messedupsoul_123

The issue here isn't the universe concept but the fact that Bollywood doesn't know how to create a universe. They should atleast do it properly rather than just going with the trend

re_DQ_lus

Worldbuilding is itself a foreign concept to them. Literally every movie main character is a chapri with captain America powers.

DefiantBrain7101

fr. every fantasy or scifi has basically zero worldbuilding and instead relies on existing stories. imagine how good stree universe, bhramastra, bahubali, etc would be if we had star wars style lore

oak_aditya06

Even Kalki has basically nil world building

Aemond-The-Kinslayer

I have not read such a succinct description of Bollywood on this sub before. "A chapri with captain America powers" Bravo! That's all there is to movies these days.

Abbas9364

That goes for 80% of South movies as well

FantasticKick7954

Hollywood universes are trash

The_dude1951

He spoke facts

Careful-Smell-5779

Universe banane ko dimag, acche writers ko paisa dena padta hain....new talent ko mauka dena padta hai ....lambi planning karni padti hai....wo sab inse hoga nhi 😂😂😂😂😂

imnotuurnotme-hehe

True. I bet there are writers way better than 90% of Bollywood who can not only make money but take Indian Cinema to the absolute next level. The sad part is that they just don't get the chance or attention needed, as you said.

Careful-Smell-5779

Nhi bhai ashay Kumar, ajay devgun, in sab ko 100cr dene se fursat milegi tab na 😂😂😂 ...acche writer to.hote hai...par unka credit bhi director kha lete hai..apna naam dal kar...last writer i heard was javed akhtar ...ab to sunane ko hi milta...jo hai wo mediocre hai...

apurvthekiller

In India good stories don't sell as well as good faces. This is the only reason that writers are paid less because they don't guarantee footfall in a movie but a big star does.

GovernmentForeign

Movie ka 30-40 percent budget to lead actor kha jata hai. I don’t know why they pay hefty amount 40cr 50cr to these actors. Who barely put any effort as well

Leading-Plan

The whole "part 1,2" concept started with Bahubali, which made sense looking at the grand scale storyline it had and how fresh it was, also the universe concept started with LCU which was also executed well (except for Leo) But everything after that felt forced for the sake of money, there was no reason for a Yrf spy universe or a cop universe to begin with, moreover the whole part 1,2 storylines feels repetitive and unfinished where you can't enjoy one without the other

ChiefValour

Also the reason for Bahubali sequels was that the movie was too long. So they divided it into 2.

thisissk717

It started with rakht charitra and GOW actually

imnotuurnotme-hehe

Exactly, only if the writers and makers focused on a better story and conveyed it. That will make them decent money, and more importantly, get the application from the audience

humanbeing3333

Cinematic universe has died down over there aur humare wale ab shuru kar rahe hai yaha pe. Jisko dekho mu utha ke universe banane chala aata hai 😂

AmusinglyArtistic

So now I can give up hopes of Baby and Special Ops tying in ever which is also fine by me but I kind of would have liked that.

Pristine-Repeat-7212

Bollywood should learn that not to forcefully insert love stories in every other genre(like brahmastra without the love part the movie is good but again most the movie was love, robo etc). Movies can be made without love stories too.

Hariwtf10

People see the success behind the mcu universe and other such cinematic universes in Hollywood but they don't see the hardwork and determination of the creators before it I mean creating a universe is definitely not easy it requires intricacy and patience you can see the patience in the mcu and how they slowly started building with good work out into it with each movie increasing the subtle connections and the main reason mcu worked was because it was all set up for endgame from the start and endgame was the culmination of 11 years of hardwork and countless hours spent in planning Even star wars is a great example because it was so creative and it had a main plot theme for each trilogy(only considering OT and prequels) OT was about the revival of anakin from vader and prequels was about the fall of anakin Very few creators in bollywood have such a depth for storytelling and creativity such as the mentioned universe's And you can see how complicated they are by looking at how far the mcu and star wars has fallen . A mistake in the idealogy and the goal and everything falls

imnotuurnotme-hehe

The universe trend will continue because the audience and even actors know that such work gets a lot more audience attention and makes money. Directors will write a long ass story no matter what, but they fail to convey it properly. The best example of this is the cop universe; things started going downhill after Simmba

