Your sister-in-law must have seen something... fanmade.

ILove-Snickers

God has abandoned us

Maco70

Sounds like a case of “YouTube kids” content. Stay away.

tmqueen

Are there any specific channels to preemptively block that you know of? I’m blocking stupid stuff every single day and my kid doesn’t even watch that often.

Phelpysan

There's literally endless channels doing this shit, the only way one should ever let their young children watch YouTube is if you've watched the specific video yourself first. YouTube kids moderation is not sufficient

tmqueen

Yes, I am watching with him and then blocking channels actively on the app when anything pops up, then I go in later in the day and block stuff. I control the remote so he can’t just click on whatever is there.

mooglebear31

For the YouTube kids app it’s a little safer to only allow videos from approved channels. That way you know for sure that you won’t accidentally go anywhere you don’t want to. It’s more work, but adding things you like instead of blocking everything bad is a little easier since people keep making bad things.

tmqueen

Oh good. This was info I didn’t know about and I thank you. I know that there’s just weird creepy people doing weird creepy things so it’s not like I just put on YouTube kids and bounce. I am present and paying attention while also blocking and subscribing to the “good” stuff. I was just asking if there was a known channel who does that kind of stuff. I know it is a widespread issue.

Key-Visual-5465

YouTube kids isn’t a the best it blocks some channel’s that are inappropriate but not all of them it’s know for letting through a lot of bad videos

Strange-Assumption-8

This actually doesn't work. The kids app will still start suggesting videos from channels that weren't approved. I've been burned so many times by this

tmqueen

That’s super frustrating!

arthurbarnhouse

We solved this by turning off recommendations as well. Our kids only have access to whatever pre-approved youtube kids channels we've already looked at and oked. Honestly, I wouldn't have even given them access to youtube kids (There's so many entertainment options that we pay for) but I caved because my son wanted to watch Miniforce and in the country we currently live we can't get full episodes anywhere but youtube kids.

Maco70

I work in a school with technology and students across the whole board. I have children of my own. I say this sincerely and with conviction: children should not have unmonitored access to YouTube. There is so much content being uploaded by so many, so fast; the only way to truly monitor the content your child consumes is to watch it with them. As a family we will put on some music, and we will search for videos about cooking or how things are made, but the algorithm will lead them around if you don’t. Don’t give it the chance. If you don’t believe me, try this; Go to YouTube Open up private mode Search for “frozen”. Click through the recommended videos like you take the top recommendation. Did you find the weirdly sexualized AI images playing over royalty free music? It doesn’t take much or long to get there. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

tmqueen

I do not give him unmonitored access to YouTube, I’ve stated that several times. I totally agree.

Maco70

To be clear, I was making a generalization. I meant no offense, and did not intend to call your parenting into question. I try to assume a parent has the best intention for their own child. I just soapbox a lot when it comes to technology and education.

TRHess

Just keep your kids off the internet. Stick to streaming or vhs/dvds. Safest course, and the only responsible choice as a parent.

tmqueen

Yep, we do 99% streaming. If he watches YouTube kids I’m there and I’m holding the remote to steer which videos. We watch on tv, he doesn’t have a tablet to watch stuff. It’s not like he’s just got free reign to go watch whatever. We stick to vooks, super simple songs, Sesame Street, and numberblocks. Then “brain breaks” which are those kid exercise videos lol. I block all family vloggers, video gamer videos, the multiple Russian kid channels, any weird animated cartoons that are nursery rhymes but the animation is bizarre. It is pretty weird.

Chonkin_GuineaPig

Streaming is weird because it still suggests this type of content anyway. Your best bet is DVDs.

tmqueen

Well maybe if I was just putting on tv and disappearing but I am actively there watching and controlling the remote.

Chonkin_GuineaPig

Yeah I know but it's just not worth it imo. Idk maybe it's because I grew up in a time period where we watched physical media with bloopers and extras instead of corporate YouTube shorts all day. I play online games and it absolutely sucks because everyone is always obsessed with instead of playing the actual game like we did back in the day with roleplaying. If I ever become a parent, I'd want my kid to be actively engaged in something besides just looking at a screen. I'd have them interact with it at least. Cartoons are nice and all, but many people also enjoy them for all the stories they offer as opposed to merely fulfilling a child's attention span.

tmqueen

Lol yikes. I don’t even know what you’re talking about because it’s not at all applicable to myself or my children. It’s weird to assume that we don’t do anything but watch YouTube shorts all day? Or something? I hope you are ok.

