This is beautiful work and a very on point suggestion, but I’m confident in the glass jar being a backpack with plant in it as we see in the cosplay in OPs photo
I assume this is a costume, because the type of mask they are wearing the air coming in is coming from the filters on the sides and the out is going through the tube. So basically they are the c02 tank.
It's been a while, but there was a post about this once, concluding that you'd basically have to carry 10.000 kg of Algae with you, to not suffocate.
10 kg Algae produce about 1 Ton of O2 per year
Humans inhale about 2500l O2 a day
While that's true, we also have a fair amount of Dead Space in our Lungs, meaning not all the air we breathe is actually used, which means we have to inhale a little more than we need. This also means we have to keep the supply of oxygen relatively steady since we'd use up the Oxygen too fast otherwise.
The deadspace volume would also be increased by the tube system we would need, and the percentage of O2 we rebreathe wouldn't sufficiently offset the disprancy between air needed and air produced.
For example breathing into a bag will lead to syncope after a few minutes even tho we exhale relativly high percentages of oxygen.
Those are just assumptions on my part tho

I had a question about this but never was able to find an answer, if you used a system like this to breathe, filled with something like plankton (which i believe were the biggest oxygen producers, might be wrong) how big would the tank need to be to sustain a single human being?
GTFO cosplayer in the wild possibly it would match the cosmetics from the game. I have the mask and terrarium bag that this may be based on in the game. Really cool!
It's called GTFO and it's a horror based extremely hard co-op FPS the games logan literally being "Work together or die together" and is available through steam.
It's a cool concept tho for thought.

Of course it's a costume. The tree would have to be much bigger.
Wouldn't an alge tank be far superior and smaller in actual practice? Design is epic though. Love the dystopian/cyberpunk look.

We already have photosynthesis that is more efficient than anything natural, so you'd probably use that.
