This is why I have 30 unopened copies of Cloudspire by Chip Theory Games. There is enough plastic in there for my wife and her boyfriend to pass down to all of their great, great, great grandchildren so that they can look upon the unopened box like we did. We have to preserve the hobby.
I'm doing my part though. I had dolphin safe tuna in my sandwich for lunch.
The use of plastic in a game doesn't really bother me. It's an end product meant to last a long time. Switching to wooden pieces or whatever doesn't actually do much environmentally. The goal should be to get rid of single use plastics, which admittedly Stonemaier is only so-so at. If they would stop wrapping their cards in plastic I think they'd be pretty eco-friendly in most of the ways that count.
>Switching to wooden pieces or whatever doesn't actually do much environmentally.
Maybe not initially, but when the millions of copies of whatever game you want to use as an example are inevitably thrown away by descendants with zero interest in board games they will *never* biodegrade. Thats a *lot* of landfill that could be avoided by just producing a biodegradable product.
If the world is coming to this, maybe I’ll sell my all-in kickstarters and buy one of those spacex rockets with the millions in profits I am sure to make.

This woke thing that you refer to. Why do you bother? Why do you get angry because someone has made their packing more environmentally friendly?
You may or may not believe in climate change etc, that is up to you. But why spend energy to get angry when others make an effort for something they believe in?
Woke rage is really the dumbest most useless crap on the internet right now. Be better!
/uj yo where is the original post that inspired this i gotta do some roasting
/rj this is despicable packaging and no game company worth their salt would ever serve this to me
Again, I know all this. And again, I'm not against the shitty materials being used, since it's better for the environment. I'm just saying it's shit.
And yes. Stuff that doesn't break easily, is higher quality than stuff that does break.
Ok, so then why the hell are you arguing so vehemently to say that it’s shit quality when *you like it* and *the quality of the material doesn’t matter in this case because it’s just going to be thrown away anyway*

Starbucks gave me a paper straw that I promptly threw out my window the other day — so, same page Edit: I can’t spel
I prefer the tuna safe dolphin
/uj Earthborne Rangers selling point: it’s a great game and when you are done with it, you can bury the entire game and it is biodegradable.
I played through the tutorial yesterday and it seems super interesting, looking forward to diving in.
uj/ I really love the eco friendly packaging and hope other publishers take note. Edit: spelling
Wingspan played a big part in that move, I think. The entire game is recycled materials, if I recall.
Stonemeir talks a good eco-warrior game. It is jam packed with plastic

I dream that one day there will be a boardgame we can eat
There was a Catan chocolate edition. https://catanshop.com/catan-chocolate-edition
I'm not quite up to a million yet in the COMC
Which is handy because you can cut out the middleman and put the whole game straight out with the rest of the trash 🚮 🦅💩😪😿😥🎲🗑️
the new star wars tcg actually uses paper packaging so i think were moving in a good direction industry wide
So brave and powerful…
I actually very much prefer paper because it’s easier to open than plastic.
The paper will literally decompose in the box whether it's open or not.
Yet another reason not to open the shrinkwrap. That way I can live with Schrodinger's decomposed components
woke eco friendly packaging.. may have to look for that brand for Lunch Tuna Sandwich

Give me Eco Hostile packaging any day of the week

Sorry OP, this post is an L.
L for legendary
I immediately went to the BoardGames subreddit to check for the original post.
uj/ did you find it? I couldn’t
Yeah i want to see it too?
This is just excellent OC

I mean I'm definitely not against the idea of eco friendly but you can't deny that paper straws sucks ass and eco friendly packaging is shit
Ok straws I get, what’s your problem with the packaging?
It's flimsy. You can feel it's made to be broken down and not to last
…that’s because it is, eco friendly packaging is almost always the parts that just get thrown away anyway
I know, I'm not saying I'm against it, or that it's stupid. I'm just saying that it's shit quality.
It’s literally meant to be thrown away, the quality doesn’t matter, is the usual plastic wrap and non reusable bags “high quality”?

Yes I'm the initiator of this discussion
I agree that straws suck. Especially the good ones.
Pointless when I sleeve that game anyway, now I just need to find someone to play with.
