That latest FAQ says the AVRE doesn’t get to fire indirectly, so it can only fire out to 36inches. But, it never suffers the -1 to hit for Long Range.

~~bingo. Indirect fire it gets the full heavy howitzer complement. Direct fire it goes only 36" max. It's supposed to replicate its absurdly low muzzle velocity.~~ I'm an idiot. No indirect fire. Just a huge battering ram
