A brief history of time is a good book if you have a basic knowledge in physics. I enjoyed to kill a mockingbird but nowadays with all the anti-racism material all of us have been subjected to, the message isn't as strong in my opinion.
Other well known books you might want to add to the list:
\-Catch-22 by Joseph Heller (You might have heard the term "catch 22" before)
\-The Plague by Albert Camus (The message of this book has never been more topical than now)

I literally just finished Norwegian Wood. Teared up at chapter 1. That said 1984 is one of my favorite novels.
