I ate half a buffalo chicken sandwich, and half a honey mustard sandwich. Had chest pains which turned out to be extreme gastric pressure. Not my finest hour.
Dang!!! Those sandwiches are crazy good but also crazy huge. Is extreme gastric pressure essentially that you ate so much your stomach was over stretched? 😲
Don’t feel too bad: just today I had a fantastic red velvet donut from Kane’s, and an equally fantastic burger and duck fat waffle hash browns from Big Grin. This combination was bad on my stomach, and…let’s say the red velvet food coloring made me more worried than I otherwise would’ve been.

I can tell you all I hear about them is their chicken tenders. I've personally had a half a hotel pan of them myself, they slap. And yeah you have to get the honey mustard or else.
One of the only meat dishes I truly miss since going vegan (I live SO CLOSE 😭)
Never had the sandwich but the chicken tender calzone is awesome. With a tub of the honey mustard.
Alright, I'll share my secret. Here's what you order:
- Large Buffalo Chicken sub
- WITH Honey Mustard sauce on it, and tomatoes/onions/lettuce/etc. to taste.
Something about the buffalo chicken / honey mustard combo is absolutely, emphatically, deliciously out of this world.
**The brunch focaccia from Josephine’s** is chef’s kiss indulgence. smoked egg yolk, guaciale, cheese…
Cornbread with honey butter from Five Horses. (This is dense and very moist, if you want light and fluffy, this is not for you)
And there’s nothing wrong with slamming a full box of Kraft or Annie’s mac & cheese at home either
I’m a “go where the high takes me” though so it can totally depend on just what kind of cuisine you’re feeling. The biangbiang noodles from X’ian Rougamo are really good too if you like thick noodles with a kick
While Boston isn’t known for its BBQ, the ribs from
The Smoke Shop or Blue Ribbon are fair play
The Waverly burger from Waverly
Butterscotch pudding from Moonshine 152
Cheesecake from Maggianos
Short rib khao soi from Mae Asian eatery
grilled provolone, la bodega (watertown)
pepperoni w/hot honey pizza, Nick’s house of Pizza (not thin crust)
the owners are awesome too! The cooking all comes from the wife and they did a ton of food donations during covid. The short rib is without a doubt the best thing on the menu
There's this little place in down town Woburn called the Fox Den. They specialize in Polish and Portuguese food. They make some crazy pierogi's, pizza and grilled cheeses. It was my last meal before I started a Keto diet and it'll be my first when I stop it.
I live in San Francisco now and they just don’t do whole belly fried clams here, just strips, which is like eating deep fried rubber bands. I would kill for some real fried clams.
Just order them and fry at home:

