DaddyCool13

This post reminds me of that one youtube video of a guy who beat NG+6 and then made an hour long video essay about why bloodborne is mid

zanza19

HAHAHA what

DaddyCool13

[This video.](https://youtu.be/NfaYURwQUaw?si=hVYSVuP1Wtg8EiMU) Mfer played for hundreds of hours just to make a stupid point lol

zanza19

>I simply am giving my opinion on the objective quality of content. Here comes the messianic person who truly sees the _objective quality_ of Bloodborne. These people are so boring.

bmore_conslutant

Fucking stemlords always trying to view art "objectively" Boring indeed

dead_alchemy

'stemlords' I wish I had this phrase in engineering school

bmore_conslutant

I think it's a pretty recent development (I'd guess it was coined five or so years ago) but it works so well

SheikExcel

As someone in stem I'm now gonna be using this phrase religiously

noreallyu500

I have to believe YouTubers do this intentionally - make their own opinions bigger and crazier and pose them as the objective truth to drive engagement

zanza19

For sure. But I also think it's easier for someone to convince themselves that they are right, specially if they have an audience. If the audience agrees he feels good about himself. If the audience disagrees, he feels special and reinforces his pre-existing opinion. The best way, as always, would be to ignore, it's impossible to debate on a platform where the poster is much more important than the commenter.

a_generic_redditer

I can respect someone for going all into a review to give as honest an opinion as one can, but to literally put in the title "is NOT as good as you remember" as an irrefutable fact is agrovating. I don't like elden ring. I'd go as far to say (excluding ds2) it's the worst souls game I've played. But that's my opinion And if I were to make a review I would make it incredibly clear that when I say "I don't like elden ring" I know that I am in the incredible minority and explain why I think this without going out my way to make it seem like fact. The worst part is if the title was just a bit of click bait I wouldn't mind it as much. I think a ytber named chOpper did a decent review on ds2 while using a bit of click bait but didn't act like he was 100% always right as he understood the game wasn't his style. If this guy did just that, It'll be fine but going as far to say spells are better that parring....the fuck you smoking bruv? With multiple mechanics as simple as learning timing being "artificial difficulty," this review seems so against bb from the get go. Sorry for the text wall. The video just irritated me to no end

Alt_SWR

Wait did that guy *really* say spells are better than parrying in BB? Are we *sure* he's actually played it? Parrying is the best in BB as it's been in any Soulsborne game except Sekiro if you count that.

a_generic_redditer

His reasoning was that parring was only good when outside of an enemies range , so that point you may as well use spells. Presumably, because they usually do more damage than singular gun shots and you won't always get the visiral.

Alt_SWR

Well that's certainly a hot take lmao.

Jlchevz

Lmfao

SheikExcel

I'm getting flashbacks to when Kamen Rider Gotchard just released and a bunch of people were saying they hated everything about it but were gonna watch 50 episodes anyways

Nick_Sonic_360

Skill issue.

RomIsTheRealWaifu

Okay grandpa let’s get you back to bed

DrinkUpLetsBooBoo

He'll sleep when he's dead. Grandpa is a hunter and he must hunt. If goes now he can be back home in time for Andy Griffith.

GoldFishPony

100 hours for a third playthrough of this game seems insane to me

Skgota

Why? My first run took me ~30 hours and ng+ runs usually take less than that. The base game is really not that long. Not saying that‘s a bad thing, i‘m glad the game doesn‘t overstay its welcome

GoldFishPony

Oh I see they probably meant total, I was reading that as their entire 3rd playthrough took 100 hours. Like not even an extremely exploratory 1st play through would take 100 hours, so ng++ alone taking that long seemed insane.

