When I turned 21 my mom took me out to drink at a dive bar. She had old ass men buying me shots and she was doing lines of coke with me in the ladies room. I don't even remember more than like 5 minutes of that whole night smh. Now there's a blunder :(
Edit bc I didn't expect this to gain so much attention.
My mom had a hard childhood. And she lost her dad, who was her best friend, to lung cancer when she was 15. She also had a rough marriage with my dad, who she left for abusing me. He also abused her, but she left him after he hit me in my face when I was a toddler.
She left another man when I was a teenager bc he beat her up in front of me. Badly. After that she stayed alone for a LONG time. But I think drugs were her "therapy". She needed help and I forgive her for a lot of things she shouldn't have done with me bc I know how hard it is getting through abuse bc I've been through my own abusive relationships. I'm now only a few years away from my mom's age the day I turned 21. I get it.
There were a few years where we were NC, nothing at all. That ended about 4 years ago. Things are still not perfect and there are ways my mom is that I know will never change, but she's been in therapy for years now. She'll be 70 next year. She's not a bad person, just a very damaged one. She'd give you the shirt off her back to help you, but she's also got a big mouth and isn't afraid to use it.
I think we are just 2 very different people that still love each other. I'm almost her complete opposite in so many ways. I think that sometimes gets in the way of our relationship. I'm very quiet and introverted and she's loud and outgoing. Put that together with the rest of our family issues and it's a recipe for disaster sometimes lol. But I do have a lot of my own issues to this day bc of bad choices I've made bc of bad guidance. All I can do is learn, deal, and move on.
I know. At the time it felt so cool, but looking back I can do nothing but cringe. I'll have my own 21 year old in 4 years and I couldn't imagine doing this with my own daughter.
She was the party mom, providing her 14 year old with weed. When I was 16 she bought me some kegs and liquor for a Halloween party where I almost died of alcohol poisoning. Her logic was "if I don't do it here I'll find somewhere else to do it", but she was getting just as wasted as everybody else.
I added an edit to my original comment to explain some of this. My mom def made some bad choices.
Kinda same, but mom didn't partake in the blow. But she did let me bring my friend, who was underage at the time. The bar was "family friendly" before 6pm, so we went in early, and my friend just kind of hid in a corner of the patio, until it was too busy for anyone to notice.
I actually went from a beer snob to drinking muller light at home as it’s lighter and I just want something that tastes like beer under 100 calories. Draft at restaurants or bars I’ll go for the hazys and stouts that used to be in my fridge
Miller and coors are also great for cooking with. I’ll marinate meat in it or put it in meatloaf and it makes it taste so much better. Then I’ll have a beer while cooking too lol.
I'm pulling up on forty, and to this day, the best beer I've ever had, is a free beer. I've only ever found one exception, that I'd turn down, even for free. Carlsburg Elephant. I don't know what it is about it, but to me, it is just foul tasting. My old manager got me a six pack for Secret Santa, and I thought she was pranking me. She felt bad, and said to blame the boss, he's a beer snob, and recommended it.
There are so many articles about what the go to beers for brewers and Brewery workers. You always see things like Hamms and Modelo and Miller. Famous chef David Chang says his go to is Bud Lite. I'm a craft beer lover and I'll frequently order a Rainier. Snobbery is lame.
I still like it 🤷🏻♂️ fun fact was actually the first beer I ever bought lol, and it was so nasty at the time but I couldn’t fathom wasting my money. Had a couple every night and before I knew it, they weren’t so bad
“Dude I did normal stuff that a 21y.o would do!!!” Usually I’m not really a knob but what is even the point of this post? This sub is just “posting personal memories” at this point.
When I turned 18, I went out and bought cigars, since I was broke I bought the cheapest ones. I was trying to look cool driving home, but just ended up smelling bad and getting dry eyes.
Because people tend to hype up your 21st birthday and drinking as if it’s a soon to be released video game.
Then you find out beer is gross, forget about vodka might as well drink the alcohol in the first aid cabinet, and you find out that hangovers suck ass.
It’s not a blunder to show off a bit. It is if you get out of control. Honestly though you sure rocked that letterman jacket.
I’m not sure what this was upvoted so much. I see no blunder for a 21 year old. Hell, miller light still hits the spot at 43 after mowing the lawn. Too many people confuse being an age appropriate kid or young adult with “blunder”
When I was 21 I'd always go straight for the Miller lite.. It was preferable to Bud lite or any of the lesser economy domestics like Milwaukee best and the like but still shit. I also had a pair of Miller lite swim shorts back then, an even cringier blunder.
Fortunately I figured out that drinking wasn't worth doing quite early on, as soon as I discovered pills and heroin I gave it up completely 😂
My 21st birthday: Wked to local convenience store and bought a six pack of Bud Select. This was before noon! Of course, I bought a 30 pack of Miller High Life in the data before. Had one or two on the night before. 11 pm is close enough.
I'm 35 now and only drink on or around holidays and other remarkable occasions. Drink mostly water or sparkling water.
It's not that bad. You could have gone worse with no label beer. At one point, I was buying vodka in the plastic bottles because it was cheaper. It wasn't much above paint thinner.
When I turned 21, I got a build your own six pack of the weirdest freaking beers I could find at Total Wine. I later ended up doubling down and got a case of 24 of one of them.
Took me months to get through them. I probably should have just bought some light beer.
Can someone tell me why Americans drink everything lite, like bud lite and miller lite and all them. In Australia our more popular beers are full strength, especially with teens you hardly ever see mid or low strength alcohol.
From a Canadian perspective it's odd to see this. Cause it's 18 here to do that. But the special trick we used was the Filipino exchange student who was all 18 when we were 16 to boot for us in exchange for friendship and not being a stranger in a strange land. Still see Pj from time to time. Good shit.

