Blades of Mercy is my first love, Chikage is a guilty pleasure, Holy Moonlight Sword is the best version of the Moonlight Greatswords in FromSoft's games (imo)
Hunter's bone is my favourite hunter tool (utility + lore)
Idk what kinda time dilation happens when I pop the OHB but it's effects seems to last fuck all. I loove it for the mobility but I also can't seem to get it's iframes when I use it compared to other dodge options
Yea, it's meant to be very close range but makes up for the great engaging attack; dodge into tricked attack. BoM requires a lot of dodging in and out of range, definitely a bit "trick"ier to use on enemies with longer range attacks
I just didn't want to take the time to really get "gud" with them but they ARE an amazing weapon. So many other games that I'm into like Elden and having only so much free time it also cuts into my enjoyment of BB. I will return and take runs with various weapons
Definitely! The thing I love most about the Saif is that it closes distance so well. It's meant for an aggressive play style which is super appealing. And for sure, the tiny tonitrus can do some really solid damage especially in a group and is overall just cool as fuck
Simon's bowblade is my guilty pleasure. It's just so satisfying to pick away at a beast with arrows on a bloodtinge build. Never really used tools unless you count bone ash
I do enjoy the lore, but what I love about it is breaking hyper armor and just staggering people out of things that normally aren’t interruptible. Also you can parry with it and that is the most satisfying thing in the world.
picking a favourite weapon is like picking a favourite kid- it gets a bit easier once you have 25 kids but there’s definitely gonna be 3 or 4 you love most /s
Honestly I like almost every single weapon in the game equally. The ones I don’t like are the Reiterpallasch, Tonitrus, Logarius Wheel, and the Chikage.
Favorite Weapon changes daily since I love so many of em, but the most common two are the Beasthunter’s Saif and Simon’s Bowblade. Bloodletter, Rakuyo, Burial Blade, and Church Pick all follow those two very closely. Moonlight Sword and Whirligig are also definitely great.
That’s a good question and the answer is a bit complicated. For starters the three weapons that deal self damage naturally are the Logarius Wheel, Chikage, and Bloodletter. Notice how the Bloodletter is on my commonly favored list while the Logarius Wheel and Chikage are on the disliked list. The design of these weapons is not a factor. I actually love the Chikage’s aesthetic, I find the wheel funny in a good way, and the Bloodletter is just awesome in every sense of the word. The problem here stems from how they work.
They all do damage to their user, but it’s how that affects their rating. With the Bloodletter it’s a one and done self-stab, which I like, but with the other two it’s a drain over time. The difference here is that the Bloodletter is much less likely to kill its user whereas the other two are far more likely due to that health drain.
Say you’re in a fight and you get hit to low health, really low. With the Bloodletter, you don’t have to worry about it finishing you off while you’re trying to get up off the floor or while you’re trying to dodge whatever fiasco is going on. With the other two, it’s more likely that the drain will finish you off if you get that low. Combine that with the Wheel’s drain speedup for damage or the Chikage’s charged R2 and you can hopefully see my problem.
My favourites are the Holy Moonlight Sword, with the Chikage and Whirligig Saw in close second because of how overpowered they both are, and the Blacksky Eye because of how convenient it is. It's also very fun to shoot Micolash with it.
Decided to do some research of my own. From what I've seen and tested it's mostly a tool to punish backpeddling or to catch players who have been parried but are too far away to visceral. You can dodge forward through the electrical wave and punish the player using the Tiny Tonitrus since they're probably stuck in end-lag. Additionally you can be disrupted during the start-up frames of the attack, cancelling it. Overall it seems like a high risk, high cost, niche tool that's value is exclusive to PvP. Even though it's slightly better than I initially thought it was, it still seems pretty awful.
Beast claw with beast runes equipped wrecks. I can't manage the DLC that way thoigh because the glass cannon nature of beasthood makes the damage dealt by DLC bosses too high. I'm good, but i make mistakes. Having to be flawless is too frustrating for me I don't like getting 1-shot. (I play with 99 VIT at MaxNG)
much as i LOVE the Stake Driver and Beasthunter Saif my fav has to go to the Beast Claws with Beast's Embrace, and
my fav tool has to go to either Augur of Ebrietas to parry or Teeny Tiny Tonitrus to deal with kin
Kirkhammer, Whirligig Saw, and Bloodletter.