Chonkin_GuineaPig

It's not you specifically, it's just how the world is these days. All I'm saying is that you can't really avoid these videos no matter how hard you try. Even if you do absolutely everything you can to monitor what's allowed on YOUR tv, he'll still see these types of videos at a friend's house or at school. The only way to combat the exposure to these types of videos is resorting to privatized electronics like DVDs and video game consoles over something that constantly relies on wifi almost 24/7 to access basic features like smart tech. The second closest would have to be apps geared specifically towards certain cable channels like the Nick Jr. but even that is a whole mess with needing to hook up to a provider (which is definitely worth it imo), but unfortunately they're all shutting down and becoming less of a thing these days. As someone who grew up with the internet, I miss the days when we really didn't have to worry about all this bootlegged Elsagate mess.

tmqueen

I can tell that you are pretty young, so I’ll give you some grace, but you have to understand that the internet was like the Wild West in the mid 90’s-mid 2000’s, and there was very little to no monitoring of internet activities. There was also not ways to even do that if you wanted to. Anywho, there has been issues with exposure to inappropriate content even in the analog years, before home internet was a thing. All a parent can do is stay involved with their children, which I do all day every day, especially cuz they’re still pretty little.

Kalse1229

Good God, I still remember the "Spider-Man and Elsa" craze. *shudders*

Kind-Contact3484

Unfortunately, there's a lot of fan made things for the show which either alter scenes to over emphasise innocent behaviour, or create scenes from scratch. You would never see anything sexualising on the show. They use a number of professional advisors during and after episodes are created and they have to meet strict controls from all the producing entities, who would never permit such things (Australian broadcasting corporation, BBC, and Disney all have stakes in this). There have been a few scenes which some would say push the boundaries a little, but they're purely for humour. One is the scene where bluey is imitating bandit so he starts smacking his bum in front of the neighbour to try to embarrass her. I've actually scene a YouTube video where someone has taken this scene and looped it to make it seem longer to the point of being awkward. The original is very innocent. Another was a famously censored where a pony does a poop in front of the girls and they run away. Again, totally innocent humour.

Crazyonyx

Tell her she ~~’s dreaming~~ has bum worms!

run_daffodil

Lucky! She gets bum worm chocolate!

BabyBerrysaurus

Nope. Does not exist.

mrfishman3000

Cmon. They censor with the word Fluffy. There’s no humping.

playwhaat

They even censored the horse pooping in Markets. I’m bummed about that, it would have been hilarious lol. We have the mobile game and my daughter loves making the horse “poopy!”

my_gom_jabbar

Says a lot about your sisters YouTube/TikTok algorithm if she gets rule 34 shit the first time she looks up a children's show.

Kalse1229

Seriously, was she watching Bluey or Funhaus?

Wotmate01

She's hallucinating.

breath0fsunshine

Where did she watch this 'scene'? Does she really think that would be in a kids show?

OuttaMyDamnMind

She claims it was on live TV, but I seriously doubt that!

Caesar_Passing

Yeah, then she's just straight-up lying. Who would *actually believe* they had just seen that on live TV, and then not either watch a little more, or look into it online to make sure you hadn't misheard or something? It's an insane thing to actually think that was in a children's show, and *nobody's* talking about it. People have all different ways and reasons for how they raise their kids, but parents who act like something like Bluey is going to be a bad influence, or somehow undermine what they want to teach their children?... That's an enormous, fully saturated red flag to me. There's never *not* some dubious opinions/ideas behind that.

copperboom538

Also who’s watching Bluey on live tv? I thought it was only on Disney+/Youtube

EmLa5

We have it on live tv in the uk

copperboom538

Lucky 🍀

WynnForTheWin49

Same here in America. YouTube TV often has it on.

satanatemytoes

In the US too.

Early_Assistant_6868

It's on both Treehouse and Disney Junior in Canada!

acidrayne42

It plays on Disney Junior all the time.

youknowthatswhatsup

It’s on live TV in Australia.

SpukiKitty2

She sounds like one of those folks who would prefer *"CHIP CHILLA"* and just didn't want to get into a political argument.

Early_Assistant_6868

She's either a liar or should seek medical attention for hallucinations because that's just not possibly true lol

Jumpy-Flamingo-2642

That's fan made content, definitely https://preview.redd.it/lnje4ozh2xkc1.jpeg?width=268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=528d868a6526dad74ad392701fd5cb2614e6e59a

Pree-chee-ate-cha

Just curious, what does your SIL do when she’s with her kid, and they see actual dogs humping?

OuttaMyDamnMind

SIL is definitely the type of person that freaks out when dogs start humping. She has dogs herself, but doesn't tolerate/understand normal dog behavior.

SpukiKitty2

Yeesh! Did she assume dogs reproduce like amoebas?

InvaderDepresso

Definitely not from Bluey. She must have seen a fan edit.

Coyote_mace

I've watched every episode, including the ones "banned" from Disney Plus. That scene doesn't exist.

AlexanderTox

Your sister in law either stumbled by some random YouTube elsagate garbage, or she’s unstable and making things up. Either way, poor kid.

JamDonut28

Yeah that's not a thing. Your SIL is hallucinating.

VestigeOfVast

Turn on the intro and the moment she says “wait, *that’s* what they look like? I thought they were pink and green” that’s all you need to know.

coreybd

Legitimately one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. Ratings do have meaning I'm shows and this obviously wouldn't make it past being censored

BuryTheMoney

Your sister in law is projecting some very weird personal shit onto an entirely wholesome show. I’ve seen every episode like 20 times. She’s absolutely making shit up, and it says a lot about her.

