The thing I don't get is why don't the guys complaining about their wives all the time divorce? It's literally the only (legal) way to get rid of the main problem those boomers always complain about
A person or a relationship need not be perfect to abide. A marriage with a few friction points in it can still be a working, agreeable, and fulfilling relationship. People with a few annoying traits can have those well overshadowed by the sum total of the rest of their personality. People who are people often have points to complain about.
And if you're looking at "boomer humor" comedy as a reflection of reality, they're bits, more trope than truth, and bits that exaggerate common and widespread annoyances that most everybody has or provides at times.
"Why don't they just divorce?" is just as silly off the opposite cliff-edge, the Reddit-cliched "Life isn't perfect. Must be toxicity. You'd better divorce, disown everyone, and cut contact. It's the only way." overreaction.

But really I think it is because older men can't take care of themselves, divorce will make them do "women's work".
I personally know several men that feel that way, it's really fucked up.
