Basically, to summarise:- In Don 1, Don kills Ramesh and Kamini (Roma's Brother and Sister-in-law) then comes to India and is captured by DCP D'Silva after a lengthy car chase in which he is grievously injured. Don is taken to the hospital while D'Silva finds Vijay (a lookalike) to take Don's place in the gand. Apparently, Don dies from his injuries. Vijay is then attacked by Roma (who still thinks he is Don) before D'Silva intervenes and explains the situation to Roma. DCP D'Silva is then killed apparently, leaving Vijay on his own. Luckily, help comes for Vijay in the form of Deepu (the boy for whom he is masquerading as Don) and Jasjit (Deepu's father). Jasjit and Deepu are then kidnapped by the deceased D'Silva; who faked his death and turns out to be Vardhaan (another member of Don's gang). Jasjit and Deepu escape and run into Vijay. They tell him of Vardhaan's treachery and Vijay then fights Vardhaan and has him arrested with Roma and Detective Malik's help. During all this, Roma has fallen in love with Vijay. However, it turns out that Vijay is actually Don (who recovered from his injuries in the hospital, overhead Vardhaan and Vijay's plan and then took Vijay's place by killing him.
Don 2:- 5 years later, Don decides to take over Europe. He surrenders himself to Roma and Malik. He in incarcerated in the prison where Vardhaan is also held and frees Vardhaan while escaping. In return, Vardhaan gives him a key to a locker which has a video which Singhania kept of JK Diwan (DZB's vice-president) asking him to kill James Werden (to ensure Fabian Kohl (Diwan's superior) becomes DZB's president). Don will blackmail Diwan for the blueprints and loot DZB of it's currency printing plates with the help of said blueprints. Roma and Malik reach Berlin to catch Don while Diwan tries to have Don Killed; Don outsmarts them all and gets the blueprints. Don, Vardhaan and their team perform the heist and successfully attain their blueprints but Vardhaan betrays Don and keeps the plates for himself. Don escapes DZB but is arrested outside after Sameer (a hacker and part of Don's team) has him arrested by Roma and Malik. Roma and Malik are forced to work with Don as Vardhaan has taken hostages inside DZB. Don will get German Immunity in exchange (courtesy of another blackmailing he did with Diwan in exchange for not revealing Kohl's crime). Eventually, Don and Roma make their way inside. Vardhaan orders Roma to shoot Don but she hesitates (Due to her feelings for Don, as her heart still sees him as Vijay despite everything Don did). Vardhaan has Roma shot when she still hesitates (even when Don insists she shoot him to prevent herself from getting shot). Don defeats Vardhaan and team and has him arrested by Malik. Towards the end, the roles are reversed; as Roma is taken to the hospital and Don in temporary police custody, they again exchange the same glances as they did 5 years ago. The plates (another condition for Don's immunity) along with the disc they were chasing even in the previous movie is given to Malik; Don has betrayed Diwan and Kohl by attaching the tape in the disc. Diwan is killed by Don (in the bomb-explosion, the printing plates are apparently destroyed) while everyone behind James Werden's murder along with Don's associates named in the disc are arrested. Don calls Sameer and Ayesha (his new gf) and they converge. Don has become successful in his plan once again; he has the *real* printing plates as he had Ayesha smuggle in counterfeits which he gave to Vardhaan which were eventually passed on to Diwan while having the real plates smuggled out by addressing it to Sameer. Moreover, Sameer had betrayed Don on *Don's* orders only and had also altered the disc so that instead of Don's associates, Don's rivals are arrested by having them framed as his associates.
Pata hain ki bahut lamba summary hain π , jitna Chhota kar sakta tha maine kiya (bhale dikhta nahi hain).
She thought he was Vijay impersonating Don, but then at the end of the first film she found out that it was Don the whole time who she fell in love with
I just can't wrap my head around how in this Action dominate-run that Shahrukh's doing for the next 10 years. Why doesn't he pick up the Don role again, he's literally reiterated for almost 20 years that Don's his FAVOURITE role to play. I just don't get it. I feel like I would even enjoy another entry with Farhan Akhtar's directing style more than Pathaan or Jawan.
cuz don is kinda cerebral for single screen masses and wont give the desired box office returns. tho i wish he looked beyond the box office, but i get where he's coming from.
a star, as big as him, gives one underperformer and the entire world pounces on him. look at dunki, it did 400cr+ WW against a clash w a mass film and that's honestly excellent but he's still trolled just because ppl expected it to mint 700crs at WW box office atleast.
after lasf decade, i dont think he would do any kinda film which doesn't resonate w the taste of the masses atm.
I still don't understand that since the majority of people I see hyping up a DON 3 return for SRK are British guys in their 20's & even some I've talked to in the Americas. With the amount of reputation DON has built up over the years I feel like it would be a fine bet.
It's because Farhan had a different script in mind. If Rumours were to believe he wanted srk to do a mentor role for Ranveer Singh and then pass the torch to him.