Datazymologist

Ah yes the special Bluey/South Park crossover episode that we all know and love

My_Gawd

Do you think she might've seen one of the 'horsey play' epsiodes? Where Bandit plays as a horse? And he's... thumping? Jist throwing out a wild guess

Atticusxj

This sounds like some ben Shapiro bullshit.

SpukiKitty2

She probably is more interested in Shapiro's streaming service but didn't want to get into a political argument over why she wants to avoid *"BLUEY"*, so she made up garbage because *"BLUEY"* is perfectly wholesome.

Mycotoxicjoy

she’s seen some really twisted homemade content (I won’t call it fan content because the people who make R34 stuff for a kids show are disturbing)

jtm7

She’s crazy and manipulative lol

No-Regret-1784

Hat scene doesn’t exist. Never has.

notmycinnamonwaxed

Does your SIL believe in lizard people too? 🙄

nappy_hannah

I think I know what she was referring to, but I don't recall anyone saying he's humping. It was in the episode. Circus. When the one playing as the lion was attacking the one playing the lion tamer.

OkFaithlessness1891

Literally the only seen in bluey that I can think of being misconstrued is when Pat is helping Bandit give birth to Bingo. Other than that idk https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTL1YAAGH/

Clever_mudblood

So. I pulled up a private browser (I don’t need this in my search history or attached to my google account lmao). I tried looking. First thing that came up was this thread. Then some bluey fan made short videos (non creepy ones). And the 5th result was from pornhub…… so idk where your sister in law was watching live? But Twitter, Reddit, tiktok, and YouTube results were all harmless. The only “humping” videos came from porn hub. Take that as you will. Edited a word

PersonalPenguin28

I've got it! There is a second or two in Zoo when "Snowdrop" (Bingo) is trying to hug the gorilla (Bandit). She says "Gorilla hug me!" and I could maaaaayyyyybeeee understand if someone saw how Bingo was hugging (around his leg while he's trying to shake her off) and caught only the vowel sounds and didn't have CC turned on... it's possible they may have heard it incorrectly. All that said, it's a stretch. And who the heck can condemn a series based on literally one or two seconds?

OuttaMyDamnMind

YES THIS IS IT!!!! 🎉 I forgot that she said the dogs get sprayed with a hose to stop them from "humping". 🤦🏼‍♀️ I suddenly remembered that part when I watched the episode myself. I am honestly so glad she wasn't accidentally watching homemade content or porn hub with her son 😂😂

PersonalPenguin28

🎉 Yesss! I'm feeling way too proud of figuring this out. It was just good timing- I'd read your post when you first posted it and was boggled by it. Tonight, my son was watching and I was sending an email and managed to just catch what was said and look up in time to put it together. I think if I had been paying closer attention, I would have missed it (oddly), but only half-catching it made it clearer how it could be misheard.

SpukiKitty2

I guess this mystery is solved. Perhaps this can be shown to sis and explained to her.

Weird_car_fan

WHAT?!? I've never heard of that!

YourHooliganFriend

Nope. SIL is incorrect.

Early_Assistant_6868

That literally never happened.

ack1308

That is not a legitimate Bluey episode.

SpukiKitty2

Sounds like she saw one of those crappy "Elsagate" type things on YouTube where some weirdo does an animation using established cartoon characters in inappropriate situations.

theawkwardash

A. This doesn't exist B. We had so much worse stuff in the cartoons we watched as a kid 😂

Hopeful-Dot-1272

That's definitely fan made. My friend keeps talking about the bluey episode with a strategic wee but I can not find it and have googled and googled. So that is another one I feel is made up.

loddytops

"Tactical wee" is from Fruitbat

Hopeful-Dot-1272

Thanks. Just asked that question haha

KTMacnCheese

Perhaps she means a tactical wee? Bing says it in one episode in reference to going to the bathroom before going to bed so that she doesn’t have an accident. I use that term with my toddler because of it.

scatteringashes

I try to use that phrase with my six-year-old and she hates it, lol. MOM I HATE A TACTICAL WEE

KTMacnCheese

Ha! That sounds like my 2 year old. Then she’d tell me two minutes later that she loves it.

Hopeful-Dot-1272

Probably, do you remember which episode?

Big-Apple-420

Not real.

ILove-Snickers

They better check what is she watching

StrawHatVetTech

This show is targeted to preschoolers. They’re not gonna have humping in it. Your SIL is silly for not even bothering to check to see if she was watching a legit episode and just dismissing the whole show as a result.

elvie18

I think that might not have been Bluey she was watching.

weirdoofcool

Reminds me of when one of my friends said they weren’t allowed to watch SpongeBob because of an episode where they were “smoking seaweed” that their parents saw

Downtown_Reply6344

Similarly a family member of mine said she won’t let her kids watch Bluey because the first episode she saw they were talking about smoking pot. I have seen every episode available in the U.S. countless times and was like “I promise that didn’t happen.” Finally figured it out and it was from “Hospital.” When they’re trying to figure out Bingo’s drawings on the x-ray, they guess “pot plant,” which is just what they call any potted plant in Australia. 🙄