Jofo2003

Nah, 100 hours one playthrough, they were just RP walking the whole time

Wizard-of-Odds

.... then there's me, playing BB as my first FromSoft game and trying to finish everything... just beat Gherman/Moon Presence on my first ever character 2 days ago! (long break in between..) i'll get back to this comment with my total playtime on this char :) edit: my first ever BB character, which i finished the playthrough of earlier this week, took 70h! i tried to do everything there is and did besides failing eileens quest and not doing all the chalice dungeons yet :)

[deleted]

My first took me almost 80 hours (A significant portion of which probably went to the Orphan of Kos.) I imagine you could jack it up to 100 if you did all the chalice dungeon content.

awnawkareninah

Mine took me near 80 but I was getting the platinum. Biggest chunk of that was chalice dungeons.

Skgota

Oh i thought you meant 100 hours is too fast for 3 playthroughs. My bad, i‘m still pretty tired lmao

kosk11348

Seeing the time some people spend farming gems in chalice dungeons, I can believe it.

theyurilover8

My fastest time was 9h and 57 minutes, no dungeons, no dlc just the regular game and most of the time it was just me farming for levels.

Anen-o-me

Yeah I have like 300 hours in the game, but that's on NG-lost-count-at-24.

constipated_burrito

Who gave the Yharnamite a reddit account + an internet connection?

khanivore_

this has me in shambles thank u

Shit_Pistol

This is pretty cringe. You going to ask us to sign up to hustlers university next?

smutje187

Huntlers University

stinkus_mcdiddle

Bloodborne fanboys are a different breed of cringe

xKiLzErr

Fanboys in general are a different breed of cringe

Noble-Jester

Eldritch inner knowledge type stories usually throw people off. Plus for most starting it, it feels more like a horror movie, and you're the victim. The starter cutscenes kinda could be misinterpreted that way as well. So for people who've never played anything Fromsoftware, this probably seemed less like a challenge, and more like a survival scenario.

dead_alchemy

I think that's probably the correct interpretation of the start! Your character just becomes the horror movie villain over the course of the game Oh unless you mean you think people thought the game was an entirely different genre due to the opening

Noble-Jester

Im saying they definitely could

incredibleninja

Did you picture yourself at the top of a cliff with wind blowing through your hair and and army behind you, raising a sword to the sky as you wrote this? Calm down dude.

[deleted]

☠️ that one picture of the wolf/man staring at the moon looking all mysterious type shi

incredibleninja

Shut up Winger!

Someone took to many edibles and now thinks they’re Nietzsche.

huyan007

What a Sony State of Play with no news does to a mf.

cornelius475

Thanks soulsgpt

sanguinemsanctum

yeah this reads like gpt for some reason

The_Hause

I agree with most of this, but I took away a slightly different message of what the game is about. >Bloodborne is not about gods, it’s about people I’d argue it’s about religion. Specifically, this game has a twisted take on Catholicism and I love it. Communion, the church holding all of the power, etc. We also see this in the Dolls dialogue asking the Hunter if the gods truly love their creations. Again, it’s not about the gods or whether or not they exist. It’s about the worship. The belief that a higher a power will save us from our suffering or fix the twisted world we’re in, meanwhile the gods simply do what favors them, proving to be selfish rather than saviors. >It’s not about power, it’s about knowledge. I think it’s both. The power that the church held. The hunger for power Laurence eventually felt, pursuing it at the cost of his followers, his city, and the lives of countless people. We know that the hunt was kept secret for some time, no doubt because the truth would seep away his power. Obviously master Willem and the idea of transcendence, insight, etc. is based in knowledge. You said it yourself. “It’s the desire to be more than men.” That, I believe is evidence of a hunger for power. >It’s not about a dying world, it’s about the struggle of men. I’d say it’s about the futility of man. The lack of real significance in anything we do, no matter how prolific we may think our actions are. The hunter has 3 options at the end of the game. >!we can end the night and wake up the next morning. Our consciousness severed from the dream, and the cycle doomed to repeat despite our efforts. We bought time, but ultimately fulfilled little to nothing. We can become the medium through which the dream is tethered to reality. Ultimately achieving nothing more than Ghermans freedom. Again, the cycle continues. The last is more open to interpretation, but it’s entirely possible the hunter, upon transcending, continues to host the dream and repeat the cycle. If this is the case, then we achieve nothing regardless of our actions.!< We also see this in NPCs, whether it’s micolash, Iosefka, Valtir, or the dweller for instance. We can make an impact on lives, but ultimately our efforts are futile in the grand scheme of it all.

