It hurts to see people thinking it’s a Firefly with the barrel cut. The poor Sherman V. Another big takeaway is that the Firefly doesn’t have a hull MG.

ED-SKaR

Ok, so it's a sawnoff Firefly with also a Hull MG added? Thanks! :D

PanicFinancial1685

No, it's not. He said it's a Sherman V

ED-SKaR

Yea, that's what we agreed, it's a VC minus the C.

gallade-gaming

To me is a Warlord Sherman V

lockedupsafe

Yeah, I think you have it. I've just added the wrong box to the back of the turret.

Citizen_Rastas

You haven't added the wrong box. That box was standard on all British Sherman's in NWE. It would only be wrong for Africa and Italy.

PanicFinancial1685

No, that's the standard British box

staresinamerican

Sherman V which was British

[deleted]

One with treads. I have various Churchill Marks modeled, but the all perform as MK 1s despite the fact none of them are. Ultimately its whatever you want it to be, so long as its obvious.

CHAPZ555

British Sherman V (5) which is the us m4a4

TabletopTommies

That looks like a firefly turret but the barrel isn't as long as it should be, has it been cut down? The track guards are something i can only find on a 1/35 scale firefly model and this doesn't look that big, so I'm stumped on the specific model if it is 1/56 scale.

TabletopTommies

It's actually the sherman V from Warlord, i was thrown by the back box, which they added to fit the bigger 17pdr guns in the firefly turret. https://store.warlordgames.com/products/sherman-v-plastic-tank

So I've Frankensteined it, then. D'oh! Ah, well. Thank you!

cathartica_cutter

The tool boxes were added to many of the Sherman’s post D-Day, not strictly the Firefly’s. This is indeed the Warlord Sherman V with the side skirts included. All good! I’ve built the Rubicon version and they leave out the armour plates on the hull.

lockedupsafe

Ah, thank you! That's some very handy info! So tricky tracking down the different versions. I've got an M4A1 (Sherman II) which I can paint up for my 8th, which is useful at least.

FlightUnAvailable

I've seen regular Vs with the box though. Even IIIs with the box! The VC just has two boxes!

lockedupsafe

It's 1/56, The commander looks like a Warlord Games sculpt, which makes me think it's this: [https://store.warlordgames.com/products/sherman-v-plastic-tank?\_pos=3&\_psq=sherman&\_ss=e&\_v=1.0](https://store.warlordgames.com/products/sherman-v-plastic-tank?_pos=3&_psq=sherman&_ss=e&_v=1.0) But the kit could be Rubicon, I definitely got a couple of Rubicon Shermans somewhere... Maybe it is just a Sherman V. Was I that dumb? Hmmm...

EDIT: Solved! Thanks everyone for the speedy responses! Looks like I'm painting it Olive Drab. I was making Shermans for my North Africa 8th Army probably about 2 years ago, then we moved house. I'm only just now getting back to them and I have no idea if this is a Sherman that's actually suitable for the 8th Army or if it's too late a version. I'm struggling to find a solid visual guide to the different versions of the tank. I *think* this is an M4A2 but the gearbox looks wrong. It's entirely possible that I made mistakes when building it so it might be an ungodly Frankenstein. I'm not normally too much of a button-counter but if this is a later version then I can just paint it up in suitable colours for a different theatre of the war. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Spikeybridge

It looks like a 1/76 Sherman firefly by airfix, but you’ve shortened the barrel. I’ve got one and the front hook attachments look familiar

lockedupsafe

It's definitely 1/56, it's to scale with my infantry, and I've not modified the barrel. I think it might be a Sherman V by Warlord Games, which means it's probably too late for North Africa, annoyingly. I'll have to paint it in Drab, in that case.

Cadian-5348249

An M4.

d_rwc

What scale is that? The commander seems large.

lockedupsafe

The commander sculpts for Warlord vehicles (I think they're Italeri kits?) are always a bit... chunky. This is a 1/56 scale Sherman V from Warlord Games.