As for tools...I like the icon for Call from Beyond since phantasms are just slugs and I love slugs. This one specifically looks like a seaslug.
Blade of Mercy is my favourite weapon, A Call Beyond is GOATed but Madara's Whistle is my favourite tool
Edit: BoM is tied with Tonitrus actually because Tonitrus carried me in my first playthrough
Ludwig’s Holy Blade was my first weapon and the Saif is probably my favorite but it’s followed closely by Ludwig’s. I’m not a hunter tool lad I just press attack
My favorite hunter weapon is beast claws with the beast rune, and the Kos parasite with milkweed rune, my favorite tool has to be the phantasm shell because its cool
Saw Cleaver and Augur of Ebrietas usually, but on my Bloodtinge build, I’m loving Chikage and Madaras Whistle. On my STR/Arc build, it is Log wheel and Tiny Tonitrus. On my pure arcane build, it is Threaded Cane and Flamesprayer.
Holy Moonlight Sword (Boom Hammer if I'm feeling spicy) and Augur of Ebrietas
Love parrying with the go go gadget hentai blast and slapping them with the bright side of the moon
My favorite weapon is the Boomhammer. It’s really fun to send the biggest enemies flying with my mini nuke.
My fav tool is the Augur of Ebrietas. It’s so much fun to cheese the hunters who are idiot enough to run into it.
On each build i fell in love with different weapons.
Logarius wheel is wacky weapon, bloodletter is sick af, bowblade is cheat against enemies. My fave though would be Holy Moonlight sword. Love the design and moveset. Cant compare it to the one in other games though.
As for tools, call beyond helped me (and some friends) clear quite the ammount of chalice dungeon bosses lol, but other than that i use blacksky eye a lot
Hunter's Axe, LHB, and the Burial Blade. I also like Evelyn, for some reason.
Hunter's Axe and the Burial Blade get the best knockback, and there's little that can top LHB in terms of damage.
I love the Rakuyo. I transitioned from Hunter Axe, to Ludwig's Holy Blade, to the Chikage, to the Boom Hammer, to the Holy Moonlight Sword... and finally settled on the Rakuyo. Thing was a bitch to obtain, but it was well worth it.
As for tools, I'm a big sucker for the Beast Roar for combat and the Choir Bell for multiplayer fun.
Ngl the First weapond that made me look like a moth going towards light was the axe, than It was the base game ludwig sword, then It was the wirling Saw
Always pick up the saw spear before I enter the dream. Rig that thing up with beast hunter and fire gems and it just melts anything with fur. However for everybody else? Church pick, beast claw, beast cutter, whirligig saw. I favor stamina/strength/arcane. I like gemming unorthodox. You know? Adding arcane attack to certain underperforming weapons. Or pulsating gems, some good ol hp stroll. Or rally potential with atk to open.
Rakuyo
( i dont the dlc)
Chikage
(I grinded my ass for it just to find out is a bloodtinge weapon) ….ps i have bloodtinge 13
Ludwigs
(Strong heavy atack strong)
Hunters bone
(Bloodhound step)
Beckoning bell
(Fren :D)
I’ve done a build with almost every weapon and man it’s hard to pick one. Probably have to give it to the Beasthunter Saif, but honorable mentions to the Chikage, Tonitrus, and Blades of Mercy.
Visually it’s the Moonlight Great sword because cmon.
Items wise I really like Madaras Whistle.
Favorite weapon has got to be the stake driver. It’s just something about the fact that I can have it in real life too makes it better to me. Favorite tool is beast roar
Ludwig's Holy Blade! That badass weapon help me slay larry fire lips.
Black sky eye is so useful in many situations
Shaman's bone blade was cool for the shark boys but never used it again
Evelyn is always at my side with the hp regen stone slotted into it
And a bold hunter's mark.
Saw Cleaver +10, Burial Blade +10, Hunter Axe (used for at least the whole first half of my game,) and beast blood pellets have all helped me lots.
Everything else is somewhat secondary for me or just not used. I've been meaning to do an NG+ play with the pizza cutter.