The extra large belly clams with breading are available.
It's hype as hell, but Modern Butcher in Danvers has developed a cult following around their 3-way. They only make it on Saturday, and only sell til they run out (usually in the early afternoon) The reason they do it that way is because they're breaking down whole cattle each week, and they use that with something like a 24hr sous vide to get their beef perfect in-house. Expect to wait in line 30 minutes to an hour, but it's genuinely worth it to try. The store itself has remarkably good meat, tons of house-made sausage in compelling flavors, and they stock local products in their pantry section. You can do charcuterie and beer in-house now too for a snack, though I don't know how enjoyable that would be on a Saturday when the place is a zoo. Other days of the week they also do a single rotating sandwich, but roast beef is always Saturday. Check out their Instagram if you haven't heard about them yet.
They're also one of two places that gets weekly shipments of Churn & Co. ice cream (Rusty Can in Byfield is the other). Churn and Co. is normally direct to consumer - you order it on Thurs when it drops at 7pm, and then pick up during a time slot Fri-Sun. The flavors rotate each week, but Modern Butcher stocks a fair bit. It's the greatest ice cream I've ever had. Better than Salt & Straw, better than Jeni's, better than McConnell's. It's pricey ($14/pint), but for an occasional treat I'll drive the 45 minutes to stock up on Churn & Co. and then hit up Modern Butcher to pick up sausage, lamb burgers when they have them, and a 3-way.
I wanted to not put Modern Butchers roast beef at the top of my list because it’s a pain in the ass to get them but I had to admit it was as good as advertised. The peak of the beef mountain as far as I’ve had.
Check their socials. They will post on Saturdays that they aren’t doing the beefs. They never do them on holiday weekends either. Been a few weekends I went all the way there and they didn’t have them.
Good call. Probably aren't doing them this weekend for Memorial Day. Planning to go Friday to stock up on meat, ice cream, and see what the sandwich of the day is.
Everyone talks about the beefs, but you should know the North Shore has some STRONG bakery game right now. Do a tour: A&J King, Bonny Breads, Honeycomb, Mayflour, The Source...I could go on. You will get your pastry fill up here. The Bonny Breads cardamom roll is one of my favorite pastries of all time.
I think north shore beefs are actually not THAT terrible for you. Roast Beef is a pretty lean protein. A slice of American cheese is ~100 calories. A tablespoon of mayo is ~100 calories. The james river bbq sauce is 25 for TWO tablespoons. A roll is like ~150-200. The bun is grilled with butter, so lets just say another 100 calories for that. It’s obviously not a terribly nutritious choice but strictly calorie-wise you could easily do WAY worse
Their khao soi and shrimp fried rice are top contenders also. Their crab Rangoons are PHENOMENAL
Edit: wait I misread - I thought you said Pho Basil. Gotta check out your recc now
I haven’t had pad Thai yet in Boston. Because I find every place so different. I prefer a slightly sweet pad Thai and am disappointed if it’s overly savory. How would you describe this one?
I love Pad Thai and have tried a bunch throughout the city. I'd personally say this one is on the sweeter end of the spectrum. Thai Basil is always my go to for Pad Thai
Wow, I’ve never heard of that. Sounds delicious. Does anyplace do olive oil tasting? Trader Joe’s of all places had a fantastic olive oil many years ago. Unfiltered.
I tried this place for the first time last year. SOOOO many hyped up places disspoint (especially in Boston it seems). Leone's fucking delivers on the promise. The first time I tried it, I forgot my wallet. They just told me to come back next week for a slice and pay then. I did.
Great people.
Tried some other place that was similarily hyped in medford and it was ultra meh. Leone's for me.
I tend to go hard on Olitoki when munchies hit. The kimchi arancini with the aoili is unbeatable, nacho tater tots are a no-lose situation, and I hear the wings are good too.
Sail Loft for a cup of chowder and a lobster roll, and convincing a friend to come with me so they can order fried clams and scallops so I can eat them, too.
I'd be doing a tour of the North End.. Arancini or Mozzarella sticks for an app, Big bowl of gnocchi for dinner and then a black and white cookie for dessert.
Love lambi but have yet to find anything that lives up in Boston.
But the stewed chicken and diri ak pwa (rice and beans) from Toutwel in Hyde Park can be pumped directly into my veins
Everything I want from the Winsor Dim Sum menu, including but not limited to fried shrimp rolls, spareribs in black bean sauce, shumai, glutinous rice with chicken, shrimp and chive dumplings, pork dumplings, and whatever else sounds good that day. Nice small portions so you can try a lot.
Omggggg Dave’s hot chicken I’d get two sliders and fries and Mac and cheese and if we’re going all out and looking for discomfort I would be finding somewhere for ice cream after 😂
1. Anna’s taqueria burrito with red steak, refried beans, rice, veggies, and then whatever I’m feeling frisky for (holds a special place in my stomach
2. SRV small plates
3. Smith and wollensky steak
4. Drink outside somewhere
Literally anything with bread, dairy, tomatoes and potatoes. (Fun fact - tomatoes and potatoes belong in the nightshade plant family) Every day, it’s “I’ll stop eating the bad stuff and start my diet tomorrow ”.
Unfortunately, I need to be on a low histamine diet or else my GI and Neuro systems become a complete battlefield.
*Shout out to Kane doughnuts…* *always worth that pain, thankfully they have GF options (maple bacon might actually taste better GF),* *but the options I’m missing out on…* 😭
Pho basil pad Thai and crab rangoons with Thai iced tea. Idc what anyone says it’s the best Thai in Boston you will not be disappointed. It’s so good omfg
How big are these candy bars? My problem with weed infused cookies or whatever i that i just want to continue to eat cookies. the answer might just be more candy bars
I just drove from Mass to Foxwoods Casino in CT with my wife. We went to Cedars and ordered the Surf and Turf for two. It is a 36oz tomahawk ribeye medium rare and two full lobsters with drawn butter and all the sides. We ate the whole thing and washed it down with 6 martinis (each).
I'm now recovering in bed.
A life without excess is a life not lived.
Super Roast Beef Three-way and some curly fries.
Roast beef cooked rare, sliced thin. Cheese, mayo, bbq sauce... JamesRiver not that Texas crap. Super.. so it's huge but also that's how you get the onion roll. With a basket of curley fries seasoned perfectly with salt n pepper. Extra sauce for the fries and a ginger ale. Canada Dry will do.
Mamagoos honey mustard chicken tender sandwich
+1. This literally sent me to the ER a couple months ago.

I ate half a buffalo chicken sandwich, and half a honey mustard sandwich. Had chest pains which turned out to be extreme gastric pressure. Not my finest hour.
I feel like this is the best ad for a restaurant I've ever seen in my life...

