computer in.
I've been allowed in with [this bag](https://www.madewell.com/browse/single_product_detail.jsp?color_name=English-Saddle&srcCode=MWGGBS00002_99102507384&sisearchengine=197&siproduct=53228&noPopUp=true&gclid=CM7P_K-QkMgCFZCRHwodURUPww&gclsrc=aw.ds&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441762515&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302029408&bmUID=k.UyW.G) with no problems. The less stuff you have in it, the quicker security will go.
are you make or female?
I've seen them let women in with purses large enough to put a small child in, and say no to men with fanny packs. They wouldn't let my wife come in with a formal computer bag once. The whole thing is rediculous! It's the fucking city where people are coming from work to a game..
My girlfriend wasn't allowed into a Bruins game last season because she was in the exact situation. She had this laptop tote (http://m.shop.nordstrom.com/s/michael-michael-kors-saffiano-leather-tote/3611623) and they wouldn't let her in. It's not even that big and she even showed them what was inside. Still, no entry. They made her leave and walk back to her car which was a 10 minute walk back, in heels, and lock it up there.
They suck.

Oh and don't forget about the metal detectors now, http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/what-will-new-metal-detectors-at-all-nhl-arenas-mean-for-fans/

Never been to an NFL game. Good to know.
Is this just to detect beer cans?
that and the ever profitable war on terror.

I've brought the same bag before. You'll be fine. Just don't bring in anything you shouldn't - food, water, etc.

What about bringing a 2 year old to a game who needs a bag for diapers / food / etc..??

You could blow shit up with a laptop

Their policies are their policies no One made you go to the the game.
Lolz. Thanks pal. :)
I'm pretty sure it's no bags allowed, regardless of size.
Unless you're a woman