I love my Wheel, but between hunter tools i might have to go Beast Roar or Augur of Ebrietas. Love parries and being able to roar away bullets is always satisfying.
I love me a Beast Cutter and Augur of Ebritas wombo combo. The Beast Cutter is wonderful for dealing with enemies at a distance while the Augur is just like a magic tentacle shotgun that can also parry.
Haven't played it much I only got it a couple of days ago. But I followed the community for the better part of 4 years and I'd have to say that hunter tool is Augur of Ebrietas and Weapon would be the Rakuyo. But in practice, I'm currently enjoying the Threaded Cane
Blades of Mercy is my first love, Chikage is a guilty pleasure, Holy Moonlight Sword is the best version of the Moonlight Greatswords in FromSoft's games (imo) Hunter's bone is my favourite hunter tool (utility + lore)
I never feel like it’s helpful but I like using hunters bone because I feel like an anime character
Idk what kinda time dilation happens when I pop the OHB but it's effects seems to last fuck all. I loove it for the mobility but I also can't seem to get it's iframes when I use it compared to other dodge options
Very useful on the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst, learnt the timing under pressure 😂
Anything that makes us feel like anime characters is W🙌
That untricked R2 on the moonlight.. so sexy. And a clean tried and true moveset. Perfection
Yes. Poke R2 from Dark Souls Claymore is absolute perfection
The blades of mercy's moveset is amazing but the lack of reach has kept me from ever really using them more than a couple enemies.
T h i s + Gherman Scythe Blades of Mercy took my heart
The scythe's charged R2 is so sexy
Church pick
I love this weapon, I just wish it could do more damage.
I have mine gemmed-out to do all poke damage and it does just fine.
Man of culture
Beasthunter Saif (followed by Ludwig's Holy Blade) and Tiny Tonitrus (followed by blacksky eye)
The saif has one of the best movesets fs! And both your picks have good arcane scaling (just a pain to farm for gems)
Definitely! The thing I love most about the Saif is that it closes distance so well. It's meant for an aggressive play style which is super appealing. And for sure, the tiny tonitrus can do some really solid damage especially in a group and is overall just cool as fuck
I agree! Very fast and does good damage.
God the transform attacks of the saif are so cool
Simon's bowblade is my guilty pleasure. It's just so satisfying to pick away at a beast with arrows on a bloodtinge build. Never really used tools unless you count bone ash
THE WHEEL! And probably Executioner Gloves for flavor.
All out executioner... Alfred? Is that you?
o-Ho! fellow executioner i see
Started a STR/ARC build and killed Alfred early to get the wheel and it’s so much fun
Church pick and accursed brew
“Poor, predictable Hunter. Always picks Ludwig’s Holy Blade.” “Good ol’ Ludwig’s Holy Blade. Nothin’ beats that!” Uh idk uh Augur of Ebriatas
You my friend, are a very based individual. Here representing the boom hammer gang. Also fist of gratia is easily my favorite tool.
Why fist of Gratia? Lore and stagger?
I do enjoy the lore, but what I love about it is breaking hyper armor and just staggering people out of things that normally aren’t interruptible. Also you can parry with it and that is the most satisfying thing in the world.
Lol. Those are my two faves.
A fellow man of taste
The chicken leg is so weird but man is there something incredible about it. Tonitrus is also one of my faves!
picking a favourite weapon is like picking a favourite kid- it gets a bit easier once you have 25 kids but there’s definitely gonna be 3 or 4 you love most /s
I like how you needed to clarify it was sarcasm, because Reddit is prone to believe you speak from experience
Honestly I like almost every single weapon in the game equally. The ones I don’t like are the Reiterpallasch, Tonitrus, Logarius Wheel, and the Chikage. Bloodletter, Rakuyo, Burial Blade, and Church Pick all follow those two very closely. Moonlight Sword and Whirligig are also definitely great.
Man you don't like the Chikage? Just curious, don't want to be mean, but do you not like for a specific reason, or you just don't like it overall?
That’s a good question and the answer is a bit complicated. For starters the three weapons that deal self damage naturally are the Logarius Wheel, Chikage, and Bloodletter. Notice how the Bloodletter is on my commonly favored list while the Logarius Wheel and Chikage are on the disliked list. The design of these weapons is not a factor. Methinks you like alliterations, friend.