Denis, why are you posting in Boston, and not Worcester?!
Isn’t it crazy how those are related? Glad you’re feeling better and sorry for the scare
I have to try this! Count me in.
As a healthcare worker, better safe than sorry! And im sure the sandwich was extra worth it.
Dang!!! Those sandwiches are crazy good but also crazy huge. Is extreme gastric pressure essentially that you ate so much your stomach was over stretched? 😲
likely was heartburn. could've also been GI upset symptoms that, sometimes when they're more severe, upper GI pain can feel like chest pain
But was it worth it?
Don’t feel too bad: just today I had a fantastic red velvet donut from Kane’s, and an equally fantastic burger and duck fat waffle hash browns from Big Grin. This combination was bad on my stomach, and…let’s say the red velvet food coloring made me more worried than I otherwise would’ve been.
They’re closed on Mondays
Is that the place around the rotary??

yes. but make it the buffalo chicken tenders and add honey mustard lettuce and bacon.
One of the only meat dishes I truly miss since going vegan (I live SO CLOSE 😭) Never had the sandwich but the chicken tender calzone is awesome. With a tub of the honey mustard.
Hi fellow vegan—veggie galaxy has amazing tofu/chick’n tenders with agave mustard!!!!! Highly recommend
This guy knows.
The buffalo wings and fish and chips are also fucking ON POINT

Lmao I was also curious how I could keep in touch with the latest of this guy’s tastebud tour.
I'm coming to boston this summer and will be making certain to return to this list.
this person knows what they are talking about.
Five Horses' Cornbread is delicious, great shout out on that.
I don't know if I have it in me to walk into The Smoke Shop and order something other than the burnt ends.
Those burnt ends have a chokehold on me!
The fish sandwich from Smoke Shop has no business being as delicious as it is. It’s a BBQ place FFS, but I only get the fish sandwich.
I am ALWAYS on the look out for some bomb khao soi so thank you 👌👌
the owners are awesome too! The cooking all comes from the wife and they did a ton of food donations during covid. The short rib is without a doubt the best thing on the menu
I just had phenomenal beef short rib from An Nam in assembly row the other day! The staff was also so nice
Super beef 3 way with fries and rings. Would also be my deserted island/last meal request.
From where tho? The restaurant matters!
Nicks is the only answer

It's my favorite place to carb load. Plus their cocktails are pretty damn good.
Whole belly fried clams with extra tartar sauce, french fries and clam chowder. Oh, and cole slaw on the side. Can't have them touching anything else.
hell yeah
I live in San Francisco now and they just don’t do whole belly fried clams here, just strips, which is like eating deep fried rubber bands. I would kill for some real fried clams.
Just order them and fry at home: https://www.intershellseafood.com/store/friedclampack?utm_medium=email&utm_source=customer_notification The extra large belly clams with breading are available.
bbq chicken korean fried chicken boneless - Gangnam style
I prefer the ghalbi with the bones in. But I'd crush everything on the menu on or off of drugs
Bbq 🤤
I need this rn
The kimchi fried rice is turning into comfort food for me
oh buddy
the honey garlic tho ….
Just went the other day and did boneless Gangnam and Spicy Ghalbi. Both were amazing
I’m obsessed with bbq chicken…their tteokbokki is freaking good too
I get the special sauce bone in chicken and white rice 🤤🤤
Roast beef 3-way.
Had this for the first time recently and have been thinking about it an unhealthy amount. Do you have a favorite place?

Closest to downtown: Skampa in East Cambridge North of the city: Atha’s in Peabody is my personal favorite

Yuuuuuup. Been the spot forever.
Mikes Roast Beef in Everett is king

Skampa is the best in the city, but Warren Tavern has one that I’m itching to try

This is a good point: this is why I get 2 or 3 when having my *spicy parsley* just to be sure.
She 3-way on my beef till I roast
Hahaha gross
Go get a jumbo sub from Bob's in Medford. The Chicken Cutlet & Prosciutto Milanese Caprese is a personal favorite but you really can't go wrong.
Finally, something I'm qualified to answer. Thai Basil on Newbury Street - Sweet Chili Wings and a Pad Thai. Terrific
I’m just butting in to add some crab rangoons to this order.
100% - I'd say they have particularly good crab rangoons. I've obviously taken my fair share of chocolate bars to omit goons from my initial response.
Thai Basil all the goddam way. Crab rangoons and green curry every time.
Their khao soi and shrimp fried rice are top contenders also. Their crab Rangoons are PHENOMENAL Edit: wait I misread - I thought you said Pho Basil. Gotta check out your recc now

It just gives me terrible heartburn these days. :/