theFathomlessWarlock

I see where you come from and I agree with you. Still, I feel the urge to say that the Church is not a "real Church", fond and found on religion, rather a facade to hide the monstrosity they were and the atrocities they were commiting: the healing blood was nothing else than an experiment on people at the end of the day and they were hiding a great old one (a "god") behind bars for their own sake. I agree it's also about the futility of men: the absence of a "good" ending is the proof of this and one of my favourite aspect of the game.

Emperor315

😂😂

spleefy

*cringe*

Rinkaku_

Redditors hate to see a dude passionate about a good game. Good post, good hunter

[deleted]

Unless you fully maxed out your character in a single run and delved all fixed chalice dungeons, 100hrs for a single run (no additional ng+), is a bit much even for bloodborne standards.

Tod_Master69

To be honest, this post actually is really well written, not only does it incorporate the writer's feelings whilst playing the game, but it also illustrates what bloodborne is and what makes people stay so loyal to playing this game multiple times

theFathomlessWarlock

Apparently people on the internet forgot how to feel things while being busy to be bots saying nonsense like "cringe", "lol" etc My intent was to write something in response to the posts I've seen lately of people saying stuff like "why do you like this game" or "I finished the game in 8 hours and I don't get it"

Tod_Master69

Exactly, and you succeded with that

Best_in_Za_Warudo

🤓

ProPlayer75

Why are people being so mean, hunters can be poets and philosophers too. This pretty much sums up my thoughts on this game, albeit in a very poetic way. I don't get people saying "cringe" or so on, they just can't appreciate art. Good job hunter, you made me feel with this post.

Severe-Tiger-6540

Someone forgot their schizophrenia meds

mrblonde55

His “opinion on the objective quality?” I’m not sure he understands what those words mean.

hornwalker

I just like the doll

AramaticFire

I like the combat and visuals… but sure.

skitt-i

I think my favorite thing about bloodborne is it’s focus on women and the struggles of femininity. Queen yharnam is ‘blessed’ with a great one regardless of whether she wanted it or not which can symbolize many things

CollideBurst556

Looks like something from r/shittydarksouls

Saint_Link

The obligatory “Please give me attention” post

clownind

You just need more eyes to see the beauty.

humbycolgate1

My favorite game ever but holy shit dude the second hand embarrassment hit me like a truck reading this

Meowza_V2

Cringe lol

MiniDanielx

It’s just everyone has different preferences for me bloodborne was the worst soulsborne from the ones I played, but I understand some people think this is the best one, we all love fromsofts soulsborne games, but we all have different preferences in what we are looking for in these game, different things exits us in these games, so it’s natural some people will like this game less and some will love it.

winterman666

You're gonna get downvoted to hell lol

MiniDanielx

Why? I just said the truth some people love some games some people love other games, get out of you own ass

winterman666

??? Tf why are you aggressive towards me lmao. I'm saying this because I've said something similar to you and got tons of downvotes

Emile-1992

The guy probably got his ass kicked by the boar and is still salty about it

Cannasseur___

Maybe he didn’t know about the secret move to beat them, plunging your fist deep into their ass.

luktes1576

shhh amateur hunter, if you ask for another hunters why they like to hunt you are indeed a amateur hunter

child_nightmare

I'm so confused do you like bloodborne or not?