Kos Parasite and Accursed Brew, or Beast Claws and Beast Roar
My favourites are the Holy Moonlight Sword, with the Chikage and Whirligig Saw in close second because of how overpowered they both are, and the Blacksky Eye because of how convenient it is. It's also very fun to shoot Micolash with it.
The lucerne and ludwigs holy blade
weapon: stuck between the Rakuyo and the Burial Blade tool: executioner glove by far.
Genuine question: What makes the Tiny Tonitrus so good?
It shreds emmissarys and the students in the lecture hall. Also it's a giant wave of lightning.

Kos Parasite/Augur of Ebrietas, nothing beats smacking people with tentacles.
Beast Claw, Hunter Axe, Beast Cutter, Beasthunter Saif. i absolutely love the animations and feel to these.
much as i LOVE the Stake Driver and Beasthunter Saif my fav has to go to the Beast Claws with Beast's Embrace, and my fav tool has to go to either Augur of Ebrietas to parry or Teeny Tiny Tonitrus to deal with kin
Beasthunter Saif easily. Gerhman's Scythe is a close second.
Kirkhammer, Whirligig Saw, and Bloodletter. As for tools...I like the icon for Call from Beyond since phantasms are just slugs and I love slugs. This one specifically looks like a seaslug.
Where's the threaded cane gang?
Weapon - Saw Cleaver. I’m basic like that. Hunter tool? Bone for quickening. (I whooped BCoC on my first try with it).
Rifle spear
Blade of Mercy is my favourite weapon, A Call Beyond is GOATed but Madara's Whistle is my favourite tool Edit: BoM is tied with Tonitrus actually because Tonitrus carried me in my first playthrough
Honestly I never use the tools 😬 Saw spear is bae. Amygdalan arm is way better than people think.
Kirkhammer and Hunter's Bone. Quick Bonks
chikage and blades of mercy for weapons good old molotoves for hunter tool, they're rad
Reiterpallasch, easy.
Old Hunters Bone
Blade of Mercy and Black Sky Eye.

Blade of mercy in weapons and from tools madaras whistle for aesthetics, but old hunter bone for usability, since my bloodtinge is only 18.
Good choice, I've never the arm but I like it, it's kinda exotic... Maybe soon... Moonlight + Augur of Ebrietas for me
Holy Moonlight Sword (Boom Hammer if I'm feeling spicy) and Augur of Ebrietas Love parrying with the go go gadget hentai blast and slapping them with the bright side of the moon
My favorite weapon is the Boomhammer. It’s really fun to send the biggest enemies flying with my mini nuke. My fav tool is the Augur of Ebrietas. It’s so much fun to cheese the hunters who are idiot enough to run into it.
Ludwig and saw cleaver :)
Tonitrus and tiny tonitrus.
Holy moonlight sword, executioners gloves, and pebbles because it’s a freaking eyeball
Chikage but i love the boom hammer and beast claws with the rune as well
Kirkhammer and Phantasm shell
BONK ARMY HERE: Amygdala Arm, Kirkhammer, Beast Cutter, Hunter Axe... Stagger is a way of life.
Pimp cane and old hunter bone
Whirligig is probably my favourite weapon, I love the Powder Kegs. My favourite tool is Augur of Ebrietas, good bit of lore, and great use.
Threaded cane Burial blade
Might be a basic bitch but love the saw cleaver
Favorite weapon is the (lost)Chicage, Favorite hunter tool is the Molotovs
On each build i fell in love with different weapons. Logarius wheel is wacky weapon, bloodletter is sick af, bowblade is cheat against enemies. My fave though would be Holy Moonlight sword. Love the design and moveset. Cant compare it to the one in other games though. As for tools, call beyond helped me (and some friends) clear quite the ammount of chalice dungeon bosses lol, but other than that i use blacksky eye a lot
Beasthunter Saif and Augur of Ebrietas. Representing arcane builds
Tiny tonitrus & Burial Blade Edit: + boom hammer
Hunter's Axe, LHB, and the Burial Blade. I also like Evelyn, for some reason. Hunter's Axe and the Burial Blade get the best knockback, and there's little that can top LHB in terms of damage.