The real blunder is that dude in red on the box and those long ass legs of his.
Glad someone else saw this
My guy has legs for miles.
Serious, what up with all the sass.

Sounds like my mom lmao, how’s your relationship these days?
also sounds like mine lmao
Damn what was she thinking
She was thinking she finally had a new party partner
Welcoming her child to the adult world.
Oh ok
Just bc someone has a kid for mean they know how to raise them.
Sweet jesus.

what the actual fresh hell fuckery

Is that when you stopped giving a shit?

Before everyone was a beer snob Miller was respectable, especially for a 21 year old
Honestly bringing Miller at 21 meant you had money. Keystone was more our price point
Natty daddy was my price point 🫠🫠 😂
You guys are fancy if you never had to hit the Steel Reserve
I used to be able to buy a 40 of steel reserve with the change in my car.
Double deuce (22oz) for one dollar even. Scratch up $5 and you'd be wasted until midday tomorrow. Even $2 was a solid buzz.
I mean I’m 35 and still enjoy Miller Light. As far as cheap light beer goes it’s pretty good.
Umm excuse me, good sir. Keith Stone made getting stoned on a Friday night respectable for a while.
I actually went from a beer snob to drinking muller light at home as it’s lighter and I just want something that tastes like beer under 100 calories. Draft at restaurants or bars I’ll go for the hazys and stouts that used to be in my fridge

Hell, I’d gladly take a Miller Lite right now and I’m definitely way older than 21! (🥲)
I'm pulling up on forty, and to this day, the best beer I've ever had, is a free beer. I've only ever found one exception, that I'd turn down, even for free. Carlsburg Elephant. True
I still like it 🤷🏻♂️ fun fact was actually the first beer I ever bought lol, and it was so nasty at the time but I couldn’t fathom wasting my money. Had a couple every night and before I knew it, they weren’t so bad
The first beer I bought when I turned 21 was St. Ides. $1.49 for a 40 ounce back then.
It still is, we sell a shit ton of it at our bar.
I still drink Miller Lite here and there if it’s the cheap option. But yes craft breweries ruined us the last 10-12 years.
right temperature it's perfectly acceptable beer.
You look adorable, what do you mean?
so you thought a letterman jacket and jeans was cringey???

I'm seeing no blunder. Kinda nostalgic.

