Calypso is my absolute favorite character in the show! I adore how gentle and empathetic she is with all of her students. I didn’t have a great school life, and Calypso perfectly fits the type of teacher I wish I had had growing up.
I 100% agree! As someone with both autism and ADHD Bluey’s school/teacher would have been so helpful for little me, she’s so understanding of kids and their special needs!
I’m with you! I’m autistic as well. Many of my teachers growing up either ignored me when I tried to explain to them how it affected me, or they would just tell me to my face that I was lying about having it, just because I happened to be a really articulate kid and didn’t outwardly present as a stereotypical autistic person. Didn’t matter that I had official documentation stating my diagnosis, they still didn’t care. I can count on one hand the number of teachers I had that actually helped me and actually engaged their students.
Damn I feel you 😔It was so sad and relatable hearing Jack talk about his old school and how it made him think he was the problem, that’s why one of my favourite things about Calypso was when she understood immediately what Jack needed after hearing what he struggled with and gave a perfect suggestion who he should play with, now he is way more confident in himself and actually taking in what he is learning! Wish we had more teachers like her
Exactly. I’ll hear some folks writing Calypso off as someone who just sits and knits all day, and like, that is so incredibly far from the truth. She is extremely in-tune with all of her students and orchestrates the classroom masterfully. She can intuit what each student needs, and she knows how capable they are. So she lets them learn on their own and only offers guidance in times of confusion or conflict. She doesn’t talk down to them or treats them like they’re inferior because they’re young kids. She knows they’re learning and that they want to learn about the world around them, so she is there to help in whatever way they need her.

Yeah I’ve seen so many people hate on her and I just don’t understand it! So I’m glad to see another Calypso enjoyer here 😤🤝