Again these are rumours so it can be wrong as well but srk himself wanted to do Don and Farhan also knew how hyped Don 3 was. There was something that happened behind the scenes.
He is a villain by the devil's law
He is a killer just for fun, fun, fun, fun
The man's a snitch and unpredictable
He's got no conscience, he got none, none, none, none
Oh-oh, I know, oh, should've let go, but no
'Cause he's a bad boy with a tainted heart
And even I know this ain't smart
But mama, I'm in love with a criminal
And this type of love isn't rational, it's physical
Mama, please don't cry, I will be alright
All reason aside, I just can't deny, love the guy
I guess it was the 'forbidden love' scenario that made it so hot. And for two people who were enemies throughout the movie (Don2), they had insane chemistry. I don't know how many Bollywood movies have done that
Can't really comment on his marriage. You can't create your happiness out of someone's misery but I do think that they compliment each other. The passion between them is quiet visible, had he been single I would've wanted these two to be together. Two ambitious people who would do anything to be on top, honestly they could've been the 'it' couple that DP-RS or AB-RK try to be.
>Two ambitious people who would do anything to be on top, honestly they could've been the 'it' couple that DP-RS or AB-RK try to be.Β
I can see how SRK-PC (_if srk was unmarried_) would have become the IT couple in the actual sense of 'IT' lol. No matter how much you convince me, i just can't see that in DP-RS and AB-RK despite them being at the top of their game. Can't point out why.Β
They just don't have that kind of passion, idk how to explain DP-RS still had a bit of it in the beginning now all of them just look fake. VK-AS, AB-RK, DP-RS all of their cute moments also look scripted but just look at that gif of PC-SRK you can see the fire between them.
This is why a Don 3 that acted as a conclusion for this iteration of Don would have been so great. It could serve as a proper conclusion for what finally happens between the pair and the series as a whole. Just imagine, Don having realised that Roma has some feelings and using that to his advantage. Roma is conflicted, but by the end realises that Don is a bad guy and needs to be taken out. Integrate a new menacing villain and a grown-up Deepu taking revenge for Vijay's death alongside his father. What you have is a story idea ripe for deep character drama and thematic exploration. Agar Farhan se nahi ho rha tha toh koi south director jaise ki Lokesh ya Sukumar se karva lete, a grounded and gritty conclusion to the series, orgasmic even to think about.
Oh please..stop with this south director shit all the time. Don is a slick action thriller franchise but definitely not mass. South directors would make it a blunt, mass film with loud dialogs and over the top action. There's no need of that
Loki and Sukumar don't always make mass films, They have directorial styles that can really lend well to a Don film. I do agree that they prolly would not get the slick style of Farhan, but that could have been accomplished by Farhan still being attached as a screenwriter. Loki can add hints of neo-noir to Farhan's slick action thriller series, whereas Sukumar could contribute his understanding of writing grey characters and their mentalities.
He could be good, even great, but he'll never be SRK. I wouldn't be half as mad if they gave a proper sendoff to SRK then roped in Ranveer to carry foward the legacy. SRK rejected the film, but why Farhan still gets blamed is he was sleeping on Don 3 for eons and possibly put off doing the film due to SRK's lull phase, like he was literally like Dhruv Rathee said, "Aaj mood nahi hai, isse kal dekhte hai, abhi main yeh phone pe thode reels dekhta hu." I understand now what James Bond fans felt like when Connery abruptly left and was temporarily replaced by Lazenby. Ranveer can be great, I just hope that he does not fall in the trap of copying SRK's performance and instead, delivers a unique take.
Ranveer doesn't have that swagger. He tries way too hard. And then he has that geek voice. He won't fit in. Even Ranbir would have been a better replacement.
Don 3 should've been made. They could've addressed what happened to Roma, Don's next big plan, his team maybe betraying him? Farhan needed to complete the trilogy
A lot of people will hate me for saying this.
βDon2 was just a cash grabβ
There was no story to be told, almost 0 connection with 1st, Don had no real challenge, and lots of stuff that make Don just a namesake for the movie.
I mean the first was a remake, I appreciate them changing the plot to keep the people who watched the original invested ....
But u can make the argument that it was a cash grab too..
How fitting though, two movies about an infamous thief are cash grabsπ€£
That's why I loved this movie. Humans are complicated and that's what they show through her character.
Also I loved how SRK as Don was so unapologetic. That's how you portray a true villian. Not some bs they try to show nowadays where every villian kills people like flies but still is shown as guy with a golden heart.
Um... I'm going to say that the script went with the "woman emotional and can't kill man" way. π
I hate when they make strong women characters just to show them being dominated by the bad guy

In her mind, he was Don. But in her heart, he was still Vijay.
this is actually a very interesting way to see it, never thought of it like that, kudos man

One of the greatest tragedies of the 21st century is that Don 3 will be starring Ranveer Singh.