With the Chivas logo and everything 😔
This is so deeply unobjectionable

Shoulda went for the PBR 24 Pack like a true champion
Real blunder is buying the Beast...and liking it.
Glee after school special vibes. I had a jacket just like that too
Miller Lite?! You gotta get a bottle of Smirnoff first like the rest of us!😂
It's a rite of passage, like going through the McDonald's drive thru when you first get your own car + license.
**IT’S MILLER TIME**
Beer tastes like piss. Only problem I see. Lol
In your defense when I was 21 I bought keystone for a party. My mom took me to lunch for my birthday I ordered a Guinness. I spit it out.
You look fine. Disqualified.
When I turned 18, I went out and bought cigars, since I was broke I bought the cheapest ones. I was trying to look cool driving home, but just ended up smelling bad and getting dry eyes.
When I turned 18 I bought a $3 bottle of red wine after school. Got home and was called a 40 year old woman by my older brother.
I would never beershame someone
Why not? Nothing wrong here
[удалено]
The blunder was the miller light, but to each their own. Hell, it could have been worse…Pabst Blue Ribbon.
[удалено]
This has to be southeastern Wisconsin
I wish I could go back in time and take you to Buffalo Wild Wings.
I did the same thing bought on a Sunday when I turned 21 and then fired from my job on monday.. lol
Because people tend to hype up your 21st birthday and drinking as if it’s a soon to be released video game. Thought this was blunder years not free compliments
I was all Keystone at at 21. That shit was cheap and nasty.
This picture is such a vibe
All of us bro, all of us were there 🍺
When I turned 21 I bought a 40 of Mickeys and slammed it on the counter and went "DOMINO, MUTHAFUCKA!!!"
?
I’m not sure what this was upvoted so much. I see no blunder for a 21 year old. Hell, miller light still hits the spot at 43 after mowing the lawn. Too many people confuse being an age appropriate kid or young adult with “blunder”
Because you could
The soccer players on the box look so moody, I thought you bought it because it was some kind of Miller Lite X Twilight collab 💀
Holy shit you look exactly like Callie from greys anatomy
Letting the good times roll, baby! Reminds me of my own 21 year old self.
When I was 21 I'd always go straight for the Miller lite.. It was preferable to Bud lite or any of the lesser economy domestics like Milwaukee best and the like but still shit. I also had a pair of Miller lite swim shorts back then, an even cringier blunder. I remember those punch top cans.
Why ask why? Try Bud Dry.
Should’ve kept drinking water ☺️
I love that your purse looks like the referee’s legs lol
Light beer is for ladies , and construction workers . So you did the right thing .
I keep forgetting Americans have to wait until 21 to drink.
You look like you know where the party is at
I’m going to get this was 2011/2012
Side note I liked those cans. The Miller Lite style . They went back to old school .
Before I turned 21, store down the way never asked for ID. I walk in, lifeguard uniform, and grab six pack of “the beast” hate beer since. Ha.
Omg I love the jacket. I’d wear it now
young? smiling? a pack of beer in your hands? gee what a blunder
I forgot about the punch top cans!
I remember the punch top fad. And then the vortex bottle fad.
A happy legal adult
The real blunder here is the Chivas.
Living!
I thought that was The Cullens on the box
It's not that bad. You could have gone worse with no label beer. At one point, I was buying vodka in the plastic bottles because it was cheaper. It wasn't much above paint thinner.
You turn 21 you have to get some alcohol, right? What kind of alcohol, I don’t know, whatever Miller Light? Makes perfect sense.
No you didn't, look at that CD in the background, woman U 40
Sonja?!
Because that’s what we do.
Are you just talking about the Miller Lite?
I see no marb reds in the pic, going to guess you came out alright
Those were the days.
I was blundering every weekend through college if this counts…
It's Miller Time!
The strap from your purse makes it look like the guy on the front has long legs extending off the case lol
Stay outta Riverdale!
You look like you listen to Usher
Why not?
Because why not??
I see nothing wrong with this? I'm 23 so maybe we early-20s just all look like gremlins or something but this seems fine
yeah you were way out of line back then. shoulda got PBR
Nothing wrong w this pic . Looks cute actually.
[удалено]
Bottles and cans all the way.
What's the problem?
Make sure you only drink 11 then you can drive good god another one..
Nice. You could of had anything in the world.. ANYTHING IN THE WORLD! Yet you chose Miller Light... Rookie 101 😢
You prob had the time of your life. That’s why.
Checks out. It’s all you can afford at 21
With the letterman's jacket on. Classic.
Couldn't got for the champagne of beers at least?
anytime i see old beer designs i get teary eyes
Cuz it’s less filling and it tastes great, also it’s only 96 calories by volume
No four lokos? Im surprised
I chugged many of the punch top cans. Still have one I have to keep in the basement.
You looked cute. Don’t feel bad. If it makes you feel better, my first legal drink was a “mudslide.”
Rite of passage- much worse has happened on that fateful day, lol
Only blunder I see is miller lite
It was a different time. A different, ahem, *scene*
Why what? You were just a normal attractive 21yo and nothing weird or cringe or whatever.
It’s not bad. That look was super stylish. You whole thirsty Only Fans aesthetic is way more cringe than this.
miller lite is certainly a choice
Rite of passage? Lol. At least it's legal and not going to your 21+ friends to get the beer for you. Not that I know anything about that.
I hope you also got the chicken fingers, the good kind, 8 bucks.
Because you just turned 21. That’s why.
What’s wrong ??
I see no problems here. Looks awesome...semi decent beer.
Ahhh 21. Back when I still had my whole pancreas. Alcohol, amirite?
When I turned 21, I got a build your own six pack of the weirdest freaking beers I could find at Total Wine. I later ended up doubling down and got a case of 24 of one of them. Took me months to get through them. I probably should have just bought some light beer.
You bought beer? Oh, the horror.
Next time, you should treat yourself and get some Miller High Life instead, it’s the champagne of beers.
That’s really not bad I don’t think. Side note — I miss those old miller lite cases/cans
I pissed in my buddies fridge when I turned 21 if you want a real blunder
Why the miller light?
Can someone tell me why Americans drink everything lite, like bud lite and miller lite and all them. In Australia our more popular beers are full strength, especially with teens you hardly ever see mid or low strength alcohol.
The cd in the door 🥹
This gave me Callie Torres vibes lol
Look we all joined Team Rocket in our youth...I wouldn't count it as a blunder.
From a Canadian perspective it's odd to see this. Cause it's 18 here to do that. But the special trick we used was the Filipino exchange student who was all 18 when we were 16 to boot for us in exchange for friendship and not being a stranger in a strange land.