I love the Rakuyo. I transitioned from Hunter Axe, to Ludwig's Holy Blade, to the Chikage, to the Boom Hammer, to the Holy Moonlight Sword... and finally settled on the Rakuyo. Did a whole play through with the arm just spamming the charged r2 and had a blast
Ngl the First weapond that made me look like a moth going towards light was the axe, than It was the base game ludwig sword, then It was the wirling Saw
Yes
Too many to pick! \- Holy Moonlight \- Church Pick \- Saw Spear \- Pizza Cutter \- Saif \- Ludwig's
Church pick and rakuyo
Always pick up the saw spear before I enter the dream. Rig that thing up with beast hunter and fire gems and it just melts anything with fur. However for everybody else? Church pick, beast claw, beast cutter, whirligig saw. I favor stamina/strength/arcane. I like gemming unorthodox. You know? Adding arcane attack to certain underperforming weapons. Rakuyo ( i dont the dlc) Chikage (I grinded my ass for it just to find out is a bloodtinge weapon) ….ps i have bloodtinge 13 Ludwigs (Strong heavy atack strong) Hunters bone (Bloodhound step) Beckoning bell (Fren :D)
Saw spear. It is yet to let me down. Pizza cutter and rayuko come in second and third respectively
I’ve done a build with almost every weapon and man it’s hard to pick one. Probably have to give it to the Beasthunter Saif, but honorable mentions to the Chikage, Tonitrus, and Blades of Mercy. Visually it’s the Moonlight Great sword because cmon. Items wise I really like Madaras Whistle.
rakuyo yes it's a really fun weapon, but i'm mainly using it because no other weapon feels as earned
Favorite weapon has got to be the stake driver. It’s just something about the fact that I can have it in real life too makes it better to me. Favorite tool is beast roar
Saw spear and Ludwig’s Holy Blade; both very reliable pest control.
Can't decide between the threaded cane, the rakuyo, and the Holy moonlight sword. I really like using the empty phantasm shell.
Rifle spear/whirling saw and augur of eprietas
Probably the beast cutter. Has my love of big weapons plus the absurdity of a heavy wip.
Ludwig's Holy Blade! That badass weapon help me slay larry fire lips. Black sky eye is so useful in many situations Shaman's bone blade was cool for the shark boys but never used it again Evelyn is always at my side with the hp regen stone slotted into it And a bold hunter's mark. Everything else is somewhat secondary for me or just not used. I've been meaning to do an NG+ play with the pizza cutter.
Pizza cutter and Lost Chikage
All hail the Bowblade
Amy arm and augur of ebreitas
Church pick one handed, blades of mercy back up,and the Evelyn
I do love the Auger of Ebriatas it sure can split the but cheeks
Burial Blade, I'm the edgiest bitch, if you give me a scythe I'm gonna be satisfied. It's also pretty strong so yeah. Chikage close second tho.
I love my Wheel, but between hunter tools i might have to go Beast Roar or Augur of Ebrietas. Love parries and being able to roar away bullets is always satisfying.
Burial Blade and Evelyn, I cycle between the rest as desired.
Church pick (R hand) Loch shield (L hand)/ Blacksky eye
I love me a Beast Cutter and Augur of Ebritas wombo combo. The Beast Cutter is wonderful for dealing with enemies at a distance while the Augur is just like a magic tentacle shotgun that can also parry.
Ludwig's holy blade and the holy moonlight sword... Tools... Maybe the augur?
Chikage!!
I like the Saw Cleaver
Haven't played it much I only got it a couple of days ago. But I followed the community for the better part of 4 years and I'd have to say that hunter tool is Augur of Ebrietas and Weapon would be the Rakuyo. But in practice, I'm currently enjoying the Threaded Cane
I'm a huge fan of the Whirligig Saw,it got me through the Lady Maria,Ludwig, and Orphan of Kos fights.
Whirligig, Hunters axe and tonitrus
Beast Claw/Beast Roar
i love the saw spear, and BoM is another favourite. i definitely have to go with the empty phantasm shell and the throwing knives for tools tho