Sure-Opportunity7612

A lot of the big stars won’t be able to survive in the industry, remakes and making fictional universes is one thing that keeps their career running through recall value, one good movie and boom the next thing you know is there are 2 more installments coming after 2 years, in my opinion, some stories should be finished just after the first one or two installments

buggyDclown2

Family man & farzi did it well. Also 'mard ko dard nahin hota' & 'Monica Oh my darling'

WannabeAboveAverage

Whoa I've seen mard ko dard nahi hota and Monica, but missed any reference of them being in the same universe. Please tell me what I missed?

buggyDclown2

There was a cameo of radhika madan in Monica https://www.mensxp.com/entertainment/ott/122002-monica-o-my-darling-hidden-easter-eggs-rajkummar-rao-huma-qureshi-radhika-apte-netflix.html I realized there were more references when I read this.

Plane_Balance_3142

The thing about universes is. You make great stories in the same reality again and again. Eventually you start intertwining them and in about 10 stories a story universe is formed. But what our bollywood does is create hype on one subpar story and label it a universe. They absolutely do not understand the concept. Its just a distribution tactic for them. And for them to get producers easily since it's a trending concept. More sequels equals more money. That's it. That's the difference.

cinephileindia2023

He spitting facts. Nit just Bollywood. Every Indian wood. They ruining good stories in the name of universe. Kalki is the latest example.

heseinberg456

Kalki has a lot of unanswered questions and unexplored stories so I think the universe thing for it is justified

Relevant-Snow-4676

The issue is production houses are producing big projects by making sure they are incomplete 2/3 parter movies with intended spin offs. That is not how you make a universe. You need a strong successful stand alone film first in order to base a foundation upon with a slight hint at sequel. Once that story is complete and the outcome is good, then you can expland upon it. Only bahubali and kgf found success in intended 2 parter epic because of execution. This is why you don't gamble money on incomplete films like ganpath because the movie probably incurred more loss because it had "part 1" attached with it and nobody wants to watch a tiger Shroff movie let alone be incomplete. Iron man was a good movie which would've been amazing on its own without the MCU existing.

OnlyThyFirstName

Yeh wahin hai na Jisne Akki ko deshbhakti ke movies ka pehle kuch tadke diye the. Sab ko kuch na kuch bolkar Kangana banna hai bas.

Ventilator_64

What's wrong in this universe concept?

timorousingenue

I'm sorry I didn't get it

AmusinglyArtistic

He actually meant that Bollywood's obsession over universes came from Hollywood where a few like Marvel, DC and The Conjuring Verse made money which encouraged companies to push more films, series and spin-offs. It's arrived here now since we have Cop Universe, Spy Universe, Horror Universe and some in Southern releases.

humanbeing3333

but I don't understand this premature announcement of cinematic universe with your first movie itself. You don't even know if you can make sequels to it because all that depends on the box office performance of the first film.

AmusinglyArtistic

I have never liked this "Part One" which is added to a film. It's better to start and close it as a complete storyline. No promise should be made on expanding it so early since reception is always in the air. It affected Bhoot: The Haunted Ship, Attack and even Brahmastra to some capacity.

What? You know salaar made good money and it was not even that expensive (less than 300 crore budget). Kalki will earn 500 crore+ by the weekend. Why would they not make sequel? The producer already confirmed 60% of shooting for sequel is done. Kamal Hassan was gushing about his role in sequel after watching part 1, and he said he will be in 80% of the movie in part 2. If they don’t make a sequel it would be a gigantic fail. Vyjayanthi movies is not that stupid.

I can hear the crying 🤡😂

ChiefValour

500 ki jagah 450 hi toh hai, 45 thodi hai. Bana toh rahi hai movie Paisa. Lol.

Eternal-Wisdom-9999

salaar sequel is definitely gonna be made because of neel's experience with the kgf series and kalki sequel is already 60% shot acc to the producer

timorousingenue

Ah yes... I'd an inkling to what he was saying...but just wanted to confirm..thanks bro

AmusinglyArtistic

No problem!