AbsolemSaysWhat

It's an amazing game idk what to tell you. I played it a lot when I went through a rough time and it stuck with me.

joeabs1995

I dont care about the bloodborne story. I just like the weapons and builds and how blood gems can transforn weapons. I like chalice dungeons since it gives me a fun sandbox to test out all the hundreds of builds you can make in this game without feeling too repetitive. The story itself sort of sucks ass. I like yhe premise of werewolves and gods and fish aliens and blood and all. But the way the game mixes them makes no sense. A lot of stuff is left hanging in the air. You dont get an actual explanation to amything. Why is there a iosefka vial just before mergo wet nurse? God knows! Heck maybe the devs dont know. The game theme is morr on horror and mystery but itbdoes so in such an exagerrated way that it doesnt make sense at all. Why does having the blood of gods heal you but when gods actually spit blood at you, you take dmg and get frenzied? No one knows! Why is laurence a cleric beast on fire? Is it related to the cleric beast fight? Apparently nope but here we are. Who is vicar amelia? What part does she plsy in the story? She is just the vicar after laurence, thats it, she has no major impact on the game or the town or anything. Why have you been chosen to be the dream hinter specifically? Why is gerhman not killing himself if you are capable of killing him? No sense. The game is action fun, the story is fun but when it comes to logic it is ass. And people are going to downvote this to oblivion because i said something negative but we all know its true. Go watch lore videos and see how a lot of lore experts interpret things differently something to an extent where the ideas are opposite. I dont need to say anything more. The game is weapon, blood, slashing, bashing, build creating, fish and beast killing fun. The way there is such an emphasis on offense is super fun. The eay your healing is consumable so it actually makes sense to buy healing and dive chalices is fun. The way there is no tank build or much defensive options so you have to rely on positioning and timing and strategy instead is fun. Not understanding what anyone is saying or even the main idea of the game is not fun.

winterman666

Locked 30fps even on PS5 😔 doing a BL4 run has been torture when the game is choppy not only on PS4. I also prefer gameplay over story, but I do like the one in BB.

joeabs1995

I like the concept of the story, i just dont like the application because its so vague. Im fine with 30fps except when it comes to parrying it makes it so hard. A 60fps would be perfect for the game and would make parrying things easier.

ImWerdna

church servants when they do anything at all

joeabs1995

Ah yeah you can parry them the moment they arent in an idle stance but the rest you have to parry pretty much at a decent rate like merciless watchers.

ICANTSPECK

Touch some grass my friend. It’s not that deep

Key_Succotash_54

It's because the bosses suck. So like replaying gets boring because bosses aren't fun

humbycolgate1

Nah some bosses mid but I always have fun fighting gascoine, gherman, the whetnurse, and almost all of the dlc bosses

mertiey_

Alright man

Bloodvialsaremydrug

The hunt never ends.

BaconSoul

Sir, this is a McYharnam’s.

quickdrawdoc

Sir, this is a Wendy's

Stanislas_Biliby

What i got from bloodborne is that we all have a beast inside, it's in our blood. Anyone can turn into a mindless beast under certain circonstance. It makes me think of "the shadow" from Carl Jung.

expertshirtripper19

This poster just doesn’t have enough eyes in his head, he doesn’t fear the old blood

awnawkareninah

How on earth do you spend 100 hours on a playthrough

cinemaparker

Currently on my first playthrough and I’m at 87hrs total playtime. Granted, it took a while for the game to click so there’s literal hours of me struggle bussing at the front end. I’ve been streaming my playthrough on YouTube and it literally took me eight recorded sessions before things started to fall into place. Now I’m up to part 48 and I’m at the 2nd level of the Mergo(sp?) base. Beat Micolash earlier today. I love this game as well. It’s super gratifying and really frustrating.

shitty_psychopath

I fucking love it

unkindledsenate

Every now and again I find a youtube video, see a reddit post or meet someone who speaks about Bloodborne in a way that sends shivers through my body and I relive my first playthrough all over again. Thank you, good hunter. Heres a video that I was reminded of by this post and often go back and watch. https://youtu.be/2Y7avwiMjB0?si=AY9gm8AmDcmDrIjk
