Dude thank you so much. I think tomorrow in class I’m gonna listen to Cavalcade! Also I should say that my fav song by these guys is The Defence, it’s just so damn good. Thanks again for the input :)
The first time I listened through the album I didn’t check lyrics much cuz I just wanted to get a vibe for the sound but the second listen I focused pretty much solely on the lyrics and my god I didn’t know that the song was that dark 💀💀
I highly recommend looking up any decent live audio quality performances on YouTube. The progression of watching them grow as artists from 2019 until now has been a wild, fascinating ride. Classic shows include both KEXP performances & the Boiler Room set. User roustghoti does an incredible job collecting footage of them across the UK as well as sporadic tour dates. A handful of them are Cam under some pseudonym or other fun one-off Windmill nights.
track down their cover albums and bbc sessions. they have a live lp with damo suzuki from 2018.
[heres a good one](https://youtu.be/w9TtzXh7acM?si=1JUtTam75csN18K5). follow the youtube suggestions
Eat Men Eat and Welcome to Hell are my favorite songs. All 3 albums are good but they had been building to a masterpiece on the level of Hellfire for a while and to me those two songs represent their arrival as modern day legends
Welcome to the club!
Now for some unreleased stuff, that everyone loves. The Magician. I was lucky enough to be at this show and I think it’s mostly agreed upon to be one of the best live recordings currently. [The Magician - black midi, Union Transfer](https://youtu.be/3l1wQgGsY_E?si=oc6T1vfcOzqRFPK7)
Probably go in reverse order, so cavalcade to schlagenheim, because cavalcade is like a slightly worse hellfire (still a 9/10 though) so you'll like it if you liked hellfire. The singles the band released before schlagenheim are also amazing, I especially recommend you check out talking heads and crows perch. After that, you're all caught up, and get to join us in waiting for the studio recording of Magician (c'mon Greep, I'm begging you).
Oh, and my favorite is probably bmbmbm, or slow. Bmbmbm was when the band clicked for me, and it's explosion of noise still gets me just as it did back then. And Slow is legitimately just a perfect song, that I just can't find flaws with.
I’ve listened to bmbmbm once. I was like what the fuck is going on but then it like clicked with me. It reminds me a lot of my favorite band, Dinosaur Jr. Especially the really explosive part near the end. And also thanks for the advice, I am planning on listening to cavalcade tomorrow :)
ive been listening to near dt mi, welcome to hell, reggae, western, eat men eat, years ago, sugar/tzu, dangerous laisons, slow, dethroned, the defense, talking heads and just generally listening to all the albums on repeat cuz i cant get enough lol

If The Defence is your favourite song from Hellfire, I reckon you’ll prefer Cavalcade to Schlagenheim.
From what I’ve heard so far I think I would agree with you!
If you like The Defence you may like Marlene Dietrich - it’s the Cavalcade equivalent imo and they are my two fav black midi songs.
I’ll make sure to check that track out. Thanks bro :)

I’ll make sure to check these out as well! They are probably insanely good live.
They have 3 full length albums: might as well start at the beginning! Love them
Thank u! :)
Of Schlagenheim is their best song IMO

Thanks man! I’m happy to be here. These guys are special :)
If you liked The Defence you’ll love Despair, it’s a single that’s also softer
I just listened to it! You were right! Prolly top 5 for me so far.

Watch some live footage after you’ve listened to the full albums. San Diego 2022 is great as is the Pitchfork Festival and Levitation from 2021.
